Why accuse me of an overreaction? I'm just posting how I feel about the writing of Ross and the show. With all due respect you KNOW i defended Michael and Ross when I was able to. This so happened to be when a certain now Exterminated poster was around.
I will defend Ross again when I will be able to HOWEVER right now, I cannot do this! I am a Ross fan which is why I am passionate about the writing of his character and continue to post news articles when and where I can about him and Michael Parr.
As for your response and rationale - I'm sorry but you have to ask yourself WHY have the writers done this. In the space of 10 months I have counted and written Ross act in cowardly manner FOUR times. Why Ross? Why not do it to Cain - why not do it to Pete? They have chosen Ross for a reason. A reason I cannot fathom. As I said before, they are obviously trying to change Ross' character. Not develop. The Ross this year is nothing like last year. Sorry. That's my say on it at the moment.

I agree with you here. What we saw when he first arrived was Part one. A skeleton of body work. That then continued quite fluently into what we saw last year. Where he was quite rightly "Best Bad Boy".
However this year where is the bad boy? What is he doing? Running away, revealing phobias and things that scare him. Once again It's a complete U-turn. Nonsensical writing to what they were aiming for. Sadly, rightly so - no "Best Bad Boy" nomination.

I think alot of people thought that Ross has been ruined as a character by Kate Oates last year so the new producer is probably trying to make him more human again. I have also been a bit shocked and have questioned stuff that has involved Ross recently but I don't think iot will last. I am pretty sure that soon enough we will see Ross at his best again.

We have seen glimpses, Ross preparing to beat Rakesh with a baseball bat, tampering with the minibus and now this dog napping scheme.
SMH with disbelief.
Ross running away from a dog now. Another one to add to the list!
Alright, no doubt even Cain would have been worried however once again as I say quite a lot, the writing and editing for Ross is different to how is "predecessor" is. I don't think we would have seen Cain just run off - he probably would have thrown the dog a bone and end scene. Then Cain would have somehow come back to the village. Why do we need to see the inbetween for Ross?

Emmerdale are insane, Charity and Ross have 100x the amount of chemistry that Cain/Charity have. The scene tonight when Ross admitted that Moses makes him want to be a better person was great, Charity seemed shocked and impressed. They have potential....
I don't think Ross and Charity will get together.
I think they're just throwing this in to add more drama for when Debbie returns which will be soon I believe. I prefer Ross with Debbie tbh.

In regards to Ross, maybe at first but why would he stick with her after Pete and Debbie split up and got divorced?
Whilst Kate Oates was still in charge, the idea was for Ross to develop into a fatherly figure. That was meant to be the character development that I was hoping for. Sadly, when the new producer took over it, all went horribly wrong.
Michael has also explained that they are very passionate people who want what the other person has but what they have in their lives stops them. It's quite a tragic love story really which not a lot of people are understanding. However, I like it. "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" and all that.

Ross and Charity have a lot more chemistry than Charity and Cain and Ross and Debbie.
Maybe they are testing the waters to see how the viewers react to Ross and Charity. There have been snippets and seemed to be building then they broke Cain and Moira up which viewers aren't happy with for Charity to turn her attention to Cain.
I loved how Ross spoke about his son tonight. That is one development I have loved this year.
I actually really like Ross and Charity scenes. They are good together. Cain and Moira will get back together I'm pretty certain
As I mentioned. Michael Parr/Charley Webb have explained R&D have so many similarities (passions, job, personality) and if that was it, they would be perfect for each other. However, they have another side to them which is polar opposite. Ross likes (or liked now) living life to the full and "screw the consequences", whereas Debbie had to live carefully for her children.
It was so obvious that, had Kate Oates stayed in the show and Charley Webb not go on maternity leave, Ross and Debbie would have worked through this and found that lifestyle balance.
Now, I've just typed this up. Maybe this was the end story for Kate. Maybe when she found out that Charley was going on maternity leave - she might have just thought she might as well leave. Unless Iain is thinking on the same lines as Kate. Maybe he is, maybe that's the reason Michael Parr isn't utilised as much this year. It could be Kate told him she knew Ross was getting heavily commented on featuring on a lot of storylines.

Thats not chemistry its the direction the writer wanted them to go in, they weren't exciting. Debbie always looked bored and miserable and Ross wasn't much better. If he wanted her that much, he would be out there now chasing her not making passes at her mum (and then look gutted when she chooses someone else). I know you will disagree but they almost used to bore me to tears, no spark their.

There is a lot more to chemistry than making goo-goo eyes and saying "i love you" with a bit of hand holding. Whenever I read a certain fandom thread on another board, it's all I ever hear about and i just smh.
Quickly defined chemistry relationship: "In the context of relationships, chemistry is a simple "emotion" that two people get when they share a special connection. It is not necessarily sexual. It is the impulse making one think "I need to see this [other] person again" - that feeling of "we click"."
This is what I'm saying. They have the same passions. The same interests. They would be perfect for each other if that was "the end". This is a soap however, so Kate obviously thought, liets make it difficult for these two to get together and throw obstacles in their way. Every relationship in the world has them. The problem is as I say, this is a soap that churns hundreds of episodes a year, so they have to magnify to the extreme. Debbie and Ross will get there! It takes time and patience.
