Coronation Street star Barbara Knox has said that working on the soap has kept her young.
The actress, who has played Weatherfield's Rita Sullivan for nearly 50 years, will turn 80 at the end of the month.
Speaking on ITV's Lorraine, Knox said: "I can't believe I'm going to be 80! I just don't feel as old as I should, which is ridiculous but it's this programme - it keeps you young!"
Knox also revealed that her late mother is her inspiration behind her soap alter ego Rita.
She said: "My mother was a great person, very good, very kind, very funny and I thought if I can get some of that character in Rita, always trying to help people and be kind - that's where my inspiration comes from.
"She was what I would like me or Rita to be."
Knox was speaking ahead of the closing date for nominations for Lorraine's Inspirational Woman of the Year award.

Coronation Street star Kate Ford has reportedly split from her TV producer husband.
The actress, who plays Tracy Barlow on the ITV soap, has agreed a trial separation from Jon Connerty six years after they married, The Sun on Sunday reports.
Sources told the paper that the pair have grown apart and insisted that no-one else is involved in the split.
Connerty will apparently move out of their family home in London but will continue to share custody of their 5-year-old son Otis.
Ford often spends time away from her husband while filming Coronation Street in Manchester.
She recently said that she doesn't know whether there is a genuine love between her character Tracy and boyfriend Rob Donovan, played by Marc Baylis.
Guess no more babies and time away from Corrie for a while then :(

Coronation Street star Sue Nicholls has admitted that she sympathises with on-screen grandson David Platt following his latest family troubles.
David (Jack P Shepherd) has been disowned by mum Gail and the rest of the Platt clan for causing the road crash which nearly killed his half-brother Nick.
Speaking on ITV's The Alan Titchmarsh Show today (October 29), Nicholls revealed that she has a soft spot for David - just like her character Audrey Roberts.
She explained: "My grandson David - who I will be truthful about - I know he's supposed to be really awful, but I love him. Sue does, and grandma Audrey. I think like a lot of grandparents, they kind of have an affinity with their grandchildren sometimes.
"I know he's done dastardly things and people say, 'Isn't he dreadful?' but I love him and I think Audrey tries to help him more than perhaps the others. And anyway, for goodness sake, come on, his brother slept with his wife. I'm on his side!"
Nicholls also discussed Coronation Street's upcoming set move, revealing that she has mixed feelings over the soap leaving Manchester city centre and moving into MediaCityUK.
She said: "We're moving, I think about Christmas, to the other side of Manchester which is the Quays - which is lovely. I love it and I go there a lot, but I'm quite happy where we are at the minute. It'll be a great wrench and I think Manchester will be sad, because it's part of Manchester.
"I have to admit, without being rude to Manchester, the building was pretty hideous, being a '60s building. But I think Manchester were proud of having it there in the centre, not just for the street but for all the other things they did.
"I will miss it, mainly because at the moment I live just a street away and I can volt over the gate to work. When we move, that's if I'm asked to move, I'll have to pull my socks up and get up much earlier. But we'll see, it's all new, it's all exciting."
