Neighbours reveals Takaya Honda's emotional on-set farewell after David's exit
"Time flies when you're having fun."
https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/nei...onal-farewell/
Major Neighbours spoilers follow from Thursday's episode (February 1), which is streaming now on Amazon Freevee.
Neighbours has revealed Takaya Honda's emotional exit from the soap after his character's shock death.
Honda has appeared as David Tanaka on the Australian soap opera for years, even from before its brief cancellation; but he made his final appearance in Thursday's episode (February 1) as he died following injuries from his cliff fall with Eden Shaw.
The horrific episode saw both David and Eden fall from the side of an embankment after Eden sparked a fight. After both men were seriously injured, David insisted on Eden being taken to hospital first.
In a video, which was posted to the official Neighbours X (formerly Twitter) account, Honda can be seen giving a speech to some assembled cast and crew including Tim Kano (Leo), Matt Wilson (Aaron), Stefan Dennis (Paul) and producer Jason Herbison.

"I can't thank everyone here enough, for everything that they've done for me over the years or even in the last couple of months," he said, before addressing Kano.
"Tim, we started together, we've been on the ride together, which was such a nice thing to do."
Honda then addressed Wilson, who plays David's on screen husband, Aaron.
"Matty ? the relationship with David and Aaron, working hard from the start to develop what it's become, the relationship that the audience sees it as, and will hopefully create the devastation for what's to come."
Dennis then took to the floor, saying: "It's obviously been an absolute thrill ride with you, because as they say: 'Time flies when you're having fun.' You've been wonderful."
He also reminded Honda and Wilson that they made Australian history, as the first legal gay marriage in the country's television history.
Wilson told Tanaka: "I couldn't have had a better husband. I've actually been with my husband longer than I've been with my real wife. So this is hard. And all of these tears shed on screen, they've been for you as well, mate."

12 huge Neighbours spoilers for David Tanaka's death aftermath
What's next on Ramsay Street?
https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/nei...ath-aftermath/
Neighbours spoilers follow.
Coming up on Neighbours this week, there's a tough time for everyone on Ramsay Street as David Tanaka's friends and family grieve for him.
Elsewhere, Eden Shaw ends up on the loose again and he targets the Kennedy house, while Terese Willis starts to lose patience over Toadie Rebecchi's obsession with his ex-wife Melanie.
Here's a full collection of 12 big moments coming up.
1. Aaron becomes resentful
The residents of Ramsay Street rally round David's loved ones following his tragic death, but Aaron's mood changes from mournful to angry. Wendy comments that David died a hero by saving Eden's life, but Aaron replies that there was nothing heroic about his decision to leave their family.
Aaron confides in Mackenzie about how he can't help feeling angry with David over his tragic choice. Mackenzie responds by sharing her own experiences with her grief for Hendrix.
2. Terese and Toadie support their exes
Terese tries her best to take care of Paul following the loss of David, but his stubborn silence worries her. Toadie can't help feeling unsettled when Terese confirms her plans to stay with Paul for longer.
Toadie decides to turn his own attentions towards comforting Melanie, aware that she's experiencing some complicated feelings over Eden's involvement in David's death.
3. Eden lies about his baby discovery
Krista visits Eden and breaks the news of David's death. She vows that he'll never get to be part of their baby's life as he'll be rotting in jail for his crimes.
While being interviewed by Andrew, deceptive Eden claims that he only discovered Krista's pregnancy when he heard her discussing it with Leo on their bush walk. Krista and Leo point out this is an obvious lie, as they only spoke about the baby at the holiday house.
Later, Paul visits Eden and threatens him ? warning that he'll never be safe again whether he's in jail or out.
4. Eden holds Melanie hostage
Eden makes a shock appearance at the Kennedy house and tries to ransack the place for money. Melanie is the only person home and she's terrified as Eden threatens her with a scalpel.
An oblivious Holly arrives home, but Melanie manages to shout out a warning. Holly gets away and alerts Andrew to the troubling situation.
Eden is livid and swipes at Melanie's arm with the scalpel, but when his own pain levels start to worry him, Melanie takes pity and offers him her pain medication. Eden refuses the pills and makes Melanie's ordeal much worse by tying her to a chair.
5. The residents plan to take down Eden
The hostage situation sparks a police presence on Ramsay Street, but Andrew is instructed to stand back until the police's critical response team arrives. When Karl points out that there's an unlocked window in the spare bedroom, Toadie and Aaron come up with a dangerous plan to take matters into their own hands.
Terese discovers the pair's intentions and urges Leo to intervene. Leo obliges and reminds Aaron that his daughter has already lost one dad, so he needs to avoid such a foolish risk. Toadie stands firm over the plan, offering to go in alone.
6. Krista is blamed by Paul
Paul looks for someone to blame for David's death and tells Krista that his son would still be alive if she hadn't dragged Eden into their orbit. Krista is in a low mood over David's death and she doesn't have the energy to contradict Paul's claims.
Later, Krista has a heart-to-heart over how she's coping in the wake of David's death.
7. Toadie tries to move on from Melanie
Toadie spends the night on the sofa at the Kennedy house to support Melanie when she needs him. The former couple admit how much they've missed each other, but Toadie decides that it's time to draw a line in the sand by telling Melanie that his future now lies with Terese.
The next morning, Toadie admits to Terese that Melanie pushed the boundaries with him when they were alone together. Terese loses it and gives Melanie a final warning that she'll no longer tolerate her trying to win Toadie back.
8. Chelsea receives concerning news
Chelsea exaggerates her grief for David to manipulate Remi and Cara into letting her stay at Number 30 for longer.
Remi remains suspicious over Chelsea's motives and warns her that Paul's financial situation isn't as secure as she thinks. Chelsea decides to dig further.
After chatting to Terese, Chelsea discovers that Toadie has the details as he acted as Terese and Paul's divorce lawyer.
9. Haz worries about upsetting Mackenzie
Haz tries to preoccupy Mackenzie amid her grief for David and the way recent events have brought back memories of Hendrix's death. However, Haz fears that he has messed up when he accidentally makes plans for the day which repeatedly remind Mackenzie of her late husband.
When Haz doubts himself, Mackenzie reassures him that he hasn't upset her and she's glad to share her Hendrix-related memories with him.
10. Leo tries to warn off Chelsea
Paul appreciates Chelsea's support as she remains close to him following David's death, but she crosses the line when she gets involved in David's funeral planning.
Leo doesn't react well to Chelsea's attempts to worm her way into the Robinson family and he orders her to take her gold-digging elsewhere.
11. Trouble is brewing for Leo and Krista
Leo notices Aaron behaving coldly towards Krista. When Leo asks about this, Aaron admits that he agrees with Paul and believes Krista shares some responsibility for David's death.
Leo accuses Paul of stirring up resentment against Krista, but Paul urges him to consider whether David would still be alive if Krista hadn't been around.
12. Toadie and Terese reach an agreement
oadie tells Terese that he thinks she's getting too involved in Paul's grief when he has other family members to support him. Terese points out that Toadie has just done the same thing by spending the night at the Kennedy house to support Melanie.
The troubled couple agree to take a step back from Melanie and Paul and focus on each other for a while.

Bit rich of Paul to blame Krista when he told Eden about her pregnancy to begin with
Right about now PAUL is a broken man and he is going to be gunning for KRISTA! I hate that he played a part in this. Does this man never learn??? LEO will never forgive him for DAVID if he finds out.
Anyone else sick of PAUL always being the bad guy??? I love the character but come on??

Neighbours' Leo Tanaka to face a major new business dilemma
What will he do?
https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/nei...iness-dilemma/
Neighbours spoilers follow.
Neighbours businessman Leo Tanaka faces another big decision over the future of the vineyard next week.
Leo comes under pressure to salvage his co-investor deal when Byron Stone tries to secure a last-minute lifeline.
This week's episodes see Krista Sinclair finally tip off Leo over how Byron recently sabotaged his planned deal with another investor.
This left Leo with no option but to accept funds from Byron, Nicolette Stone and Kiri Durant instead.
Leo is livid when he finds out about Byron's betrayal, so he cancels the planned partnership with him, Nicolette and Kiri without even giving him a chance to explain himself.
Sadly, this hardline stance jeopardises the future of the vineyard as there aren't any other investors waiting in the wings. Nicolette also gets upset over the thought that she won't be spending as much time with Kiri from now on.
In follow-on scenes next week, Nicolette and Kiri consider their future after sharing an unexpected kiss.
The former couple question what their reignited passion means for their future. They're both secretly hopeful, but questions remain over whether they can ever truly move on from their messy break-up.
Byron makes the most of this opportunity and tries to convince Leo that Nicolette and Kiri's rekindled relationship is a good omen for the co-investor deal. Leo had previously questioned whether they'd be able to work effectively together, given their turbulent history.
Will Leo see the situation the same way, or will he risk losing the vineyard for good with his struggles to forgive Byron?

Neighbours reveals Leo Tanaka clue as murder mystery rocks Erinsborough
Is he guilty?
https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/nei...urder-mystery/
Neighbours spoilers follow.
The following article contains discussion of topics including baby loss that some readers may find upsetting.
Neighbours has confirmed that Leo Tanaka will be one of the suspects in the show's new murder mystery.
Leo is due to face scrutiny after a body is found in Lassiters Lake later this week, as previewed in a recent trailer released by the soap.
The grisly discovery is made this Thursday (March 20) ? just one of the huge storylines coming up to mark Neighbours' 40th anniversary celebrations.
Beyond that, fans can expect plenty of intrigue and suspicion as the police start to investigate.
Early next week, Krista Sinclair returns home to Erinsborough following her honeymoon and tries to work through some relationship issues with Leo.
Before Krista gets a chance to do so, she discovers that scheming Chelsea Murphy has arrived back in town with a newborn baby.
With Chelsea claiming to be a reformed character, she pays a visit to Krista and tries to make amends for what happened last year. Viewers will remember that Chelsea locked Krista in the Lassiters sauna while she was pregnant, causing her to tragically lose her baby.
Unsurprisingly, Krista has no intention of forgiving Chelsea for the past. She brands Chelsea a monster and warns her to stay away.
Later, Krista turns back to Leo and sets to work on sorting out their problems.
Unfortunately, another shocking distraction soon presents itself when the couple find out that the body of someone they know has been found in Lassiters Lake.
Amid the chaos and confusion, Krista fails to spot that Leo has a mysterious scratch on his knuckles.
Does this mean that Leo played a part in the shocking death? Whatever the case, it's surely only a matter of time before the police start asking him some difficult questions...

Neighbours' Leo Tanaka to be caught out in mystery death plot
A body was found in Lassiters Lake...
https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/nei...ry-death-plot/
Neighbours spoilers follow.
Leo Tanaka will be caught out on Neighbours as the soap?s murder-mystery storyline kicks off.
It was announced earlier this month that the Australian soap would celebrate its 40th anniversary with a range of special storylines, with one shocking arc seeing a body found in Lassiters Lake.
Leo is one of the first individuals to come under suspicion for the murder, with next Tuesday?s (March 25) scenes seeing Detective Rafe Fox begin his routine questioning with the businessman.
Leo states that he didn?t see the deceased on the night of their death, though Aaron Brennan isn?t best pleased with his lie. Leo, however, believes the story to be harmless, urging his friend to back him.
Aaron reluctantly agrees, though he is soon regretting his decision after the police find evidence that Aaron had been spotted on a run near the scene of the crime. Feeling backed into a corner, Aaron confesses and says that Leo had pressured him to falsify his story.
Rafe subsequently confronts Leo about his lie regarding his whereabouts on the night of the crime. Is Leo hiding something?
With the soap?s 40th anniversary in full swing, executive producer Jason Herbison recently spoke exclusively with Digital Spy about some of his creative decisions, sharing that he wanted to balance tradition with innovation.
?The 30th and 35th anniversaries had a lot of nostalgia, as did the 2022 finale. I know viewers look forward to seeing past characters so I wanted to have an element of that, but I also wanted to look to the future as well,? he explained.
?We landed on a simple theme of 'celebrating big soapie twists and turns' ? contemporary stories that have a nod to the past, in the sense that we have done similar things before. Pretty much everything in soap has been done before and the key is always trying to do things in a slightly different way.?
The storyline comes after the soap was cancelled by Amazon following the closure of its Freevee streaming service.

Neighbours' Leo to make desperate escape plan ? will he flee Erinsborough forever?
This could be the end?
https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/nei...a-escape-plan/
Neighbours spoilers follow.
Neighbours businessman Leo Tanaka is pushed to his absolute limit next week as he decides to flee from Erinsborough forever.
As the walls continue to close in over Sebastian Metcalfe's mysterious death, Leo starts to wonder whether a life on the run could be his best option.
Another hellish week for Leo unfolds as Sebastian's grieving father Stan (played by guest star Justin Hosking) visits Erinsborough for a showdown.
Stan knows that Leo has been arrested and charged for Sebastian's murder ? and he's determined to see justice served come what may.
"It's fair to say that Stan isn't the warmest of characters ? nasty outbursts seem to run in the Metcalfe family," our Neighbours source teases.
"Stan leaves Leo terrified by threatening to make his life absolute hell for killing his son. Leo knows that he's innocent, but there's no chance that Stan will listen to him."
Things only get worse for Leo when he receives a devastating update from the expert legal team who are supposed to be saving him.
Byron Stone breaks the bad news that the lawyers have lost an expert witness who'd originally promised to testify in Leo's defence.
The key figure in question is now siding with the prosecution instead, leaving the entire defence strategy in tatters.
"Leo's more convinced than ever that he's going to jail. He asks Byron to take over even more duties at the vineyard to prepare," our insider adds.
"Krista is on hand to try boosting Leo's spirits, but he warns her to be more realistic about his slim chances of avoiding prison."
Unaware that JJ Varga-Murphy has just discovered who really killed Sebastian, Leo makes a drastic plan to escape town while he still has a chance to. Can he really cope with a life on the run? And will his daughter Abigail be going with him?
