I have had our rescue cat for nearly four months now . She is lovely but still scared and anxious over slightest thing. Today i had to get a friend daughter who is training to be a vet over to put her flea treatment on and get a coller on her. She just was under the bed for ages. I had to take her to the vets to sign onto a special scheme and they said i had to bring her. We tried for an hour to get her into the carrier meanwhile she **** herself with fear under my daighters bed. In the end i had to get the trainee vet again and she got her in the carrier. At the vets she shed a lot of hair and was trembling. They said it was stress. I do not know what happened to her on the streets before she was rescued but it must have been bad. We treat her so well as give her all the best we can it just feels a bit of a struggle some days. I just spent all day putting bricks around the fencing to make it cat friendly today as advised by the cat rescue. It was an exhausting sunday just to get it ready for her as she is showing interest in going out. She was watching from the window and looked so cute. I just hope it gets easier.
I am sorry kitty is so timid and stressed but I am sure she will get better, although trips to the vet are not appreciated by most animals, my 2 dogs visibly look horrified when they get put on the backseats of the car as that usually means a trip to the vet. And as she is showing an interest in exploring the outside surroundings it sounds as if she is getting a bit braver now. I am sure things will get easier, you seem to be doing a great job :)
Thanks
Four months is only a short time for your cat to recover from her trauma, swmc66, but I'm sure she will eventually. I've been involved with the adoption of lots of unwanted cats and dogs, and have found them to be very much like humans in that early trauma can stay with them forever and mean they might always be nervous and easily stressed. Saying that, I've found cats recover better than dogs and I've never known a cat to not at least almost fully recover after being given plenty of time to settle into a new, loving home.
I've had my little dog for about six or seven years now and unfortunately he's forever going to be very damaged (though I love him to bits and have never regretted adopting him). As I say though, I've never known a cat not to settle down after time in a secure and loving home. One of my mum's cats, Pippin, used to hide away in small, dark spaces when she first adopted him. We didn't see him for days, but eventually he started venturing out after hours spent reaching in to give treats and stroke him and tell him what a lovely boy he was. He's now the most contented and placid cat in the world. :D
It sounds like you're doing all you can for your Luna, swmc66, and I expect that you'll see a very gradual improvement as she feels more secure and learns to relax a bit. Unfortunately, as Perdita says, many animals (even those without difficult starts in life) hate and fear the vet with a vengeance and will fight tooth and claw against being taken. The last cat I had, Simba, used to look forward to going because he knew he'd get lots of attention there - but he's very much in the minority!!! :D
Good luck! http://www.city-data.com/forum/pictu...?dl=1280434485

After several years of absence I find myself back in the north of England to attend my uncle's funeral. My, it has changed and cold here is sure colder than in Spain. Looking forward to meeting family I have not seen for years and some I might not see again as they are all in their late 70s and 80 but also going to meet new members I have not yet met, so interesting times ahead. The circle of life sure is evident for me over the next week or so ...
my sincere condolences. I used to reside in the North West before moving elswhere, I miss the sense of humour people have and the many places I used to shop such Chester.
My sincere condolences . I used to reside in the North West before moving elsewhere, places like Chester were just many of the places I would go shopping.

Job Update. I got a letter yesterday from the people who are going to help me get a work choice, they have made an appointment for me to see their adviser next week. So progress has finally been made after what seems an endless round of job hunting with no interviews or even replies!!! The letter said ' please bring a form of ID such passport, and a current CV. My hope this time is not be slouched in a chair for 2 hours listening to the same old stuff I had 2 years ago. Well I should be grateful .
Here's hoping for a good result next week.

Fingers, toes and eyes crossed for you, pyrocanthus :)
Today at 10.00 am off I went for my interview at a beauty salon nearby, dressed in my business suite, I found the venue with ease as its located less than two minutes around the corner from the bus stop. I was there 15 minutes early, after entering the salon I was greeted with a cheerful 'Can I help you' to which my reply was 'I've an appointment with name of the manager,my name is .....' I was then told to wait for a few minutes. After a while she came downstairs and greeted me with a smile before ushering me upstairs to the interview room ( beauty room). It's just an informal chat she replied. After 10 minutes or so it was over, now I await the outcome. I will post the result soon.
Best of luck.. will keep everything crossed for you
Three weeks ago my laptop went south .. I can fix software issues myself but this was a total failure of the mother board ..this happened two weeks before the manufacturers garentee ran out .. luckily and I dont ever normaly do this I took out PC worlds insurance thingy when I bought it, it may of taken three weeks to sought but its now done and dusted.. I paid them 50 quid in total over the months of cover yet the new mother board on its own was 150 quid..
All hail thou my new smart phone, it saved me when the chips where down.. it has the biggest screen I could find and the android software does magnification and high contrast ,, not really a fan of google but it really works for me ...

Totally exhausted!! Over last 11 months I have been doing a distant learning course and just finished rewriting all my notes. All homework assignment have been completed and returned. Out of 12 topic, 10 were A's and 2 B's so overall got an A average. Just waiting for the arrival of my big test which will consist of practical and theoretical work that will take up to 6 weeks to complete but hopefully after that I will have a lovely certificate to say I am a certified Web designer.
Hardest part for me was the translation from German to English to try and understand what was need for the homework assignments. But I am done!!! On to my next programming language to learn and keep up adding to the stuff I have learned so far. :D
Well done that is a great achievement
Went on the x6 bus to Eastleigh.. loved it .. I cant drive anymore but Im going to master bus routes this year..
Im finding it amusing how many people jump out of the way when I have to deploy the white cane, it has been ironic thou that the only people that dont are those in electric wheel chairs who just seem to drive where they want at top speed...seems there is no solidarity in us disabled. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::crying:
Insured my new smart phone with Debenhams ... cheaper than THree...but i did loads of quotes and you really have to read the small print re excess etc.
Car travel is a real chore nowadays let alone trying to park at your destination. Take a bus as often as possible . I bet you'll find a phone app with bus routes ,e.t.a.'s for various stops Splashy. As far as mobility scooters are concerned they can be a nightmare for pedestrians. I'm sure one or two of 'em would have those spikes fitted to the wheels given half a chance, same as Masala had on his chariot in Ben Hur
 oh so true Glen
Spent today at my flat with a lovely letting agent, my second quote on renting the property. 25 quid down on the first one but they do a package whereby they rent the property off me and let it so its not my problem but theirs if the renter ends up on "cant pay we will take it away" on TVs channel 4 :ninja: ,, even paying their fees for that earns me more interest than if I sold the property and put the money in a savings account. .. our country hates and punishes savers.
Local lecky company installed new metre reader , the chap was very pleasant and we had great banter, mainly him moaning that my spark had made his job hard becaouse of the placement of the power box.
A Hit and A miss thou was the man quoting for two new storage heaters, apparently they need to be constructed individually by German elves from parts imported from never never land and installed by engineers shipped in from Venus and would be around 4 grand  But we would get a discount if the Venus engineers could come on a set day when others where having there gold plated hand made heat boxes of joy installed... dont get me started on his closing pitch about how I should pay a deposit now because they where German and how more expensive they might be next week due to currency falls due to Brexit. Yeah cant kid a kidder, i did closing sales courses for years meself. ABC
