Last night a senior insider scoffed at reports Simon Cowell was in advanced talks with Victoria Beckham to become a new judge.
They said: “That is utter rubbish. Simon has not spoken to Victoria at all.”
Another source said: “Nothing is being decided or officially discussed until next week.”
Last year, Sharon Osbourne held out on signing her contract — then quit in a row over cash days before she was expected on set.
She was replaced by Girls Aloud’s Cheryl Cole, who proved to be a hit — and produced the show winner Alexandra Burke.
Cheryl will definitely return and Louis Walsh is sure to reappear.

Eoghan Quigg is to release his debut album in March, it has been revealed.
The 16-year-old singer, who recently signed to record label RCA alongside Diana Vickers, will become the first contestant from last year's X Factor to put out a record.
His album, whose title has yet to be confirmed, is currently listed by RCA for release on March 16 - the Monday before Mothers' Day.
Meanwhile, X Factor champion Alexandra Burke is expected to release her debut album in November.

Reports that Dannii Minogue may be replaced on the reality show have not been confirmed. However, rumours that Victoria Beckham may take over from the Australian have been denied.
