What course have you applied for Abbie?
Animal Behaviour :)
ok biology breakdown:
Unit 1 : C (2 marks off a B)
Unit 2: C (2 marks off a B)
Unit 3: B (dead on)
UNit 4: D (dead on)
So you're probably looking at mid-high C then. Have you handed all your coursework in?
No we have only started the writing parts of it
Im shocked we have left it so late but they want us to do it dead quick
It took us a year to do our A2 coursework. Started it after June AS exams and handed it in the following May :rolleyes: I came top of the class, even though there was only four people doing it.
OMG!
well, well done :D
So I know I have made up my mind Im just tooo nervous for some reason to go on UCAS and do it all :p
Exeter is first choice
and plymouth insurance
Woooo congrats :D :D
Think im ready to accept;
Cardiff - Firm
Nott Trent - Insurance
Well done, I am sure you have made the right decision. :)
Right for plymouth its states the points I need which works out as an average of 3 C's and its specifically asks for a C in biology
Exeter asks for 3 B's in 3 A level subjects
I always thought I would need a B in biology for exeter but it doesnt specify, what does this mean?
I do 4 a level subjects as it is, so do I need a B in biology or not?
Oh right thanks, cos that was my biggest worry, trying to get a B in biology, I mean I'll try and aim for it but whether I get it, is another thing
I'm thinking of applying this year and ive been on the UCAS website but it's all really confusing can anyone help me?
I dont understand the points thing and the requirements for certain places, i don't know the best course to go for (i want to do web design but there are so many different ones) not sure where to apply for, not sure if i want to move away from home either :nono:
what exactly do you need help with Vicky?
Main thing is deciding to move away from home or not i guess, i dunno what is best as i don't know anyone who went to uni so i can ask them.
I also dont know which is best to apply for depending on requirements (dont really understand the requirements based on school/college grades i already have)
And i looked on UCAS website and i typed in web design as a course but different uni's offer different types of courses like some just say web design, others says graphics and web design and others say media studies with web design (and there are loads more different ones)
Ok well the best thing to do is to go on the Uni websites and actually look at the course in more detail, like topics they cover and see which is more interesting to you and which will suit you more
the choice about moving away will come when look at Uni's really
I found it easier to go on the Uni's website and looked at what grades they want and on the UCAS website there is a tarrif table sometime to work out what grades = what points
here is the link to the tables:
http://www.ucas.ac.uk/students/ucas_.../tarifftables/
Anything else you need help with?
Dont think so for the moment but there might be in the future, i dont think them tables can help me till i find my exact grades from college, i know i got merit but it puts it in a 3 grade format eg MMD or what ever, and i dont know what i got when it is shown like that :confused:
What sort of course did you do?
here is a list :
* University of Kent
* Canterbury Christ Church University
* University of Oxford
* Oxford Brookes University
* University of Surrey
* Thames Valley University
* University of Sussex
* University of Reading
* University of Southampton
* Southampton Solent University
* University of Portsmouth
* University of Winchester
* University of Brighton
* University of Buckingham
* University of Chichester

Are you over 21 Vicky? If so you'll be classed as a mature student. If you're unsure about your qualifications, ring the universities up (when you have a rough idea of what course you want to do) and ask to talk to the admissions tutor for the faculty. They'll be able to give you more advice on the entry requirements, they are sometimes different for people who haven't done the usual A levels, HND, NVQ etc and are mature students.
Graphics and web design, media and web design etc are joint honours. How you study them varies (major/minor, equal weight) but the idea is you combine two subject areas into one degree. If you just want to study one subject area then opt for web design or similar on it's own.Quote:

Nope i am 20 in 2 months.
Most of what you just said is like riddles :lol: i dont know what half of it meant haha like degrees and majors etc
just wanted to let you know i confirmed my choices a couple of weeks ago, dundee for my firm and liverpool john moores for my insurance, both for forensic anthropology
Well done, congratulations :)
It is well confusing! if you see a course that you like on UCAS go on the own university website and then it should give you details on what you will study
On the not sure about moving away why dont you just go and look round open days and get a feel for a place, i moved away and i am 2 and a half hours away on a train, which i feel is a nice distance for me you could look for ones that are away from home but not too far away.
That probably sounded like a load of waffle but in my head it sounded ok!
Well done on confirming you offers.
Vicky what Abigail was saying was that with your course you can do it either single honours (you do just that course E.g Drama) or joint/combined honours (combine that course with another one e.g. Drama and English)
Major/minor thing is to do with joint/combined honours - you can major in one subject (E.g. Major in drama) and minor in another (E.g. Minor in English) - basically means you do more drama than english something like 70:30 or something. Or you can do an equal balance of them.
The ucas website is a GODSEND when you come to actually applying :) Its pretty easy to use when you get used to it :D
Oooh done my choices guys; Firm -> Cardiff, Insurance -> Nottingham Trent :D
Oooo well done and congrats Laybe :p :D
*coughs* I mean Layne :D
Why thank you thank you very much .... albie :D
