Have to enrol tomorrow and still have no EMA notification certificate. My mum's just watched the news and she said it's the same people doing that as marked this year's SAT's papers. Great, I still have to pay £45 a month for a bus pass out of my own pocket. I thought 2 payments when I haven't even gone back to school was ridiculous.
They think people won't be able to go back into go back into education because of this, and the government keeps on that there's not enough people staying on after 16 as it is.
Happy birthday Tannie, welcome back Perdita :D
Looks like another day watching House for me
Happy Birthday Tannie :D
Welcome back Perdita hope you had a nice time :)
Boooooooooooring day!
First day back at school, and it's just gone soooo slow.
I have so many frees now lol, I don't know what to do with myself! I'll probably end up living in the library this year!
Driving soon, I don't want to go.. the rain is absolutely hammering down here and we have a little interval of sun :(
I'll still have the same amount of frees as last year cos Im staying with all 4, Im dreading getting my timetable though and hating it
My first day back at school today too. I have loads of frees as well now Kirsty - they messed up my timetable though by missing off English.. so I had to go and sort that out and we have a new school day - 4 lessons in the morning, 1 in the afternoon. It was rather weird today with the new timings but I'm sure I'll get used to it.
Welcome back Perdita and happy birthday Tannie. :)
Our school days changed too, well... form is first thing now not after 1st lesson, but since I want EMA I have to go in tomorrow first thing then sit about for like 2 hours!! Urghh :( Oh well, maybe this EMA thing will be good because it'll get me moving to do alot more work and do alot better :)
I got EMA last year - if your entitled too it, it's really worth getting it. I got £20 once every 2 weeks, and 2 £100 bonuses throughout the year on top of that for doing well.
Unfortunately I am not entitled to it this year as my family's income is over the threshold.
I'm the opposite lol. I couldn't get it last year but can this year as my Granch is in a lower paid job... and I'm going to take full advantage of this EMA!
The only thing I don'tr liek about my timetable is that all my lessons are in like.. doubles.
Today I had double English Language. The joys!
And tomorrow double English Literature, I only found out what books we were doing today as I didn't know if I wanted to take it or not! 1984, Dr.Faustus and The Handmaids Tale..I'm not looking forward to it :(
At college we have loads of doubles, we only have one 1hour lesson of each subject each week, the rest are all 2 hours. I like 2 hours though, I feel we work better and get more done
Ooooh I feel invincible
Okay so went with Mum to Selfridges & Hamley's...
And we took the tube!
She dosen't have a clue and niether did I..
Seriously I barely ever go on the tube as my Dad always says things and puts Mum off  So as I went with my cousin last week I felt confident and I couldn't believe how EASY it was to get around.. So quick as well.. Wow..
So now I feel like I can travel the world  Okay, maybe not!
But I definitely wouldn't mind going uni and coming back home after work maybe everyday! ;] :D x
My school has changed their school day. Visitors thought it was lazy that we didn't start lessons until 8.55am after a 20min tutor. The day starts at 8.40 with lessons for two hours then a 20min break then two more hours of lessons and dinner at 1pm  Another lesson after that then a 20minute tutor at the end of the day.
I'm so pleased that I've left, couldn't start lessons that early in the morning. I don't know if some of the students there will cope with four hours of lessons in the morning.
On top of that, the school has a new building that is going to be used whilst one of the old buildings is being knocked down. There are also portakabins as there isn't enough classroom space so I can imagine it's going to be a fun day tomorrow when they all go back :rotfl:
Lol, Im used to lunch at 1pm, last year there was only once or twice I think my luch was at 12
Haha our school day used to be like that, but now we have form at 8:35, lesson 1, lesson 2 break at 10:55-11:15, then lesson 3 & 4, dinner at 1:15-2:00, then lesson 5 until 3. I hate having dinner so late, it's jsut silly because I never want tea then :thumbsdow
Edit: On another note, the cinema have emailed the peole who didn't get the job today, I wasn't one so fingers crossed! I'm not getting my hopes up though, they could email me at any time saying I haven't got it.
I start sixth form tomorrow.. Slightly not looking forward to it.. Nervous about what teacher I am going to get and who's in my classes.. And also the thought of meeting new people!.. Will let you guys know how it goes for me and what changes have been made! :) x
I'm staying at the same school so not so much the new people thing for me. I kind of wish I was going somewhere new in the hope that I wouldn't find so many people that regarded being disabled so negatively. Ah well, it'll be new and even more mature people (hopefully) for uni in 2 years time.
My school day is quite like most people's on here. 8.35 is registration with first lesson at 8.40. Lessons are an hour long each and we have two before a 20 minute break, 2 more before a 40 minute lunch, 20 minute registration/assembly then 1 lesson in the afternoon. The only thing they've changed since I started there in Year 7 are the warning bells after break and lunch. It used to be 5 minutes before the lesson but now it's 2 as no one bothered to leave the hall when it went off so it was pointless having it that early.
Enrolment day for me tomorrow. I was supposed to hand in my EMA notification certificate but I don't have it because of the delays this year. My friend said to get the earliest possible bus so we could meet up so she better be at the bus stop at the time she said. If she doesn't show I will be wandering around all day by myself as my bus pass is only valid for a certain bus which only comes back at 3:05. I'm not getting the other one and paying for it and then paying for another one from town. I can't actually walk that but the bus company don't care and the bus from town is a rip off. I'm not quite disabled enough to get free fares even though I can't walk that.
my sister went yesterday and was fuill of it she loves college. all these frees i was really jelous. I am really getting the hang of work. Its going to be weird goijng back to uni and doing nothing all day which is basically what you do to what im doing now which is jam packed jobs all day. Its like complete opposites.
Oh and some little **** has nicked me mams phone and Purse from her car last night. Fair enough it was a bit silly leaving it in there but your only human, it doesnt help dad shouting at her. Oh well he'll get over it. The credit cards have all been cancelled so thats ok.
at my old school we had to be in at 8.25am for registration and then lessons started at 8.40am and lunch wasnt til 1.10pm and we had a 15min break in between, we didnt finish school til 3.25pm either! although i have to admit, i still eat lunch later im never hungry for it earlier than that, although that might be cos i just got used to it after eating late at school
yesterday i went out for chinese with my sis and little cousin, i ate too much as usual as its only £7 for the buffet including the dessert buffet! the man didnt want to give my cousin the kiddie price to start with cos he said she was too tall! shes only 8! then wandered around town for a bit, my little cousin wanted to look in claires, we must have been in there about 1hr and im sure we looked at every single thing in the shop at least 4 times! in the end i told her i was leaving her cos we were going! then we spent ages in blockbuster trying to choose a film cos she kept saying she had seen them all! finally got "just my luck" which was actually quite funny. also watched "mr beans holiday" cos my little cousin had just bought it. then while we were babysitting her in the evening cos my auntie had gone out we made pizza (which was my aunties idea before she left!), i dont know how a little kid can make so much mess, she had flour all over her face and cheese in her hair! i had a good day though, although when we went home i accidently left the food shopping my mum asked me to buy for her at my aunties lol!
I am keeping fingers crossed for you to get the job, if you have not been emailed that you have not got it, must be promising.
I really hope so. I need to get alot more independance, boost my confidence levels soo mcuh and jsut, stop the family from giving me money all the time because I'm 17 and we're not exactly well off and I want to earn my own money and help my family out for a change so I really really want this job lol
Is this at high school? Geesh you guys start early!
We have Form at 9 until about 25past 9 then we have two lessons, a 15min break, another lesson, a 50minute lunch then form for 10 minutes, two more lessons and finish at half three, but half two on a Wed, and we still do the same amount of lessons on wednesday, just no form.
yeh that was at my secondary school. although my primary school wasnt that much difference, we had registration at 8.45am and lessons started at 9am, lunch was at 12.30pm and we left at 3.25pm. your school starts quite late lol compared to any school where i live! and i cant believe you leave earlier on wednesdays!
We didn't have any frees in Year 11 either. I had a tutor in Years 7-9 who I got on really well with and who got rid of us in the end because she couldn't put up with the amount of immature boys that we had in the group. She has a Year 12 tutor group this year and the 6th form secretary woman who we had to register with today was flicking through the timetable and I was sure I saw that tutor group on mine but it wasn't :(
Hmm timetable.. well I miss Business because we have to stay in our tutor group tomorrow for an hour, then have a free. Luckily my friend has a free at that time or I wouldn't have anything to do because I don't have a lesson until after break. My Business/Economics teacher is so going to get fed up on me; I have her two lessons in a row on one of the days and I have her twice a day on quite a few of the days. She gets Wednesdays as a break though because I don't have her at all on that day lol!
On Tuesday I have one lesson after another in the same room. If we don't get a seating plan which most teacher's don't give then I won't even have to leave my seat
Went to my friend's house after we enrolled. We didn't know where the time went. We had to eat lunch quickly in the end before I missed the bus.
The council  They're charging £45 a month for a bus pass and I thought it was ridiculous enough that I had to pay to go and collect it from school. When I got there they didn't make me sign for it or anything and the envelope actually had my address on the front. Then I open it and find that the thing expires on 19th December! Now I'll have to pay to go and pick up a new pass in January, it seems completely stupid to me because I'm paying up until July that I have to have different passes in that time. I bet the driver decides to charge me on the 19th because it says it expires on that day.
Looking forward to seeing who is in my classes tomorrow. I know that the two friends I put down on my form are in my tutor group but I don't know who else is in it.
There was a portaloo in the school today :hmm: Made me think of the post about a portacabin further up.
That is outrageous Kim. I pay £24 a month for a bus pass for Marley. The Council won't provide one for her as I chose to send her to a school outside the catchment area, but the pass she has she can use it on anytime. Up here if you have a disability or require addition support you get a free travel pass for you and 1 other person, a carer perhaps. It can be used on buses, trains or coaches.
I'm thinking it's expensive, too. I used to pay £150 a year for my unirider. Which company is it? Are there any student tickets available?
thats why i was thinking it was expensive, i only pay £100 a year (well probably about 9months cos its a uni year) and i can use it on any bus i like of that company in the whole county! i know thats a special discounted student ticket, but even the tickets everyone can by is only £9 a week (thats not the whole county, just the whole town and surrounding area) but thats still less than £45 a month
not done anything today, been quite boring! my auntie brought round the shopping we left at her house yesterday but that was about it. cant wait til a few weeks when im back at uni
