That was a given as he is a murderer. However sad he is going
Rob Donovan faces a tough time next week as he is forced to face Tina McIntyre's funeral.
Although Rob is desperate to avoid the emotional service due to his guilt over Tina's demise, he realises that he has to attend in support of his sister Carla.
Here, Marc Baylis - who plays Rob - reveals the latest story developments and discusses the news that he will be leaving the soap later this year.
How would you describe Rob's feelings about Peter at the moment?
"Rob hates Peter. He thinks Peter is a loser and he blames him for everything that happened. Rob never felt he was good enough for Carla."
How does Rob feel about framing Peter for his own crime of killing Tina?
"Rob has totally justified it in his mind. He genuinely feels that although Peter didn't commit the actual murder, if Peter hadn't had the affair and started drinking again, then Tina wouldn't be dead. Rob wouldn't have had to go and see Tina that night. For Rob it was always about family and protecting Carla and his business."
How does Rob feel after Carla and Peter have got drunk together?
"The last thing Rob wants is them getting closer and Carla starting to realise that Peter was not the killer. It is crucial for him to keep dripping the poison in Carla's ear and get her believing that Peter murdered Tina."
Is Carla Rob's main priority now?
"Carla and Tracy are Rob's priorities. If it ever looked like they were going to take the rap for the murder, he would not have let that happen - he would die for them and confess, but as it is Peter in the frame he has no issue with that."
Is part of Rob glad that Tina is dead, because of what she did to Carla?
"Rob really tries not to think about Tina, as he is just focusing on Peter. He has demons and he is a man on the edge, but he has to keep a cool head. If he started to think about Tina, he would not be able to cope with the guilt."
Is Rob's main aim to run Peter out of Weatherfield or frame him for Tina's murder?
"Rob wants Peter arrested and charged. He knows that Peter is the main suspect and once the police have got their man, the pressure would be off him. He wouldn't really want Peter to disappear as that would not be the end of it."
Why does Rob go to Tina's funeral?
"It is the last thing he wants to do. He had no plans to go at all, but Carla asks him to go with her. He has told Carla that he is there for her, even more so since she lost the baby. It wouldn't look suspicious if he didn't go, as at no point does anyone have any suspicions about him in relation to Tina's murder - but he knows he can't let Carla down."
Why does Rob fight with Peter at the funeral?
"Peter turns up drunk and sits brooding in the church. Carla is really upset and it pushes Rob over the edge. It is weeks of guilt and anger at Peter that all comes to a head. Afterwards Rob and Peter are both taken away by the police."
Does Carla have any suspicions of Rob after that?
"None at all. This is the thing that is making it so easy for Rob to be mouthing off about Peter - it isn't as if anyone has any suspicions about Rob, and he has no motive for attacking Tina that anyone is aware of. Only the viewers know that they had words and that she was threatening to expose him and Tracy."
How does Carla cope with the funeral?
"Carla is in a bad way. At this point she is still a suspect and Rob is determined to be there for her. The last thing he wants is Carla in the frame for the murder he committed."
How have the public reacted to you since Rob was revealed as the killer?
"I have actually been really pleased with the reaction. It is mostly jokey and people saying 'Oi Rob!' or asking if they are safe around me. I just laugh and tell them it's okay as I haven't got my iron bar with me! With this sort of storyline you just have to roll with it and it's great that people are engaging with the story and enjoying it so much."
How do you feel about the story?
"It is a fantastic honour and privilege to be given the responsibility of being at the centre of such a huge storyline. When I was first told about it I was shocked, but then really pleased to be playing a character that will be in the show's history alongside other killers like Richard Hillman and John Stape.
"I'm also blessed with all the actors I get to work with on this show. As well as Ali and Chris who are amazing, I also love working with Kate Ford. Rob and Tracy's relationship has been a huge part of cementing him as a character and getting to know more about him. And now I am working with William Roache and Anne Kirkbride which is just a joy!"
What kind of future is Rob facing?
"Well once you are told that you are going to murder someone in a soap, you know that your time is limited. I do know when I am leaving but there are still so many twists and turns in the storyline that I don't want to reveal that just yet."
Is Rob happy with Tracy?
"Rob and Tracy are a perfect match. He certainly wasn't looking to settle down and he had a few wobbles along the way, but Tracy took him by surprise and the feelings crept up on him. She is like no-one he has met before and he does really want to be with her. She makes him laugh and he totally understands her."
Will they get as far as a wedding?
"A wedding is most certainly on the cards and as Tracy is in charge of it all, I would imagine everything will be beautifully overstated in every way! She wants to show the world that they have made it. For Tracy it is all about people's perception of her and of them as a couple."
.
no your not the only one. He has done a better job changing Tracy than her parents raising her
he has convinced himself that peter is the killer :p

Coronation Street will air these scenes in a few weeks' time.
Coronation Street star Marc Baylis has said that his character Rob Donovan will be left panic stricken when his plan to frame Peter Barlow falls apart next week.
Viewers know that Rob murdered Tina McIntyre earlier in the year, but Peter (Chris Gascoyne) has been arrested for the crime and is currently awaiting his hearing.
Rob is initially relieved when he hears that Peter will be pleading guilty to murder, but after some wise words from both Ken and fellow prisoner Jim, Peter changes his mind.
Baylis said: "It's the worst thing he could possibly hear. He thought everything was going to plan but suddenly that turns full circle and all of the work he's done to get Peter sent down has been undone by Ken. Rob's going to have to start from scratch.
"Everything keeps changing and Rob's all over the place. He doesn't know where he stands or how to react. He's going round in a circle of mental hell."
Speaking about the repercussions for Peter's young son Simon, Baylis added: "He feels guilt yes, absolutely, but then he also uses Simon as a bit of a pawn in the game by coaxing him away to the zoo when he's meant to be visiting his dad.
"Simon's visit would have helped Peter stay strong and helped him to see he had something to fight for, but Rob was determined to take that away from him.
"He does obviously feel guilty and knows that the ramifications for Simon would be devastating, but then Rob also knows he can use Simon to his advantage at this moment in time. It's about Rob needing to stay a free man."
Coronation Street's Marc Baylis thinks his character Rob Donovan could kill again.
The 37-year-old hunk believes his nasty alter-ego is capable of becoming a serial killer after he murdered barmaid Tina McIntyre in cold blood in May after she threatened to expose his scams.
Speaking to Soaplife magazine, he said: "I'd like to think Tina was a one-off through desperate measures. But once you've done something like that, who knows if that switch can flick again? If Rob feels he has no way out, then who knows what he might do?"
Rob has kept his dirty secret underwraps since Tina's death and has let his brother-in-law Peter Barlow (played by Chris Gascoyne) take the blame after he was arrested following the revelation that he cheated on his pregnant wife Carla (Alison King) with the brunette beauty.
However, Peter's father Ken Barlow (Bill Roache) could be the next one to find himself in a grave as Rob starts to worry when he gets the recovering alcoholic a new lawyer and sets up a campaign to free his son.
Marc explained: "Ken intends to pull out all the stops to get Peter released. He's so adamant Peter is innocent, Rob really begins to think he might not get away with killing Tina.
"He starts playing games and puts obstacles in Ken's way. Rob says the new lawyer must be useless if he was free to take on Peter's case."
