Thanks :) I'm going to Berlin, visiting museums and stuff like that :)
A question - I started as normal, then took the pill (I've taken 2 now so far)...and..it's disappeared :p Is this what I'm meant to expect? The doctor said it would be lighter but...is it going to start up again for this month? Thanks in advance :)
You might find your period slightly erratic to be honest if its your first time at taking the pill. Hopefully it will all be ok for your Germany trip though.
The best thing i've found to use is Co-codamol. I have the WORST period pains...I started when I was 11, i'm 15 now and i'm thinking of going on the pill to help it. I sometimes have to have an odd day off school because the pain is soooo bad...I can barely stand up at times!
Damp heat is very good, so wrap a damp teatowel round a hotwater bottle, lie on you back, put your feet against a wall, armrest etc., your legs should be at a 45 deg angle (i.e. knees pointing to the ceiling and soles of feet against wall, armrest etc. - does this make sense?) The pill helped reduce my pain a lot as well though.
I hope so! I think i'm gonna see how I go next month and then go to the doctor. Although she really is a waste of time so may consider going to a new one.
My friend was saying that she went to the doctor for the pill to help calm her period pains but they wouldn't give it to her, but they did prescribe her with something to help calm them down so if you aren't able to get the pill I'm sure they'd give you something else :)
They should do. As long as the doctor is sure that you understand what you're asking for and what the tablet does then you should be ok.
Some doctors may be reluctant to prescribe it because the age of consent is 16 in England and they don't condone underage sex. I'm not saying that you are but some doctors may see it that way.
If you take your mum with you you stand a better chance of getting it. If you don't want your parents to know then the doctor can't tell them as long as s/he is sure that you understand what s/he is saying.
Seeing as we were talking about it in this thread a while back I thought I'd tell you all about my mooncup.
I got it this morning from ebay. I was quite worried at the size of the top of the cup, it looked huge. I managed to get it in first time but getting it out was a nightmare. I pulled it down and broke the seal but it just wouldn't come out. It hurt like hell and I was getting more worried so I tensed up and made it worse :rotfl: I got it out after about five minutes of panicking.
The instructions say to try it on the last two days of your period. Mine finished about four days ago so maybe thats why I had trouble getting it out. I'm going to wait until my next period to try it again, don't want to go through all that pain again for nothing :rotfl:
I got a size B cup which is for women under 30 who haven't had any children or had a c-section.
What are mooncups?
Like... what do you actually do?
And are they any good?
:) Thanks
The Mooncup is a reusable menstrual cup around two inches long and made from soft silicone rubber. It is worn internally like a tampon but collects menstrual fluid rather than absorbing. Unlike tampons the Mooncup is not a disposable product, so you only need to buy one.

I got mine from ebay. You can get them from Boots as well.
TMI ALERT!!!!!
Rather than pulling it down, I've found a far better way of releasing the suction, Abigail. It won't hurt, causes no pain and is a lot easier and can also be practiced when you are not on your period.
PM me and I'll explain, but probably best not to post here how, as its definitely slightly TMI for an open forum.

Oh dear bloody periods...hate the things! I was physically sick once because of the pain...you guys don't know what it's like! :p but usually pop a few pills in me and I'm reet.
Do you think back pain could be related to period pains
im really suffering today - ruddy that time of the month
So am I :( I cant get comfortable, at least it didnt bother me in my exams, but seriously, I had a really nice long bath but now I just feel horrible
Thanks, I gte it all the time but never know why and the it occured to me today!
Hot water bottles do not work for me!! I'm seriously running out of things here.
Tried hot water bottle.. painkillers don't seem to do it for me anymore..I tried the putting your feet on the wall.. tried running up and down the stairs.. I have tried most things on here.. something I haven't tried is the wheat bag.. that's next on my list. If that don't work I'll cry :crying:. I had it soooo bad one night in bed with my last period. I was awake for 3 flaming hours with it! think I eventually just fell asleep. But it was doing my head in, it was SOOOO painful. :(
Have you been yo your doctor about it?
No not yet. Do you reckon I should?? They won't check other things will they? I'm really scared of doctors lol.. and what they might find :p. Don't ask..
lol, well maybe you should, I mean if they are really bad and causing you a lot of discomfort and you have tried something, you never know, they could help
Hmm I'll think about it.. see how bad it is next time.
I'll have a look around and let ya know. Thanks hun :).
yeh the wheat bags are really good, although i find i have to keep reheating it, but still its worth it to take the pain away
i went to docs when mine became unbearable years ago, but also wanted contraception so it was ideal for me to go on pill. my periods became a lot lighter and although not pain free nothing like i was! id spend 2 days in bed, not eat feel sick and just cry as nothing would help me! the pill deffo helped
they did no horrid examinations, ( one thing i was worried about) just asked me questions about my medical and family ( musm grandmas etc) medical history.
might be worth a shot if you are that bad
Have you tried Feminax?
I've not used it but it's supposed to be really good. It's not too expensive either.
If that doesn't work or a wheat bag then you should go see your GP or nurse practitioner. Oral contraceptives usually make them lighter and less painful.
I saw your advice on Feminax so I got my Nan to get me some... they are a Godsend! Much better than normal paracetamol!!
Feminax is like, I don't know, It's just fantastic! :D
I get reeeeaaaaaaaalllllyyy bad pains and my Mum got me some of these and the difference it quite unbelievable!
dare i say that feminax is just co codamol with a brand name! it would be a lot cheaper to get a shops own brand co codamol, they are exactly the same!
True. A friend of mine gets co codamol from the doctors, she suffers even more than I do +& so wouldn't like to imagine how much pain she's in. She left some at my house the last time she slept over and I used them (after checking what they were +& stuff.) with her say so, and they worked just as well.
Are they really!?
I never knew that!
I'll be on the look out now then for own brand co codamol!
Thanks :D
Same, I didn't really think about it before, but I'm on now and have run out of feminax! :(
Shall be down Asda on Tuesday when me's got a day off school :D
