Not necessarily, you can donate part of your liver as the liver re-generates itself unless it has reached the point of cirrhosis, so if Phil´s liver is not totally damaged to that point, Jay would be able to help

yes but it is very high risk for the donor, Phil would have to be really in need? The detah rate for donors is 1 in 300?

and Jay and Phil would need to be the same blood group - it would be a big stretch of the imagination

Yes, unrelated people donate organs to each other all the time in soaps.

Plus you can bet the Mitchells would emotionally blackmail Jay to do it if he was a match.

your liver has three lobes, and you can cut one lobe away and the ;liver happily carries on - so can remove a lobe that is diseased, or a healthy one to give to someone for transplant

but it is risky in both cases

thanks v much for info re liver lobes!
At least it means poor Jay has some
chance of survival - if thats the storyline

Alternatively, Jay's storyline could be getting involved with Gavin (when he returns to the square).
