Current Episode Discussion - II

Emmerdale, well what can I say? Every episode is sheer perfection, or as close as you can get to it... a million times better than Eastenders, and half a million times better than Coronation Street.

There are characters who you are moved by. Some you love, some you hate, some you feel sorry for and others you want to slap around the face so hard!

The acting and writing is of the highest quality that I've ever seen in British Soap, (sadly I havent been alive to experience better). The storylines are varied, we have the dramatic and unrealisitc ones such as the Housing Disaster and the Kidnap, but then we have down to earth, hard hitting storylines like Alice's cancer, and to add it off a bit of light hearted humour from Viv, Val and co... after all we tune in for entertainment not boring, depressing and unfunny drivel.

I'm glad I took off the rose tinted glasses, as Eastenders really doesnt deserve the fanbase it gets, with the storylines, characters and miserable dross it offers us four times a week, four times too much if you ask me. I am now a complete Emmerdale fan, and it shall be getting my votes from now on unless I see considerable improvement in the other soaps soon.

it is, your sense of navigation does you well... If you took time to read my post you would see that I am talking about Emmerdale, singing it's praises, I am merely comparing it to Eastenders and soaps in general. No doubt if I'd posted the same post in the Eastenders forum you'd have said it should be posted in the Emmerdale forum.

Personally I think there was no need for that comment, obviously by your name you think Eastenders is good, which is good, and it is what the boards are about people having their opinions and points of view. However there is no need to start pointless posts just becuase I'm singing Emmerdale's well earnt praises rather than Eastenders. If you dont agree then that's fair enough, but at least let other members read my opinions. Thanks :)

I thought it was a great episode tonight. Got slightly worried when dad said thats how im going to be treated e.g like Debbie not allowed to eat there bread. I do hope he was only joking. Vivs message tone and donna and Marlon were hilarious. Bob whrer is she wheres it coming from had me in stitches. Poor Del as well you reallyfelt sorry for her. I cant stick Toni shes so irritating. That pan of hot stuff didnt really touch her from what i saw yet she was covered in plaster cast. Great episode overall.

This thing with Sadie & Cain is quite good but I just wish they'd stop talking about it and put their plan into action.

I differ with you here because I am ejoying the aftermath of the Housing disaster and looking forward to the kidnap storyline, mainly I admit because I thoroughly enjoy the characters involved, but also because I personally don't find them unrealistic.
I don't mind a bit of unrealism in the world of TV etc because to me this is how soaps, films etc should be, it is an escape from "reality":)

Emmerdale/ITV certainly have the best writers. The stroylines are excellent and so is the acting. They should definitely win Best Soap, storylines, acting and writing awards.

The thing a lot of younger people wouldn't of realised, (not all as a lot of younger viewers have now switched from Eastenders to Emmerdale - which IMO really tells it how it is) is that Emmerdale was once upon a time the under dog who is now fast beoming the No1 soap, heaviest competiton coming from Corrie which is also shining at the moment:) I foresee in the future a time when Emmerdale will be at the no1 spot on a regular basis:)

Emmerdale has everything spot on, Writing, characters, amount of viewing time for each of the characters (approx a 10-12 day rotation, not incl holidays then obviously it is longer) humour worked into scenes at exactly the right time, excellent actors/actresses, right mix of storylines for all kinds of viewers, and it is the only British Soap which keeps me wanting more and gripped, even during the hour long episodes. Emmerdale is on six times a week and has gone from strength to strength without any deterioation to the quality of storyines/scripts/writing/acting..

Another fabulous couple of weeks in the Dales:

The comedy has been excellent coming mainly from Shadrach, Belle and even Debbie this week.

Cain is becoming more loveable by the episode.
Sadie is becoming very tedious and I can't wait to see the back of her. If she says that she has one more plan without action..arrrgh!
Scott Windsor, still as unconvincing as ever. However I am interested in how things are going to pan out between him and Debbie.
Bob, nice to see him focusing on other things rather than revenge for his daughter's death all the time.
Dingles wonderful as ever.
Paddy, nice to see him having women fighting over him, gives the character new depth.
Grayson, loving him more and more.
Hari, can't take to him.
Loving Rodney and his "VAT" dodging"
The way I can see things panning out in the future is that we could possibly have three sets of millionaires being broke and having to work their way up again, more potential for more excellent writing/scripting and acting.

And lots more excellent viewing on the way!

So did I the other night when Toni ended up in hospital and Del was in tears because she felt it was all her fault. What made it worse was that Paddy was at Toni's bedside telling her that he loved her! The way I see it was that Toni got what she deserved as she was the one mouthing off at Del and threatening to take Paddy away from her:angry:
I think Paddy needs new glasses "your beautiful" or maybe he was just trying to cheer Toni up:lol:

I don't like Scott and not exactly a huge fan of Debbie either but I do think it was a good move to put these two together.

Bob/Viv/Donna/Marlon very funny, Loved it when Bob put Viv in his pint:lol:
Then again later when he was p/d hiding behind the sofa on his hands and knees dreading going upstairs to face Viv. Marlon/Donna very funny also, they are definitely a younger version of Bob/Viv

it was good to see the good old viv back last night, when she said
"It's not everyday i get the chance to tell every one im having twins and rodney blackstock goes banckrupt, trust him to steal my thuinder"

Emmerdale is still shining brilliantly as ever.

Rodney dodging the Tax/Vat man, I am enjoying, Patrick Mower is as brilliant as ever.

Viv/Bob glad to see back in comedy mode.

Sadie/Cain - The plot is thickening, really looking forward to the upcoming storyline.:D
