I think Emmerdale were well aware in advance that they could be problems with Thursday's episodes. They certainly started to deal with them within minutes of Thursday's second episode with statements on their Twitter telling viewers that all would be explained and quickly releasing that short video clip of Robert saying no in the Friday episode.
