I've made my choices too.. I'm withdrawing my application. I came to the conclusion I'm so not ready to go to Uni and now I want to do Speech Therapy I need Biology.. but I'm so used to the way my shcool etaches, that I don't learn by it.. so I'm finishing my A Levels and going to College to do Biology A Level... and will then go to Uni in 2 years, if I don't change my mind again during that 2 years that is lol
Good for you Kirsty you have to do what feels right and going to college first will be good grounding it also can broaden your choices.
have you made sure that the college you want to go to will allow you to only do 1 alevel? as some want you to do more than one so just make sure. also some colleges offer an A3 course in some subjects which means you can do the whole alevel in a year rather than 2 which you might want to look into. good luck :)Quote:

I've put Aberystwyth as my firm choice. I visited and instantly fell in love with the place.
I emailed the department and they sent a reply saying they can't see any problem with me changing my degree scheme, but I need to do it through my UCAS application.. I don't know how this works though :confused: can anyone shed any light?
I might just wait until I get there in September and deal with it then, saying I enquired about it before by emailing the department.
Ring UCAS up and do it over the phone or email your UCAS leader at 6th form. I haven't a clue where you would be able to change the course online unless you withdraw your application and reapply (which I wouldn't suggest).
yeh i agree with abigail, ring up ucas and ask them how to do it. its better than leaving it til the last minute. id have no idea how to go about changing it on ucas either
As far as I am aware, you can't amend your course choice once you confirm your offers.
i didnt think you could either, but then i never had to do it so maybe you can? either way ucas will know/be able to advise on what is best if you contact themQuote:

what are you changing to?
I want to change to English Literature full honours, opposed to studying the subject as a joint honours with Creative Writing.
I rang UCAS today and enquired about changing course and they said I have to contact my university to ask about changing courses, then they get in contact with UCAS if they allow you to change course and they change your application.
I've already contacted my university though and they just said I need to sort it through my UCAS application.. I might contact my uni again but I feel bad as I don't want to hassle them too much :o
Don't worry about that Davey, admissions people are there to help you. Just phone them up and say, "I am really unsure about how to change my course; UCAS have advised me to do it through you, can you put me through to someone who can help?'
Don't assume that the person you are speaking to is the right one, if you start asking them questions they will do their best to help but they might not know and you might get incorrect advice.
I cannot tell you how often I get call transferred to me about undergrad admissions - and I have nothing to do with that at all.

I used that as a template as I wasn't sure what to say and I was a bit nervous :o I phoned them up and the woman was a bit brutal on the phone, telling me I was wrong to phone and I should write a letter instead. How was I meant to know that? She said I have to write a letter of consideration, for them to consider whether or not I can change my course.
I think I am going to wait until September. I might enjoy the Creative Writing side of it so I'll give it a go. It's just I think my writing is rubbish anyway and I have writers block at the moment. Maybe that will change. I've let them know who I am anyway. Hopefully if I am not enjoying the course in September, they'll let me alter so I can just do English on its own.
She sounds quite rude, but it seems you have the information you need now anyway. (Perhaps she is grieving Michael Jackson, lol).
If you are just having last minute nerves about the quality of your writing I would stop right there. You have got a place on the course on your own merits - you are good enough.
It is a good plan to wait and see if you enjoy the course, but if you don't make sure that you do something about this then - life is too short to spend studying something you don't like.

Everyone on the UWE facebook group seems to be getting accommodation emails. Since about 1pm.
I haven't got mine yet. Its so frustrating! I want to know where I am (as long as results go ok) staying. :p

I'm not sure. I'll ask.
But UWE have been quite slow they were meant to allocate accommodation in May lol.
At Staffs they don't allocate until offers have been confirmed in August, including those who deferred from the previous year. I got an application in February but didn't find out until a few days after exam results.
I've just had a look at the accommodation down there. It's very expensive, even the Unite rooms :eek: I thought I was being stung for 3.5k, never mind almost six grand!

Well £5,386. :p I'm going to be so much in debt anyway...I just have to be careful with money. Grants and loans should cover the cost.
The other accommodation on campus is 4,079 so I figure I might as well pay extra for nice new ones with soundproof walls. :lol: Also 2000 students will be living in the four buildings so I won't be short on people to meet. :lol:
mine was like 1500, but then again it was like an army barracks! as my mate described it.
It was a temporary building fifteen years ago.
Im looking forward to moving into my new flat next year. It sounds really good!

I don't think I have. If I have I don't know how I did it. :lol: I received a good luck message from them yesterday and that should be from the same address because there is a UWE 'portal' where messages are sent and they email you to tell you to check it. But there is no sign of anything about accommodation.
Maybe they put .com instead of co.uk, sent it to the wrong email or something like that.
I managed to block soapboards without realising once and wondered why I wasn't getting any emails.
It's worth checking with the university to see if they have your right email address.
I got the email :D I got another one this afternoon. We have to pay the deposit. Then its mine. (providing grades come through of course)
Its Flat 104 but I've no idea what floor that is. My court has the most largest number of students woo. :lol: 564. Least I won't be lonely eh. :lol:

I can't decide on my 5. I thought it would be easy as not many unis do the course I want. I'm down to 6 at the moment and wishing we were still allowed 6 choices. I'll probably have 7 again tomorrow :lol:
