Josh Schwartz has confirmed that Michelle Trachtenberg is reprising her Gossip Girl role later this season.
Her character Georgina Sparks was last seen fleeing NYU after her brief relationship with Penn Badgely's Dan Humphrey hit the rocks.
Writing on his Twitter, Schwartz confirmed: "You will see the return of Georgina Sparks before the end of Season 3... "
Trachtenberg currently stars in NBC's Mercy, in which she plays one of the female leads alongside Taylor Schilling and Jamie Lee Kirchner.
Gossip Girl returns Monday, March 8 on The CW.

William Baldwin has reportedly been cast in a major role in Gossip Girl.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the former Dirty Sexy Money star has landed the role of Serena's father William van der Woodsen.
Serena's estranged father has never been seen on screen, but she has been searching for him in recent episodes.
Reports say that Baldwin has been booked for at least three episodes, with his first airing in April.
Gossip Girl is currently on hiatus, owing to new CW drama Life Unexpected, which has taken over its Monday 9pm slot. Gossip Girl will return to US screens Monday, March 8.

Miss Selfridge has signed a deal with Warner Bros to sell a clothing collection based on Gossip Girl.
The UK high street store has created a collection of eight dresses inspired by show costume designer Eric Daman and based on the styles of characters Serena van der Woodsen, Blair Waldorf, Jenny Humphrey and Vanessa Abrams.
Warner Bros Consumer Products UK general manager Paul Bufton said: "Fashion is intrinsic to Gossip Girl and a key ingredient in the continued popularity of the series.
"Miss Selfridge has created a collection that is true to the ideals of the show and one that young women will aspire to own."
Miss Selfridge creative director Yasmin Yusuf added: "The dresses we've created are true to the individual style of each of the key female characters."
The range will be available in all Miss Selfridge stores nationwide and online from April 2010, with prices starting at £39.
