I have to wait till I get home which will be a saturday and I have to wait till tuesday (cos of the bank holiday) to go get them from college! Or if they have been posted out its the same, wait till tuesday cos my mum stopped the post while we were away :(Quote:

Just a warning, the marks on the results paper will be in UMS. Your actual marks that you got in the exam are converted into UMS (don't know how) so they won't reflect how many marks you gained.
I'll have a look at one of my results sheets tomorrow. I might scan it in if it doesn't have too much personal info on.
All my results sheets have been the same from science modular exams in yr 10 right through to AS. The only time that I got results printed on exam board paper was when I did my AS.
for AS, you just get a sheet with the marks you got for each module i think, a bit like what you get for the january exams. unless its changed, i dont think you get an actual overall grade (although you can obviously work it out yourself). if you decide to not continue with your AS subject then you get sent a grade but otherwise it just carries on til alevel
Ugh. I had a few of the girls over to stay last night and this was like.. the highlight of the night seriously!
I'm obviously nervous for my results and I know I've not done well, even though I did do my best, but at least I will have my mind at rest for what I need to resit and I'm sure I'll be gutted for a bit but at the end of the day, I did my best it was all I could do and it's not the end of the world I'll jsut resit and make sure I do even better... there's alot more worse things that go on in this world. Life goes on after exams.
I suppose I'm pretty lucky I'm not pushed. I'm the first in my family to actually do A Levels so I see that as an achievement in itself, but my family just tell em to do my best and whatever the grades.. so be it. As long as I knwo I tried my very best then they're proud of me no matter what, and I suppose that's what keeps me going!
One or 2 of my friends are in really bad states over results tomorrow though, because their parents expect them to get the best grades and work them and work them until they're physically worn out. I don't believe that's the way to be and jsut do exams for yourself. For what you want to achieve. In the long run if you did bad but you know you did your upmost best then good on you! Carry on doing what you're doing because you can only do so much!.. Take resits, it's not the end. You'll all do fab anyways I'm sure :D

I pushed myself as far as I could for most of my subjects; couple of them I hated though. Coursework's at A* for them though so hopefully that'll push them up a bit. Only one I think is terrible is Additional Science; my friend's gutted because she spent ages revising for it and still struggled so I'm glad I didn't lose motivation further by doing as much as she did and then struggling with it. By the end of exams I really couldn't bring myself to revise any more.
UMS is Uniform Mark Scale, Spicy. For GCSE I think it's up to the exam board how they scale them, but I'm sure in an A Level guide we were given at options evening there was a common conversion or something. My friend really wanted to know how our Core Science was converted to UMS last year and worked it out with a calculator. I think she said they multiplied the raw mark by 1.3 something in that. The greater the difference between the number raw marks and the total UMS marks for that paper, the more it will be multiplied by.
I know what you mean, Kirsty. I'll be the first on my Dad's side to actually have any GCSE's but they're expecting more than Mum's side. I think one Aunt from Mum's side expects me to beat my cousins, but Dad kept going on about A*'s and then saying he didn't care if I failed everything. Basically when he wanted me to do an invoice out for him he didn't care if I failed, lol! I'd be very disappointed in myself if I didn't beat my cousin's grades, so it's not really pressure from my Aunt.
As for the money for grades thing, I didn't want to arrange anything before exams as that would have meant more pressure than I was already putting on myself. I've been trying to since they finished though, as there's nothing I could have done to get any more money for them. My dad's yet to agree though. I don't think he even really looked at my predicted grades, so it'd a bit of a stab in the dark for him if he did offer money for grades. It'd be nice if he gave me some money but then again I'd have done my best for myself anyway as everyone's seen from how much I've been thinking about silly little mistakes.
Was just talking about telling results and stuff and mum said she would agree to fake my results if I am not happy with them :) Now I sort of am looking forward to getting them. Obviously I am not going to say all A's but if I got a C or something I might say B..
I am just going to say that to my family (apart from mum and dad).. Not going to make this a habit lol.. I will tell you guys what I get though :)

Dave, take a calculator with you tomorrow!! When i got my AS last year, they didn't add them up, or give us an overall grade, they just gave you the UMS mark for each module. They said it was because AS isn't a "qualification", its half of AS, so its the modules that matter, not the overall grade. Which is true. So they gave us an extra sheet to tell us how to work out the grades for AS, but then told us not to worry about what it is, lol!! So yeah, calculators are your friend!
At GCSE, its just the subject and the grade in most subjects. Some will give you the total UMS as well, but most will just be the grade. Its dead easy to understand. And if you are in the top 5 in the country on AQA, they will give you an extra letter as well to congratulate you, lmao. My friend was 5th in the country in GCSE History, and had this well funny letter with hers. I don't think the other exam boards do it though.

I am quite pleased with my results, though I was shocked by some of my results...some bits of my course I did well in, but I did a bit badly in other aspects so it brought my grade down
I got:
Media: B (AB in my exams - two marks off an A for my second exam!.. and a C in my coursework)
English: B (AAC in my exams) completely shell shocked! Thought I did alright, but not that well!
ICT: D (DE in my exams and C for coursework)..bit gutted about this result, but I will drop it I think.
Drama: C (A in my performance but CD in my theory exams..I thought I did better in my theory exams but ahh well)..
So the plan is.. I am going to drop ICT probably and resit the C I got in English to try and boost it to an A. :)

I was expecting to ail them all... so I'm pleased with my grades. I would have liked to carry on with Biology but I did badly in all 3 modules and I don't want to be resitting a whole subject when I can boost my marks by resitting 1 or 2 modules of the englsih subjects. I'm happy with RE so I think I will leave it as it is because even though I want to do well in my AS I can't forget that next year is A Levels so I don't want to forget about them and focus all my work on AS if you get what I mean? Haha. Oh well I'm pleased :D

Spicy, it depends on your college, but most only let you resit maths and english, and if you don't get more than a B in other sujects you can't take it further. You wouldn't need to, providing you have at least 5A*-Cs.
2) They might not let you take maths AS if it wasn't B grade, at mine you'd resit one year, take the AS the next.

So, mine. Well I got into my firm, BBB. Good yes, but french could have beena hell of a lot better, I just scraped C's (one mark off a D in all my modules from this year) so it's last year's that got me a B, which is good. But, I think considering what's happened in the last year, just still actually being alive is good enough!
In my school you can only resit Maths and English GCSE, and you have to take one less AS subject to resit. The only other way they do resits is for those who haven't got 5A*'s to C's, and then they're forced to do Maths & English Language resit with some Business course that's equivalent to 4 GCSE's.
