The Child She Thought She'd Never Have

Part 15

They walked through the hospital corridors and found the department they needed to be in. Sharon had always dreamt of coming here for this reason but never thought that she would actually be doing it. They booked in at the reception desk and took a seat in the waiting area. Dennis took hold of Sharons hand and gave it a little squeeze. She looked up and into his eyes and could tell how excited he was. She smiled at him lovingly.
"Miss Watts." A nurse with short hair and glasses was standing near the reception desk with a file in her hand. Sharon and Dennis both stood up and followed her down the corridor and into a room.

"If you would just pop yourself up onto the bed Miss Watts and we'll do your ultrasound. If you'd just like to take a sit there." She looked at Dennis and pointed to the chair next to the bed. Sharon got up onto the bed and the nurse undid her trousers and lowered them to her waist. Dennis took hold of Sharons hand again and held it tight. He was so excited, all he was hoping for was that the baby was healthy. The nurse squeezed gel onto Sharons stomach and spread it around with the scanner. She looked closely at the monitor for a couple of minutes and then smiled.
"You're about 20 weeks pregnant Miss Watts, everything looks fine. Do you want to know the sex of the baby?"
"I don't but Dennis does. I want it to be a surprise so hes promised not to tell me."
"Ah right, well we'll leave you to get yourself dressed and if you follow me outside Sir i'll give you the good news."

Dennis followed the nurse outside and she turned and looked at him.
"I'm pleased to tell you that you're expecting a girl. A healthy little girl."
Dennis couldn't believe what he had just been told. Sharon had made hs dream come true, he was going to have a family of his own. Sharon came to the doorway.
"Is it safe to come out now?" Dennis turned and took her in his arms and hugged her tightly. The nurse walked off and left them alone.
"I'm so happy Sharon, you're giving me everything I have every dreamt about. I'm so proud of you."
"Whats got into you?!"
"You! The baby! Everything! I can't believe that everything has worked out for us."
"I know, after everything dad did to split us up. He'll be turning in his grave as we speak now."
"Yeah well not for long as he'll be gone by tonight."

Part 16

Sharon and Dennis got a taxi back to the Vic. Sharon got out of the taxi and turned to Dennis.
"Will you be long?"
"No not too long sweetheart, be back before locking up."
"Ok, see you then." Sharon shut the car door and watched it drive down the market. She turned and walked into the Vic.

Dennis arrived back an hour before locking up and gave Sharon a hand behind the bar and collecting glasses. He couldn't keep his eyes off her, he loved her so much and wa already feeling so protective of his unborn daughter that he would kill anyone who tried to harm either of them.
Sharon locked the doors after the last drinker had left and turned and hugged Dennis.
"I love you Dennis. I can't believe that this time a couple of months ago we were so many miles apart and now look at us. Expecting our first baby, being back in the Vic, back in each others arms. I just can't believe how lucky I am. There's just one thing spoiling it."
"And i'm going to sort that now. Go upstairs and get into bed, I don't want you to be down here when im doing it."
"But I want to be with you, I can't expect you to do this on your own."
"Its not going to be a pretty sight and I don't want you to see it. I'm fine on my own darling. Now the sooner you go upstairs, the sooner I can get started."
"Ok but i'm coming with you when you've got him in the car."
"Sharon no. You're not going to be part of this in any way. What if someone sees something? I don't want both of us ending up behind bars, I want you to be looking after that precious baby inside of you."
"Oh Dennis maybe this is a bad idea, maybe if I jsut get used to the idea that hes here and always will be."
"I'm not going to let him come between us and our little-"
"What were you going to say there?"
"Nothing!"
"You were going to say little boy or little girl! Just stopped yourself in time though."
"I know." Dennis turned and switched the bar lights off and followed Sharon through to the back.
"Go on up. It'll be over with soon." Sharon walked up the stairs and went into her bedroom. She knew Dennis loved her and would do anything for her, which he had proved to her numerous times.

Dennis went into the cellar. He had placed all the tools in there when he had come back. He started hacking at the concrete which was even harder than he thought it would have been. He knew that he had to do this, he had to get rid of him once and for all. He carried on hacking at the concrete for 10 minutes and stopped. He was making too much noise and he wasn't sure what people would think. If it was coming from the Vic they would get suspicious. He turned and walked upstairs and into the bedroom where Sharon was lying curled up in bed.
"I'll have to do it tomorrow darling, making too much noise."
"What will we tell people though?"
"That we've got a problem with the drains or something, they'll never know."
"We'll have to keep Little Mo and Chrissie out of the cellar tomorrow then."
"Well that can be your job coz you still not going anywhere near there till hes gone."

wow... Oooh i hope no one finds out... will Chrissie figure out what they're doing... awwwwwww they're so sweet... yey yey yey... please post more soon...
