This is something that also annoys me, even when they do zoom in, often as not, they do not give enough time to to read it. This is something that as in life happens more frequently so is becoming more annoying. What I do is record the program as I am watching it so that I can go back to it later and pause these bits. Also I leave Audio Description turned on all the time as this will often tell you what is written.
