Coronation Street is set to provide a sad update for Steve McDonald about estranged wife Tracy's return.
Tracy departed the cobbles earlier this year to go and live in Spain with her lover Tommy Orpington, after conducting an affair with the former footballer behind Steve's back.
In new scenes set to air next week, Steve is pressured by Tim to have a night out to mark his 50th birthday.
However, when Sally shows Tim an invitation to the unveiling of Tommy's bronze bust at the Weatherfield County ground, he realises it clashes with Steve's celebrations.
Tim comes clean that he is no longer free for his 50th, though Steve takes this to mean that a surprise party is being planned.
He's further convinced when he overhears Sally telling Tim at the cab office that she's heading into town to buy an outfit for an event the following day.
Amy later tells Steve that Tracy has cancelled her visit from Spain, leaving him quietly gutted as his plans to try and reconcile with her are now dead.
Steve asks Cassie, Kevin and Tyrone in the Rovers about the surprise party, though their denials leave him more convinced that they're bluffing and something is in the works.
Will Steve believe the truth before it's too late?
In other Coronation Street news, it has been confirmed that Abi Webster will be taking a break from Weatherfield next week amid her deepfake video storyline.
I have not missed her, she can stay away for good as far as I am concerned..
surely she'd return to see ken after his fall
While Tracy is only making a brief return over the summer, sources previously confirmed to Metro.co.uk earlier this year that Kate?s exit was only temporary, with the character of Tracy always tipped to return eventually.
?Tracy?s a Corrie institution all on her own ? she will never be far from the cobbles even when she lives halfway across the world. She makes a brief trip back for a week later this summer to visit her family and deal with some Barlow family drama?, a source explained to The Sun.

Coronation Street's Tracy McDonald will once again leave the cobbled streets of Weatherfield, but not before she has offered some parting advice to Steve.
Tracy returned to her home last month after some time in Spain with her boyfriend Tommy Orpington, though not all has been well as she harboured some doubts about the situation.
She eventually decided to give Tommy another chance, with Monday?s (September 16) scenes seeing Amy, Ken and Cassie say their goodbyes before she heads to the airport.
She has a word with her estranged husband Steve before she heads off, however, telling him that he should pursue a relationship with Cassie given their obvious feelings for each other. Will Steve heed her advice?
It won?t be the last time we see Tracy on Corrie, however, with actor Kate Ford confirming that the latest exit is merely a temporary one before a lengthier comeback later in the year.
Though Tracy?s absence will not be permanent, Weatherfield recently lost an important resident as Paul Foreman sadly passed away following a year-long battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
The character?s death brought an end to Peter Ash?s six-year stint in the role, with the actor sharing a heartfelt farewell message to fans of the soap following the character?s death.
?So, my time on Corrie has come to an end," he began in the video. "I just want to say ? thank you to everyone for the support you?ve given me over the years and with the storylines I?ve done. I really appreciate it. We?d be nothing without our fans, so thank you very much. I?ve had the time of my life filming Corrie. I?m going to miss everybody, but I?m excited to see what?s next [for me]. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everybody for watching.?
Sounds permanent or at least long term to me....

Coronation Street will air another return for Tracy McDonald next week, as she joins forces with her family to help Ken Barlow through a health scare.
Tracy has spent much of this year living in Spain with her new boyfriend, former Weatherfield County star footballer Tommy Orpington. However, when she returned to the cobbles over the summer to visit daughter Amy Barlow, it became clear that she was feeling neglected due to Tommy?s busy new coaching job.
After hearing a message from Tommy in which he pleaded for her to come back, Tracy agreed to give Tommy another chance and returned to Spain.
In episodes that will air next week, the scene is set for Tracy's return when Ken comes back from his holiday in Porto with his carer, Cassie Plummer.
After he gets home, Ken admits to his family that he's looked over his finances and he can't afford to keep employing Cassie, leaving the family relieved. Ken later thanks Cassie for her services but tells her that he won't need her to act as his carer anymore.
However, Ken later begins to feel unwell and he gets back in contact with Cassie, saying that he's willing to pay her an extra pound an hour if she'll come back to work.
But the rest of the family decide they're not having any of it. Tracy soon shows up in Weatherfield and, flanked by Adam Barlow and Steve McDonald, she tells Cassie to get out and stop taking advantage of Ken.
Tracy decides that she'll take care of Ken from now on. But Ken soon experiences a nosebleed and tells his family that he's feeling terrible, leading them to rush Ken to hospital.
When Steve later sees Cassie again, he makes it clear that she's sacked once and for all.
But is this really the end of Cassie's job, and where does it leave her and Steve after their recent passionate encounter?
Tracy's latest return is expected to be a lengthier one than her previous brief stint over the summer.
