Jeff Hordley has teased that there is a further big storyline ahead for Cain, as the 50th anniversary of the popular soap approaches.
?I do know that after this there?s something else coming that?s pretty big,? he hinted, piquing all of our attentions.
?But I can?t tell you ? I?ll lose my job!?

Saw him on Loose Women earlier this week. He said there will be lots of ripple effects from this story line, which makes sense to me.

Cain Dingle is to be diagnosed with prostate cancer in a major new storyline for 2026. The news has been revealed by show bosses after the recent Corriedale crossover event left fans worried about Cain's health.
Cain was admitted to hospital after being shot during a showdown with John Sugden out in the woods. When tests were run, doctors found "a sizeable mass" and advised Cain that he could have cancer so would need immediate further checks.
Emmerdale's producer Laura Shaw has now announced the outcome of those tests, with the new storyline set to run across this year in some emotional episodes.
She said: "The Dingle family are set to face huge repercussions and Cain is at the centre of a major prostate cancer storyline spanning across 2026."
Cain's wife Moira already knows about his health concerns, although he's opted not to tell the rest of his family for the time being.
Sadly, there's every chance that Moira won't be around to support Cain when he needs her the most. Next week's episodes see Moira arrested for human trafficking after damning evidence is found at Butler's Farm, which unfairly links her to Celia Daniels' illegal operation.
Shaw added: "Adding to their devastation, Moira will be arrested for human trafficking, with her arrest timed to coincide with her husband's diagnosis. Their complex marriage will be tested as they face dark times."
Viewers know that Celia was trying her best to implicate Moira in her own crimes, shortly before she was murdered by her son Ray Walters last month.
There could still be another twist to the tale, though, explaining how crucial evidence finds its way inside Moira's home too. Next week, Kim Tate asks Joe whether he has anything to do with Moira's arrest, then backs down and decides that she's better off not knowing.
Is Joe helping to frame Moira as part of their ongoing farm wars? As ever, all will be revealed…
Prostate cancer affects the prostate gland under the bladder and can often be cured if caught early – further information can be found via the NHS website. More details about Cain's journey will be revealed on screen in the coming weeks.
