The Saturdays star Frankie Sandford has reportedly held talks with X Factor bosses about joining the show.
According to The Sun, producers are said to have been impressed by the singer's looks and her willingness to give opinions and believe that she could be the right choice to replace Cheryl Cole - whose future on the show remains unconfirmed.
Cole is still waiting to find out if Simon Cowell has convinced Fox network executives if she is the right person to judge the upcoming US version of the show.
"Frankie has all the right ingredients for an X Factor judge," a source told the paper. "She looks great, she can hold her own and she's been there. The Saturdays have had to work hard so she knows what the wannabes are going through."
The insider added: "Just like Cheryl, she is young and glamorous and someone the contestants can relate to."
The 22-year-old - who previously went out with McFly star Dougie Poynter - is currently dating footballer Wayne Bridge.
Former Spice Girl Mel B recently appeared to let slip that she was in the running to land a role on the ITV1 show. However, the paper claims that although bosses are "very interested", Mel B was initially being considered for the Australian version's judging panel.
"She is certainly gobby which is what Simon Cowell loves," the source added.
Sandford recently hit back at claims that is trying to become the 'next' Cole and told fans that she is "more than happy" being herself.
OZZY Osbourne is set to replace Cheryl Cole as a judge on The X Factor, The Sun can reveal. :cartman:
Producers are in serious talks to get the 62-year-old rock wildman on the panel - as it emerged that Cheryl is almost certain to get the judging job on the US version.
Ozzy's wife Sharon, 58, starred as a panellist for four series. A set source said: "Ozzy would be a controversial choice but he can really bring something different to the show. Sharon was a big hit and we think Ozzy can do well too." It would be a bold move for producers, as the former Black Sabbath star has previously criticised the show.
He said: "It's about killing music to make light entertainment. It should be about music and talent but it's not."
Sharon left in 2007 after four series and a string of rows with fellow judge Dannii Minogue.
Meanwhile Cheryl, 27, has been told by Fox TV executives preparing to launch X Factor in the States that they ARE prepared to take a chance with an unknown.
It comes after huge pressure from show guru Simon Cowell, who insisted the Girls Aloud singer be given a lead role. Bosses are set to give her a trial run and will monitor public reaction to the Geordie.
The source added: "Producers this side of the pond aren't happy she has gone but this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Bosses in the US are nervous but it looks as though Simon has twisted their arms."
An X Factor spokesman declined to comment.

Simon Cowell will not appear on a weekly basis on The X Factor, ITV chief Peter Fincham has confirmed.
Following a string of tabloid reports claiming that Cowell was quitting the UK show, Fincham - ITV's director of television - said that the media mogul's role "will not be as great as previous years".
"We have been in constant negotiations with Simon about ways in which we can move things forward and help The X Factor evolve," Fincham said in a statement.
"We have been aware that his on-screen *involvement in this series will not be as great as *previous years for months now. It is something that we are *completely *comfortable with.
"We are talking to him about ways he can have an on-screen presence later in the show. He will not be a weekly judge, but he will be an enormous presence backstage as always."
However, Fincham insisted: "Some of the speculation about us pleading with Simon to be a judge makes me smile. I constantly hear we are in crisis but in reality we have an amazingly *constructive relationship with Simon and are very much reading from the same page."
Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh is reportedly close to signing a deal to host 'The Xtra Factor'.
According to the Sunday Mirror, the 29-year-old singer is currently in negotiations after being recommended by Cheryl Cole.
A source said: "Kimberley is the girl 'X Factor' bosses want for the job."
"She has all the right ingredients - she looks great, she's feisty, can hold her own and, most importantly, has been a success in the music industry."
"Cheryl gave producers a glowing reference telling them she would be brilliant for the show."
"Kimberley is the frontrunner and is in final talks. It is virtually a done-deal."
It was recently announced that former presenter Konnie Huq would not be returning to 'The Xtra Factor' this year.
Gary Barlow has reportedly entered "advanced talks" to replace Simon Cowell on The X Factor.
It was confirmed last week that the music mogul will not appear as a weekly judge on the next UK series of the show. Cowell will continue to play a role on the programme, but will focus on the judging panel for the US version.
Barlow was previously linked to the show, with reports at the time claiming that he was just "days away" from signing up.
According to the Daily Mail, a show insider has now confirmed that the Take That star is "our favourite for the job".
"We are in discussions and we should have something to announce in the next couple of weeks," the insider told the paper. "What Gary and Simon both have is an innate understanding of the music industry and what you need to succeed - that determination. Gary would be a great judge."
It is claimed that ITV bosses are now rescheduling auditions for May, to work alongside Take That's upcoming 'Progress Live' tour.
Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh are both expected to sign new contracts for the show, while reports say that Cheryl Cole will officially quit if she is confirmed for the US judging panel.
An X Factor spokesperson said: "We will announce the new X Factor judges in due course and everything is speculation at this stage."
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Barlow told Digital Spy that the latest claims are nothing more than "more speculative stories".
