Top of Debbie’s festive list is to spend Christmas with the man she loves, but Ross wrecks her dream when he indulges in a spot of theft. To get his hands on some cash to buy some gifts, he robs a warehouse and drags Aaron along as his lookout.
Unfortunately, a warehouse worker clocks a shifty Aaron, and soon the police roar into the village looking for a man matching his description.
“Ross thinks he’s doing the right thing for Debbie,” explain’s Charley Webb, who plays his stressed girlfriend, “He’s trying to be a night in shining armour, but she’s like ‘my god, no’ “
After DS Hart interrupts the village nativity to question Aaron, Ross is next on her list. He denies everything as they talk, she makes an observation that places Ross at the scene of Robert Sugden’s attempted murder.
Later, a frightened Ross, promises Debbie he had nothing to do with shooting of Robert, but she’s far from convinced.
“She does give him a alibi for the shooting, “ reveals Charley, “She thinks :’He swore to me’ But ultimately, she knows he could of done it.”
After visiting Charity in prison, Debbie makes a decision. When her mum compares Debbie’s relationship to the one she shared with Cain, she decides to take the kids and leave the village before Ross can stop her. “Debbie’s heartbroken,” admits Charley, “Ross lied to her, and he shot someone! He is not the right role model for her kids.”
As Debbie bids goodbye to Moria and the Dingles, Charley is looking forward to taking a break from the soap. The actress is expecting her second child with her co-star Matthew Wolfenden, who plays David Metcalfe, with whom he already has a five year old son, Buster.
“I’m a real homebird, so I’m looking forward to just being mum,“ say’s Charley, “Buster has always wanted a new brother or sister so he’s really excited,
“He can’t wait for Christmas too, We’ve been writing his letter to Santa. He want’s Scalextric and lego. I’ll make sure things are as normal as possible, as he is only young, and these years are so important.”
And when when she wakes up on the big day, Charley knows exactly what her own festive wish will be, “All I’d like for Christmas, she smiles, “Is a healhy baby & a happy five year old”.
