it is a shame if alicia leaves while lachlan and his family stays, good character and actress
I can imagine that Lachlan will be the reason for her to leave ... will have given it a go at staying in Emmerdale with the White family in close proximity .. maybe she will go off to Portugal in the end after all ....
Natalie Anderson has opened up about her decision to leave the show, saying she wanted to focus her attention on her family.
The actress, who has played Alicia Metcalfe on the soap for the past five years, announced that she was quitting the show in May.
Now she has spoken about her exit for the first time, telling Hello! magazine that she wants to put her husband James Shepherd and son Freddie first.
She explained: "People say of children that you blink and they're 15 – and suddenly I knew exactly what they mean. Having Freddie really altered my perspective on my career and my approach. Usually I have a million and one things all in place and I know exactly what I'm doing. But I just decided that sometimes you have to let life take its own path.
"I feel that it's time to take my foot off the gas for a while. I believe that what is meant to come my way will – and if it's not for me, then it won't."
She added: "This year with Freddie is important, the year before he goes to school, but that's not to say I might take on something that fits around my family life. It could be a stage show, it could be presenting, it could be drama.
"I'm incredibly lucky in that I have a wonderful family and an incredible husband who have made me feel so secure and so reassured in my decision. I feel excited about the future."
Emmerdale's Alicia Metcalfe will find herself in an awkward situation next week as she wonders what the future holds for her new life in Portugal.
Friday's episode of the show saw Alicia (Natalie Anderson) return to the village to support her husband David following the tragic news that his stepmother Val Pollard had died.
David (Matthew Wolfenden) naturally wants to support his father Eric following his devastating loss, but there was a hint of potential trouble to come when he told his dad that he wouldn't be leaving the village again.
As next week's episodes begin, Eric's grief intensifies as he is totally distraught when he has to identify Val's body.
When Eric's turmoil takes its toll on David, it's Alicia who has to step up to the plate by trying her best to comfort them both.
Amid the grief, Alicia also dreads possible problems ahead as she wonders how and when it will be best to speak to David about returning to Portugal again. Will David still be reluctant to go back?
Meanwhile, there's an equally awkward atmosphere among the Dingle clan next week when Lisa (Jane Cox) finally returns following her time away.
When Lisa arrives back, it's clear that her husband Zak hasn't told her about the big revelation of Ross and Debbie's affair, while she is also under the misguided impression that Cain and his young son Kyle have struck up a permanent bond following recent events. How will she react when she is filled in on everything?
if alicia leaves david now to go back to portugal that is not in her character abandoning like that
to break up her and david either they leave together or alicia should have died
