I can't remember how Geoff obtained Power of Attorney, but it seems highly unlikely to me that he would ever have been granted it in the first place. These are the five principles that have to be applied before one is granted:

A person must be assumed to have capacity unless it is established that he lacks capacity.
A person is not to be treated as unable to make a decision unless all practicable steps to help him to do so have been taken without success.
A person is not to be treated as unable to make a decision merely because he makes an unwise decision.
An act done, or decision made, under this Act for or on behalf of a person who lacks capacity must be done, or made, in his best interests.
Before the act is done, or the decision is made, regard must be had to whether the purpose for which it is needed can be as effectively achieved in a way that is less restrictive of the person?s rights and freedom of action.

I think a prime example of the application of power of attorney is when someone is suffering from severe dementia for example.

Absolutely. I had to apply for one for my mother who was incapable of looking after herself or her affairs or make any decision . You can?t just apply for one if a person can do all those things and there are all sorts of tests to establish incapacity.

So suddenly Alya is all alone in a busy restaurant and loses it?? Come on, there have always been many extras in the background before and would a manager not phone an agency for a replacement chef???

How can Geoff afford to buy out Alya, is the joint account with Yasmeen still open to him, he did steal from the business

Geoff can't possibly have got the liquor licence yet. I am wondering if, in fact, he ever really applied for it all or whether he has just told Alya he had to wind her up.

So what?s all the booze he had delivered. He is breaking the law.
