Well-what I meant is that it takes too long to bury Val. This is soapland, things have to move faster. And some storylines do in fairness, and then they have to drag on Val's funeral. We can all understand Erik's pain, no need to show it in every episode for couple of weeks. Well-thankfully funeral is today.
I'm just feeling sorry for Diane and that poor dog of Val's. Never liked Erik anyway.
Erik is absolutely pathetic!! Enough of this already!! I was really looking forward to Val's funny funeral and here we go.. Erik should have got killed as well, tired of him..
It's really funny how differently we all watch these shows. I think it was boring and was seriously thinking to switch the channel! Eric's emotional bursts are going too far and his behaviour at the funeral was embarrassing! Val would have deserved better send off.. Yes the combine should have finished Eric off on the fields!!
I was disappointed with yesterday's funeral for Val, I'd expected the 'Valtacular' to be much more 'spectacular' and outrageous from what the build-up hype in the news suggested would happen in the weeks before last night. I agree that the video scenes were too long and OTT.
Eric's grief carries on for now. He blames Diane for being involved with Val's death but, of course, it was Eric himself who locked Val and Diane in the mirror maze and then left the village to go to the pub (in Hotton?) with Doug and Rodney.
Alicia stays for a while longer whilst David tries to help his father, but next week (looks like Thursday September 10th) Alicia leaves Emmerdale to go to Portugal (with Paul?) with her exit story being that she can no longer bear to be in the village due to past memories (e.g. the Lachlan storyline, etc).
Natalie Anderson has played Alicia for about 5 years now and has decided to leave but has no clear plan for what to do next other take holidays for now. Her Twitter account presently says she is on holiday in Barbados.

Has anyone mentioned the cause of Val's death, as to why Dianne got out and Val didn't?
When Dianne left Val she was ok, just waiting to be rescued. I haven't heard anyone say or ask what happened to her.

Glass fell on top of her. She wanted Diane to go first.
Strange though that rescuers didn't cover Diane and Val with something and secure/break the glass first. It was too dangerous for themselves too.

Val was trapped under debris -in hall of mirrors.
As was Diane. Rescuer came in with stretcher
-Val told him to take Diane first - which after a bit
of chat between D &V he did.
So Diane got out safely.
Last we saw of Val was her looking up at
a big piece of broken mirror which was
ready to fall and saying something like
" go on do your damnedest to it"
scene closes and next we see is anr
stretcher ( covered) coming out .
Diane was pleased to see stretcher but
distraught when saw it covered.
So I presume the large sharp(.shard)
of mirror had fallen on Val and she had
died of blood loss!!!
That is exactly what happened, MM
My thoughts were that we were maybe meant to think that the dagger-shaped shard of mirror glass went through Val's heart and killed her outright. It was definitely a very quick death on Thursday August 6th.
I saw all that myself on the tele.
What I was saying is that I have not heard anyone in Emmerdale say about what killed Val. One minute she was alive talking to Dianne next minute she is dead and no one has asked what happened.

I dont remember more being said or questions
being asked. The scenes were interwoven with
those about other characters.Probably
too much happening to show all detail?
Must have got death cert or couldnt have
had funeral. But nothing said about that?
As it was an "accident/event" with loss
of life there will be an inquest to determine
liability / responsiblity . These can be months
after the event- longer when aircraft involved.
All.people involved will be called as witnesses
-so perhaps get nore answers then.
Do you think we will hear any more about it?Quote:

Dev never got any compensation when the tram crash ruined his shop. He said he never kept up the insurance payments but that would have no bearing on a compensation claim. Did Tyrone get anything for the death of Molly? Soaps seem to leave all this out.

Lawrence should have given that lad a good kicking for what he attempted to do.
If it were to have been the other way around the police would have been involved.
Duplicate.
I seem to be repeating myself.
If u want an.honest answer - based on soap
form -probably not!
I dont actually remember an inquest after
the ED 1993crash which was much bigger in
terms of loss of life- 4 residents killed+
1 still.unaccounted for! And dozens of foreign
nationals (.Eastern European plane)
Ive checked wiki -very surface check.- and
cant find mention of inquest!
With both crashes there have been complaints
about insensitivity.because of recent events at
the time.
1993 Lockerbie air crash
2015 Clutha crash
So perhaps wont want to re-ignite this
by showing scenes about the legal
aftermath of air- crashes.Theres also
recent tragic Shoreham crash.
As they seem to be building a big story
about the effects the crash and losing
Val is having on Eric- depends on.where
they go with that.
If its mainly his mental state and depression
probably wont hear much about legalities.
If he centres on.justice etc( even tho he was
partly responsible. by locking them in)
then there may be more about inquest etc.
As a general point -I think viewers would
prefer it -if loose ends (such as you mention)
were tidied up.and explained. It doesnt
have to be a big dramatic scene -just a few
lines of dialogue between 2 characters to
say such and such has happened.
One reason they might like to leave some
things unexplained is that it makes retcons
easier to do at a later date!

I am sure I would not sit and drink wine with a total stranger turning up at my house ..
and conveniently robert is back
Feeling sorry for Lawrence. Poor man.
Why can't there be one person in Emmerdale who would be happy?? Oh yes, Emma&James..at the moment..
But-all the fun is gone from this soap.

Might brighten up when Nico returns
and sorts Jimmy out! They are usually
quite funny.Bernices snobby side was funny
too- but has disappeared!
I think the Soaps are having a bit
of a competition about who has the
best "issues" type of story at the moment.
Most of which are important and interesting
but theres not much else .
In real life even when life is bad - there
are funny moments and good news for
someone. Seem to have lost that balance!!

Lawrence seems to be a very astute guy ,surely he'll quickly have some suspicions about the allegations being made by Connor. Get the feeling the clock is ticking for Robert.
Im sure Lawrence is astute in business but
that doesnt make him so in personal relationship.
He might have a lot of mixed emotions here-
was he initially attracted to Connor
his relationship with Robert is complicated
to say least
He was married and had a family but the
gay part of him may still be stronger
If he makes a counter accusation against
Connor does he feel his prison record( for
homosexuality- when it was a criminal
offence) would make them take him less
seriously. Of course it shouldnt but that
doesnt affect how he may feel.
If the matter got to court- what publicity
would he be subject to etc etc.
So he may feel wrongly that "unofficial"
action is best.
Many valid points you make maidmarion . I too hope Lawrence doesn't resort to "unofficial" action but I think he has the potential to do anything when cornered.
What is the bet that Nicola will find some jewellery .... wonder how Jimmy is going to talk himself out of the body of a strange woman on his sofa
