You are not alone, I agree with all you have said and while he is not bad looking, he does not set my heart racing :nono: but then nobody in Emmerdale has done that since Matthew King :heart: :D

I really do not care about Lydia and Liv. I am sure I should but I don't. Not sure if this makes me hard, unfeeling and unsympathetic. There seems to be a tendency in Soaps to make characters stupid and or unlikeable. I am trying to think of a character here that I like. The only two I can think of are Paddy and Rhona. Paddy is a bit of a Buffoon but I sort of forgive him. Rhona can be a bit annoying at times but maybe because we do not seem to see her so much now, I can tolerate her. The only other one is Eve Dingle, but who knows when she grows up.

Yes Kirk is a buffoon. He is supposed to be a vet. He's just hopless and hapless.

Hapless and hopeless - Yes - but there is no badness in him, like a lot of the the other characters.
