I agree, neither of them would be any good at it. Alya has no experience and Carla has made a mess of it over the years. They need someone with proper training, surely? I know Alya studied design but no-one in charge ever seems to have training in accountancy, marketing or all the practical aspects of running a large business.
Part of the reason Carla made a hash of it was a combination of some bad luck which could happen to anyone and her love of the drink. I think she's laying off the latter somewhat now. However, ANYONE but Alya. Oh, and will Sally still be Executive Clipboard Carrier?

Generally speaking being a mayor is not a full time job. Duties do not usually entail any important administrative duties. Being a Mayor is often a reward for long or past distinctive service, duties are usually to represent the Council at ceromonial, civic or public functions. In the real world it is unlikely Sally would have become a Mayor, the fact that there was an election would probably never have happened in a local council like Weatherfield. I know Johnny is grieving, but his morals have been forgotten. Both he and Kate preached to Aidan after his affair yet both have been conducting illicit relationships.
I'm really not enjoying this plot development with Liz and Johnny, after the emotional impact of Aidan's suicide. He's behaving completely differently with Liz than with his own wife - what if Liz had spilled coffee on Aidan's suit for example? Would he have reacted the same way?
I thought Roy and a few other characters might have supported the Connors, either before or after the funeral.
johnny is being a huge a==hole, his wife killed herself over his affair with carla's mother, his son killed himself and jenny tried to kill herself over her son dying and taking jack and now he is cheats on jenny with liz who was cheated on by tony with tracy, no morals :angry:
He is being nasty and grief is not an excuse all the time as he is nice to everyone else
If Jim MacDonald returns from the "Big House", he'll give Johnny what for, if he starts messing his Elizabeth about. Won't be long before Michelle sticks her neb in.

If the Connors make a fuss, its more likely social services will foster the kid out to a stable family. Both Toyah and Eva are showing signs of mental instability or maybe Mummy might come back and take over.

I did feel that Leanne was being rather nasty. Also, Liz doesn't seem to like being told to actually work at the bar. She's been on for a while about more or less trying to act like the landlady again, but I notice she keeps making faces when asked to do something.
Carla I feel was a bit more sympathetic to Eva, especially saying she believed Eva's story, though Eva herself could have maybe been a bit more forthcoming with details.
Johnny is just being vile at the moment. He's threatened to disown Carla, implied the same to Katy if they contest the factory thing, been a pig to Jenny as well.

Michelle, infact all of the Connors apart from Jenny are vile, vile, vile!
I don't think any of the Connors should get Susie. Johnny and Jenny have enough problems (and all the work involved with a baby and the sleepless nights will not help) and Carla has neither maternal instincts, a proper job or her own home. Kate might be able to look after her, with help from Rana, but let's face it, their relationship is kind of delicate too. The whole thing is messed up, but the best option might be for the baby to stay with Eva so that Toyah and Peter can at least help out.
Eva should keep her as she is her mother .. hopefully she takes Susie with her when she leaves!

Hope Jenny quickly realises she's being used and gives him a full poke in the eye. As for Peter and that obnoxious thug Simon go and have a good sulk with misery Ken. Personally, Leanne wouldn't be far behind 'em. Rant over! :)
