noah's line of keeping in it the family as his brother and sister getting married, funny
This episode was very effective at ramping up the tension and efficiently getting us through some moustache twirling. The interactions between Belle and Lachlan were brilliant because you could see that Belle was losing the person she loved and Lachlan was desperately clawing at what he had left. In a way you could view all the murders as sacrifices, gifts given to the gods - the audience - in exchange for the loving family and girlfriend he always wanted. But now he is in a situation where these people who he came to know and love sit opposite him at the table with Robert, a man who he has hated since they first met. You can complain about the pacing, or the obvious lies all day - one thing you can't deny is that this is the culmination of Lachlan's entire character, this is earned.
It's very fitting having an injured Sam lying in the centre of the room throughout these scenes. Lachlan's sadistic streak has consistently involved people who are vulnerable or unaware; Leyla(unconscious), Lawrence(asleep on the sofa) and Gerry(pinned to the ground) were all bodies that couldn't fight back. Sam as the centrepiece to the room is an artefact to Lachlan's cruelty.
Moving away from the central story, it's nice actually seeing the co-dependence between Joe and Graham. Their relationship was implied far more than shown; before now they didn't seem to actually need each other.
I feel a show/reality disconnect with Matty. At the end of the day, he is biologically female and not equipped to go up against a biological male. If Matty wants to be a likeable, honest character, he has to accept this.
I must say, I'm really enjoying the one long day storytelling. It really helps build the tension and keep things interesting and dynamic. The only problem I have is that the Emmerdale Timescale is completely screwed up right now - an entire week is missing from Emmerdale continuity but they'll still have Christmas at the same time as always. Do weekends even exist in Emmerdale.

Oh and gun control is very slack there, how many times has Zks gun been used in a stick up or a shooting yet he still has it.
