So who is out the door this summer and who will be in?
Is Ronaldo saga continuing this summer and will he leave for Real Madrid?
Who will replace Fergie when he does eventually retire?
You are going to start a lot of threads here on each team... not everyone is a man u supporter
Nor is everybody interested in football alltogether  (I am though :))
Manchester United should keep Carlos Tevez
He'll be at a different club before the season is out, Fergie has missed his chance there i think by not playing him enough last season, hopefully he will come where the money is and come across the City, we could really do with him. As Barry as shown the footballers are not interested in the champions league they are interested in the money and playing.
I have a feeling there will be a few players going this season from united. With Neville being eyed up by Middlesborough, that would be a good move for him if he can keep his fitness up.
Manchester United have landed a world record £20m-a-year shirt sponsorship deal.
United have replaced failed American *insurance giant AIG with another US *company, the Aon Corporation, who have agreed a *four-year deal, starting in 2010-11.
United chief executive David Gill claimed the sponsorship “strengthened United’s position as one of the world’s biggest clubs”.
Aon, the Chicago-based global financial services company, has agreed one of the biggest sponsorships in world sport and a record for football.
Bayern Munich’s £17m four-year deal with telecommunications company T-Home was the previous highest.
Gill added: “We are *delighted to be entering such an important *relationship with a *company of the *stature of Aon and to have its logo adorn our shirts from the start of the 2010-11 *season.”
Aon chief executive Greg Case said: “It is a unique opportunity when two *leaders in their respective fields can come together in a *partnership like this.
“Manchester United is one of the most recognised sports brands in the world.”
In contrast, Barcelona donate £1.5m a year to Unicef in order to wear the *charity’s logo.
AIG, United’s current sponsors, had to end their four-year deal after being bailed out by the US Treasury.
Meanwhile, Gill met with Carlos Tevez’s advisor Kia Joorabchian yesterday. United are believed to be willing to pay the asking price, but the Argentine ace has asked for time before committing himself.
Ronaldo is playing for Real Madrid next season. Doubt it will make much difference to Man U's success.
80 million quid for a footballer is disgusting. The world has gone completely MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All he does is kick a ball about for 90 minutes. Its not as though he discovered a cure for Cancer:angry:
Yep, for a fee of £80m.

Just read it on the Daily Mail site :(
But I can't believe the money this deal is for:eek:
I know, it is obscene imo.
It is when you think all they really do is play football and fall out of nightclubs with wanna-be wags :(
and fergie has the cheek to call man city for what they paid for Robinho.
had a feeling he would go, as much as i hate man united it is probably for the best he has gone, no man is beter than the club. Should be interesting to see who Fergie lines up as a replacement.
I wonder who will be the replacement! Will it be an English player or someone from another European country?
a lot of my friends are talking about either Ribery, who is a good player or Valencia from Wigan! They seem to be the rumours that are circulating. They are OK but nothing compared to Ronaldo, 60 goals in 2 seasons. That takes some replacing. If you think about the goals he scored like that 40 yarder against porto in the semi final without that one to get him through the other players didnt look like scoring.
I think Tevez could stay because of this though. I mean Fergie now has the money to keep him on, and he could play a different formation and include both him and Rooney.
I knew after they lost the champions league he would leave - its a shame :(Quote:
Manchester United have accepted a world record £80 million bid from Real Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo.
After warding off the Spanish club's interest in the Portuguese World Player of the Year this time last year, United said in a statement on Thursday that talks could begin over a possible transfer to the nine-times European champions.
"Manchester United have received a world-record, unconditional offer of 80 million pounds for Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid," the club said.
"At Cristiano's request - who has again expressed his desire to leave - and after discussion with the player's representatives, United have agreed to give Real Madrid permission to talk to the player.
"Matters are expected to be concluded by June 30."
Real Madrid confirmed they had made an offer for Ronaldo.
"The club expects to reach an agreement with the player in coming days," Real said in a statement.
Should Real complete the signing of the 24-year-old it would seal a remarkable double after the Spanish giants snapped up Brazilian playmaker Kaka from Milan this week for a fee reported to be around £58m.
Kaka was the first player to be signed since Florentino Perez returned to the presidency this month and Real Madrid appear intent on continuing their spending spree despite the disapproval of European governing body UEFA.
"It is very puzzling at a time when football faces some of its worst ever financial challenges," UEFA president Michel Platini said.
"These transfers are a serious challenge to the idea of fair play and the concept of financial balance in our competitions."
United have always rejected the advances of Real for their most prized asset, even threatening to report them to FIFA last year over their pursuit of the player.
However, they now seemed resigned to losing Ronaldo, who has always said it would be his dream to play for Real, albeit for a staggering sum of money.
Ronaldo joined United from Sporting Lisbon in 2003 as an 18-year-old in the wake of David Beckham's move to Real Madrid and quickly established himself as arguably the most high-profile player in the Premier League.
His goals have helped United win three consecutive Premier League titles as well as the Champions League last year when he scored in the final against Chelsea.
In the 2007-08 season he scored 42 goals which topped the previous club record for a midfielder held by George Best. Last season he managed 26 goals, taking his tally for United to 118 in 292 appearances.
In January he beat Barcelona's Lionel Messi and Liverpool striker Fernando Torres to win FIFA's World Player of the Year award, the first player from an English club to win it.
United must now concentrate on replacing Ronaldo. Moves for one or more of Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery, Wigan's Antonio Valencia and Lyon forward Karim Benzema would go some way to filling the void.
Real's cash could allow Ferguson to keep Carlos Tevez, who had appeared close to leaving after United refused to meet the £32m price tag set by his economic rights holders, although the two parties remain apart on the Argentine's wage demands.
He had to go the offer was too good to turn down. When Ronaldo came to Man U six years ago he was an unknown just think of the amount of Ronaldo's they can buy with £80 Million quid. I agree the money they got for him is ludicrious but it's reality no footballer is worth that especially most of today's young footballers they'll will never be as good as George Best, Pele or Kenny Dalgliesh
Of course it will make a difference. Ronaldo and Rooney are probably United best players by far - Edwin van der Sar, Giggs and Scholes are old and near retiring and now with Tevez and Ronaldo gone United will suffer unless they can buy the quality players.
Dimitar Berbatov has been a waste of a buy he is a disaster :thumbsdow
United need a good midfielder, winger, striker, goalkeeper and defender (i dont think they ever bought a player similar to Keane since his departure) Hargreaves is injured, Carrick isnt a great player.
Does not seem to matter where Man U is concerned - talking of always coming back smelling of roses, or in their case, silver ware in form of large cups. :)
united suporters have been waiting for this to happen for a long time! his heart went out of united when he was turned down last time! and £80m can buy more than one player and much better player than ronaldo...so well done united for bagging £80m on one player
Bayern Munich midfielder Franck Ribery, Lyon striker Karim Benzema and Wigan midfielder Antonio Valencia so these are Fergie top targets
Looks like David Villa is on his way to Madrid as well! So that was one if his targets gone. I think Ribery is good but his proce tag is 55 million and i really dont think he is that good.
I think Valencia will be his best bet afterall he has premier league experience.
I still think that United will do well next season, but i think they wioll miss Ronaldos goals. THey wont miss his little temper tantrums though. They were very amusing though.
I hope United get himQuote:
Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has claimed Chelsea, Manchester United and Barcelona have made offers for France playmaker Franck Ribery.
Ribery is a known target for big-spending Real Madrid but Rummenigge has revealed three of their European rivals have stolen a march in their pursuit of the 26-year-old.
The former Germany international, speaking in an interview with Bild newspaper, said: "We are relaxed and proud that we have one of the best three players in the world under contract.
Asked if Madrid made an offer, he replied: "No but other clubs have done.
"Chelsea have lodged a bid, as have Manchester United and Barcelona.
"We are completely relaxed about it. The power lies with Bayern Munich."
Bayern have repeatedly insisted Ribery is not for sale, and Rummenigge is adamant the club will not relent and cash in on their prize asset.
He added: "I don't want to talk about sums of money because it is not in our interest.
"The amount is irrelevant.
"There is always going to be the perception that Bayern Munich are trying to push the price up and that there is a certain value at which we'll have to accept, but I'll say it again: we want to keep Ribery.
"A player has to respect his contract, in his case until 2011. He is on holiday now and then we want to have a successful season with Franck next year."
Rummenigge is concerned at the figures being splashed around this summer with Real Madrid having spent £56 million on Kaka and agreeing a world-record £80m fee with Manchester United for Cristiano Ronaldo.
"It makes me concerned for the future," he said.
"These amounts would not be possible in Germany due to the license agreements but in Spain the rules are different.
"I have already arranged a meeting with (UEFA president) Michel Platini to discuss the matter.
"We need to have new rules regarding financial fairplay."
Sir Alex Ferguson has been told he can have prime target Karim Benzema – if he comes up with £30m.
The 21-year-old Lyon striker is the hottest property in France and Manchester United have been trailing him for the past two years. Until now Lyon have insisted they are not willing to sell. But now they have admitted they will do business if the price is right.
And that kind of money would not be a problem for Ferguson, with United raking in £80m for Cristiano Ronaldo – and a further £120m in two huge sponsorship deals.
United yesterday announced a five-year, £8m-a-year deal with Chinese electronics giant Aigo, following the four-year, £80m shirt sponsorship with American insurance company AON two weeks ago.
Add an impending £6m deal with Hull for striker Fraizer Campbell and Ferguson is armed with one of the fattest of chequebooks.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas admitted a big offer could be impossible to refuse, even though he believes the player would prefer to stay another year.
Aulas said: “There is a tsunami called Real Madrid which provokes reactions at Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United. So it is very complicated to say that he is non-transferable.
“I won’t hide from you the fact he has been approached. For the moment, I managed to convince them not to go further.”
Lyon know it would be mad to reject a massive offer for Benzema, whose value would plummet if he stayed and flopped at the World Cup next summer.
United still search to replace Ronaldo, whose move to Real was yesterday described as “vulgar” by Sir Bobby Charlton.
Ferguson, who still hopes striker Carlos Tevez will accept the club’s offer of a permanent deal, was last night rumoured to have entered the chase for £18m England and Portsmouth right-back Glen Johnson.
Liverpool thought they had seen off Chelsea. Now, a third club is in the frame – and Manchester City denied it was them.
FROM BBC SPORT
Manchester United have confirmed that Carlos Tevez is leaving the club.
United were willing to pay the £25.5m to turn the striker's two-year loan move into a permanent five-year deal but Tevez, 25, has decided to move on.
"Disappointingly, his advisors informed the club that he does not wish to continue playing for Manchester United," read a United statement.
"The club thanks Carlos for his services over the last two seasons and wishes him good luck for the future."
Tevez became a crowd favourite during his time at the Old Trafford club and helped the side win the last two Premier League titles as well as the 2008 Champions League trophy.
But he has joined Cristiano Ronaldo in wanting to exit the club, with his final appearance being as a substitute in United's loss to Barcelona in the 2009 Champions League final.
United said they were willing to make Tevez "one of its highest paid players" but were told by the Argentine's advisors, who own the player's economic rights, that he would not be accepting the offer of their deal.
Manchester City are now favourites to sign him but he has also been linked with Chelsea and Liverpool.
City's financial clout makes them the frontrunners as their manager Mark Hughes tries to put together a squad capable of challenging the top four of United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal.
Tevez scored 15 goals last season but was frustrated at continually finding himself on the bench for key games and was wary of the issue ahead of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Despite the affection of United's fans, he has reportedly complained of a lack of respect from the club and his treatment at their hands.
Tevez's adviser Kia Joorabchian recently explained that United's failure to sign his client up permanently last summer and in January 2009 were behind Tevez's complaints.
His departure now leaves United manager Sir Alex Ferguson without two of his most influential players of recent seasons.
Wigan midfielder Antonio Valencia has been linked with a move to United as the club try to replace the duo.
I think that Liverpool are also out of the running talksport said before and SKY reckon that the only contact has been Manchester CIty and Chelsea. Hopefully he will stay in Manchester, i think he will be brilliant at City.
Manchester United have targeted Atletico Madrid’s £45m striker Sergio Aguero.
Sir Alex Ferguson has turned his sights on the young Argentine star after giving up on Valencia’s David Villa, who is expected to join Real Madrid.
Aguero – nicknamed Kun – has scored 37 leeague goals in the last two years for Atletico and is only still 21.
Chelsea have already made contact over the talented striker, but were put off by his £200,000-a-week wage demands.
But Fergie is hoping that Aguero will lower those as he would get the chance to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world.
The £80m United will get for Cristiano Ronaldo is starting to burn a hole in Fergie’s pocket.
United would be prepared to offer Aguero, who is married to Diego Maradona’s daughter, a five year deal at £120,000 a week, but again hope the lure of Old Trafford would be enough to attract him.
Atletico’s president Enrique Cerezo has made it clear recently that the club would be willing to listen to ‘interesting’ offers for their star player.
As well as Chelsea, Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan is also interested in the player as he expects to lose Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
But Fergie is believed to want to open negotiations with Atletico and the player’s advisers as soon as possible.
He obviously feels the striker will be perfect for the Premier League and an ideal replacement for Carlos Tevez, who Aguero won an Olympic gold alongside.
Michael Owen has arrived at Manchester United's training ground Carrington to have a medical with the Premier League champions. The 29-year-old hopes to complete a move to United after his contract with Newcastle United ran out.
The former Liverpool and Real Madrid striker is expected to be put through stringent tests, especially on the right knee he injured during the 2006 World Cup. He ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament and had lesser damage to his medial ones only a minute into the group game against Sweden.
Owen scored 30 times in 65 starts for Newcastle but scored his last goal in January. He will be extremely motivated to prove his critics wrong but would nevertheless represent a major gamble for United and their manager, Sir Alex Ferguson. United have sold Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid for £80m while Carlos Tevez has also left the club after his loan deal expired.
United have already signed Luis Antonio Valencia from Wigan for £16m in what promises to be a busy summer at Old Trafford. They did, however, miss out on signing the Lyon striker Karim Benzema, who joined Real Madrid this week for £30m.
Manchester United have cancelled their match against an Indonesia All Star side after bomb blasts rocked two hotels in Jakarta.
The English champions were scheduled to play against an Indonesian all-star team on Monday on the second leg of their pre-season tour, which also included stops in Malaysia, South Korea and China.
The team cancelled the Indonesia leg, however, after bomb blasts ripped through the JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels in Jakarta's business district, killing nine people and wounding dozens.
"It's a bit of a shock for all of us. We just got news of this when we landed," club manager Alex Ferguson said shortly after their arrival in Kuala Lumpur.
"There was no other solution as we had to safeguard our players. So it's the correct decision."
Witnesses said the bombings at the Marriott and the Ritz-Carlton, where the team were due to stay, were minutes apart and it appeared both had occurred inside the hotels, judging from the way windows were blown out.
Ferguson added that the timing of the bombings was just an unfortunate coincidence and something he had never experienced in over two decades of visiting the region with the club.
"We are terribly disappointed because of all the work that goes into bringing Manchester United to Asia," added the Scot, who struggled to be heard at times due to the roars from an adjacent room hosting a meet-and-greet session with the players.
"We have a huge fan base in the region and I have been travelling to Asia for 21 years with this club and always admired the support we have in the Far East.
"For the first time, we have had to cancel a match and that's very frustrating but maybe we can play the game another time."
Club captain Gary Neville said the team had been looking forward to playing in Jakarta but that there was nothing he could do about the decision to cancel.
"Obviously the players are disappointed not to be going to Indonesia," said Neville. "However, the decision is out of my control as I'm just here to play football."
United will kick off their tour in Kuala Lumpur against a Malaysia XI on Saturday and are scheduled to face South Korea's FC Seoul on July 24 before taking on Chinese outfit Hangzhou Greentown two days later.
All 73,000 tickets for United's game in Indonesia sold out three weeks in advance, and it would have been the first time they had visited the Southeast Asian country since 1975.
The club's chief executive officer, David Gill, did not rule out the possibility of a rescheduled match with an Indonesian side but explained that a number of factors needed to be resolved before any decision could be made.
"We could bring the Indonesian team here (in Kuala Lumpur). We'll go through all the different possibilities and evaluate which is the most appropriate," Gill said.
"There are lots of things to be done before we sort out the logistics for the rest of the week but we will announce it as soon as we can.
"We have to consider the safety of the players and the staff and everyone else in the team because they are of paramount importance."
Fellow Premier League clubs Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur confirmed that they would continue as planned with their pre-season trips to the region.
"We have liaised with the British authorities in Thailand and Singapore and they have advised us that the security situation there is unchanged so we are going ahead as planned," a Liverpool media officer said.
"But obviously we will continue to monitor the situation."
Liverpool play Thailand in Bangkok on July 22 before taking on Singapore four days later, while Tottenham are involved in a four-team tournament in Beijing along with Hull City and West Ham United.

Manchester United winger Nani is on his way out of Old Trafford after a row with Alex Ferguson following the Champions League draw with CSKA Moscow. The Portuguese told his boss he was unhappy at having been substituted; Fergie reacted by leaving him out of the squad for the Chelsea game and it now seems he will be moved on in January.
Manchester United star Dimitar Berbatov fled his native Bulgaria with his girlfriend and daughter after crime bosses threatened to kidnap the pair, it was claimed today.
The striker is believed to have evacuated his loved ones from Sofia on a private charter plane provided by United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Local mafia dons had contacted Berbatov's mother, Margarita, 10 days ago to tell her that the family was in danger if the £30million footballer did not pay a £500,000 protection fee.
He refused to go to police over the threat to his girlfriend Elena and new baby, Dea, after underworld sources told him that officials from Bulgaria's Internal Affairs Ministry were also in on the plot.
Instead, the star is believed to have negotiated a deal directly with the clan bosses who agreed to leave his family alone.
Elena had returned to Sofia from Manchester to give birth on October 15th and had remained in the city to be close to family and friends.
Berbatov has a horror of gang crime since he was kidnapped by a mob boss as a rising young star in his homeland.
He was snatched from outside the training ground of the local team he was playing for, CSKA-Sofia, and taken on a terrifying ride to meet the country's most feared gangster, Georgi Iliev.
The mobster, later gunned down by a rival, wanted Berbatov, then a rising 18-year-old star, to sign for his own club, FC Levski Kjustendil.
He was only saved when his father managed to negotiate a settlement with a local mob boss.
'Dimi is still very worried for his family and has promised his neighbours money if they notice any suspicious people around his house,' a family friend was quoted in Bulgarian press as saying.
A Manchester United spokesman could not verify the story to the Daily Mail.
It is also claimed that security had been increased around Berbatov's England home - however the spokesman said they would not comment on security issues.
They are not doing too well at the moment
I was at the game on tuesday, was an amazing atmosphere, not much trouble which is always good. P
Edwin van der Sar believes Manchester United have the strength in depth to cope without Wayne Rooney.
United and England were left fearing the worst when Rooney suffered what appeared to be a serious ankle injury towards the end of the 2-1 Champions League quarter-final, first leg defeat by Bayern Munich last night.
Sir Alex Ferguson, the United manager, played down the injury, saying that he did not think it was “terribly serious”, but Rooney left the Allianz Arena on crutches, with his right foot in a protective plastic boot. He will have an MRI scan today to determine the extent of the damage.
There are fears that the 24-year-old may have damaged ligaments, which could rule him out for months, and Rooney seems certain to miss the Barclays Premier League match against Chelsea at Old Trafford on Saturday and the second leg against Bayern next Wednesday. However, Van der Sar believes United can cope without the loss of their 34-goal talisman.
"Against Bolton we also played with some other players," Van der Sar said. "It can happen in the season. You always want your best players available but we know the players coming in can also do a good job."
Park Ji Sung also expressed his confidence that United could reach the semi-finals. "We are disappointed because we were leading," he said. "The early goal was good for us but we weren't able to build on it and get the result. But we have our chance to go through at Old Trafford. Bayern have an experienced team, and the club has a proud history.
"They did well but the situation will be different at Old Trafford. We're waiting for them to come there."
Sir Alex Ferguson tore into his players for giving away the ball too cheaply. “Our possession wasn’t good enough,” the United manager said. “When we brought [Dimitar] Berbatov on [in the second half], we could have stopped giving the ball away in midfield and made some progress in the final third. But the real crux was giving the ball away and it caused us to defend when we didn’t need to defend. The disappointment is we gave it away too easily, all night. Right from minute one, the possession wasn’t to our standard.
“It’s hard to explain because it is something we pride ourselves on and it has been integral to our progress this year. That was a disappointment to me.”
Ferguson praised Van der Sar, the United goalkeeper, for holding Bayern at bay as long as he did.
“We didn’t need to work for our goal and we got it very easily,” the Scot said. “Maybe it was too early, but we had outstanding chances to win the tie, with Wayne in the first and second half, but we would have carried a bit of luck had we done that.
“Time and again, Van der Sar made the saves to keep us in the game and we have to admit that. I didn’t think we started well at all. We scored early, but didn’t play well.
“With their winner, there was a lot of confusion. The ball got caught between [Patrice] Evra’s feet and he stumbled. It allowed [Ivica] Olic to get into the box. He [Evra] was unlucky, but it wasn’t a good goal to concede.” Ferguson believes the tie remains delicately poised, however, and is convinced that the away goal could prove pivotal.
“An away goal is always an advantage, no question about that and the tie is not dead,” he said. “But Bayern have a strong chance. On our own ground we should have a real chance of progressing. It’s very tight.”
Probably wasnt the result they wanted against Chelsea.
I hope Rooney is back tonight even on bench he is really missed when he is out
my mam is driving back to manchester from Birmingham and she has said she has never seen so many green and yellow scarves heading up the motorway!
I think that its all set for a big game, Man United will have to work extra hard, Bayern have sme great players though, ill be keeping an eye on Daniel Van Buyton, an ex blue.
They through it away last night
