I think you are right, Mr p, read that not so long ago :)
I've just seen Larry Lamb being interviewed on BBC 1 News. He said his money is on Ronnie!
I just can't be bothered to try to guess anymore, I will wait until Thursday and see who it was. I keep changing my mind all the time and more than likely will get it wrong anyway, lol :p
EastEnders' executive producer Diederick Santer has promised that viewers can expect a "satisfying" conclusion to the soap's 'Who Killed Archie?' mystery.
Walford's secret killer will finally be revealed to viewers and cast members alike during the show's live 25th anniversary episode this Friday.
The much-anticipated reveal will follow weeks of secrecy and suspicion which began when Archie, played by Larry Lamb, was murdered in the Queen Vic on Christmas Day.
Discussing the whodunit storyline, Santer told the drama's official website: "I've said before that the outcome is surprising and yet, like all good surprises, will be in retrospect inevitable. I think it's a good outcome, I think it makes sense - I know it makes sense.
"I don't think it will be one of those ones where the audience go, 'Huh?' I think it will be satisfying, most importantly. I hope so - it's for the audience to tell me."
Meanwhile, offering advice on how viewers can crack the case themselves, Santer revealed: "What I can tell you is that there are three big clues - one in the Christmas Day episode, one more recently than Christmas and there's another one that, if I were to tell you where it was, would perhaps give it away too easily.
"There have been numerous red herrings as well, so me saying that there are clues may or may not be helpful!"
Im so excited, I just cant wait till Friday. Im tunng in to Perdys Psychic Line on Thursday just to discover the culprit
 So I got the day wrong but I might tell you on Thursday anyway
I was disappointed to read in the TV listings mags that the live episode will only last half an hour :(
How will they fit it all in?
Former EastEnders star Larry Lamb has predicted that the killer of his character Archie Mitchell was a woman.
Mystery has surrounded the identity of Archie's murderer since the Walford villain was bumped off in the Queen Vic on Christmas Day.
However, on Friday, viewers will finally discover who was responsible in the BBC soap's live 25th anniversary episode.
Asked who he most suspects in an interview with BBC Breakfast, Lamb commented: "I sort of reckon on a female. [But] I don't think it will be Peggy. Peggy's out soon but you can't touch Peggy.
"I'd put money on a female but I have to say, I've got no idea which. Janine's got form, but I don't know."
Meanwhile, the actor also branded the idea for the live instalment as "extraordinary", adding: "[There'll be] a lot of very nervous actors. I'm getting nervous just thinking about it for them!"
Stacey or Roxy maybe
Bookmaker William Hill has slashed its odds on Tracey The Barmaid being revealed as Archie Mitchell's killer in EastEnders.
The long-standing Queen Vic employee was previously one of the biggest outsiders in the betting with odds of 100/1, but she can now be backed at 7/1 following strong support from punters.
Jane Slaughter, who plays the background character, recently spoke to DS about the possibility of Tracey being Archie's killer.
Speaking at the time, Slaughter commented: "I wouldn't think she's that dark but who knows - she could be. I've heard there are odds at the bookies to be had for her but why? Why would she have killed him? Because he's threatening The Vic? Is it The Vic she protects or the family?"
Meanwhile, Sean Slater (Rob Kazinsky) remains the favourite to be unveiled as the murderer in Friday's live 25th anniversary episode. Despite the character's absence from the programme, he currently has odds of 7/4.
William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams commented: "Tracey would be a serious shock to all, but we are hoping that Sean is proved to be a saint not a sinner, as if he is the killer we will be paying out a small fortune."
I can't believe it's Tracey or Sean. The spoiler above told us that it would be someone Jack would cover for, even at Bradley's expense. If that's true, I think the murderer must be Ronnie or Roxy.
However, if the thing with Jack doesn't turn out to be true, my money's on Peggy at the moment. I'm absolutely sure it's not Bradley now, even though I voted for him.
Bradley and Ronnie and Janine all seem to obvious
I think its Roxy or Jack himself
Why would Jack cover for Peggy or Sam ??????
I think there's a possibility that DCI Marsden could have killed Archie. It would be a brilliant twist to the story, a real surprise to the viewers but it would also make perfect sense.
EastEnders is celebrating its 25th anniversary this week - a big part of the show for the past 25 years has surrounded the Mitchells, how corrupt they've been and their dodgy dealings with 'the old bill'. This week, all of this could be brought together if it's revealed to us that Marsden killed Archie in a desperate attempt to nail one of the Mitchells for his murder and bring down the whole Mitchell family once and for all.
It's been mentioned in passing that she's dealt with the Mitchells before and since the murder has happened, she has been presented as almost obsessed with catching out one of the Mitchells to pin the murder on. When Ian was brought in for questioning, she would have been delighted if she could have pinned the murder on him, as his arrest would have hurt Ben Mitchell who Phil and Peggy really care for.
With the weeks leading up to the murder, she would have observed that Archie was becoming disliked with all members of the community, especially the Mitchell family. Her obsession with the Mitchells would have meant she was watching and observing them at all times. She came up with the plan to kill Archie so she could destroy the Mitchell family by framing one of them, and also upsetting Peggy and Roxy as she knew how much they loved him despite everything he did.
Not only this but she seems really obsessive and passionate over her police work. Not only could she destroy the Mitchell family by killing off Archie but she could also provide herself with a big murder investigation to get her teeth into.
She seems devious to me, as if she has a hidden dark side that could snap.
On Friday, I think Bradley will be firmly in the frame but Marsden panics as her plan to bring down the Mitchells has gone wrong. She doesn't want Bradley to go down for it, so she asks him to help her frame one of the Mitchell family. Bradley is confused and she confesses to him that she killed Archie. In a panic, Bradley rushes towards the Vic to tell the Mitchells what he has heard when he is knocked over by a car just outside (recreating the tragic death of Tiffany Mitchell in 1998). Once Bradley has died, everyone assumes he murdered Archie and Marsden is left roaming free for now.
What do people think?
Every one seems to have forgotten Max and Jack's sister, Archie really gave her some grief, it could be her if it is a woman ???Just a thought :-)
Well, I guess we probably know now it is not Bradley because as far as we know the murder will be pinned on him but he didn't actually do it. Jack apparently knows who the murderer is and tells them that he will make sure they get away with it and that the murder is pinned on Bradley. Why would he cover for anyone other than Ronnie or Roxy? Maybe he would do it to have a hold over them. If it was, say, Phil, think of the power this would Jack give over him.
Great theory DaveyWavey. Inspector Marsden. I like it.
Sean Slater is now the odds-on favourite to be revealed as Archie Mitchell's killer in tomorrow's climactic edition of EastEnders.
Bookmaker William Hill has slashed its odds on Sean being the murderer to 4/7 following a flurry of bets from punters.
The troubled character's strong showing in the betting comes despite the fact that he has been off screen since January 2009 following Rob Kazinsky's decision to quit the role.
Meanwhile, Janine Butcher's love interest Ryan Malloy - played by Neil McDermott - remains second favourite in the betting at 11/2.
Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) and Walford legend Peggy Mitchell (Barbara Windsor) are joint third favourites with odds of 9/1.
In a statement, William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams said that a total of £1 million could be gambled on the outcome by the time the betting closes.
He added: "The BBC have done a brilliant job keeping everyone guessing as we have taken bets on 24 different members of the cast, but the absent Sean Slater has been today's big gamble."
The killer's identity will finally be revealed to viewers in tomorrow night's live 25th anniversary episode.
DS
William Hill's odds don't seem to bear much resemblance to what we've been discussing here. I guess most people don't hear about spoilers like the fact that Jack may be covering for somebody.
I don't know why Sean is the favourite! I am really surprised... it has to be one of the current cast that killed him or it's a complete cop out.
Surely he'd have gone to check Stacey was OK if his motive was killing Archie because of what he did to Stacey? It just wouldn't make much sense if the killer was Sean, if you ask me.
I'm thinking its Roxy who killed Archie more and more
just watching this morning and Diederick Santer said 7 people have know there as been 3 big clues already and shron marshall said any clue i should look out for tonight and he said it someone who is angry..but then there all angry lol.......im now thinking janine
We asked you who you thought killed EastEnders' villain Archie Mitchell and an overwhelming 32% think that Stacey Slater is the one with blood on her hands.
http://uk.tv.yahoo.com/blog/article/406997/
Stacey finished ahead of Phil Mitchell, who got 16% of the vote, while 8% think that Peggy Mitchell was behind the Christmas Day murder.
Interestingly, 12% of those who voted in our poll thought that none of the 12 key suspects we had listed were to blame and instead thought that someone else was behind the killing. Perhaps a character from the show's past will be unmasked as the culprit in a shock twist?
Amost 3,000 votes were cast and the full poll results were:
Stacey Slater - 32%
Phil Mitchell - 16%
Someone else - 12%
Peggy Mitchell - 8%
Ryan Malloy - 7%
Jack Branning - 7%
Bradley Branning - 6%
Glenda Mitchell - 3%
Sam Mitchell - 3%
Janine Butcher - 3%
Roxy Mitchell - 2%
Ronnie Mitchell - 2%
Ian Beale - 1%
The murderer will be revealed tonight at the end of EastEnders' first-ever live episode at 8pm on BBC One.
The outcome of the storyline is such a massive secret that the actor who is behind the killing will only be told he or she is responsible halfway through the episode.
Only seven people in the EastEnders' production team know the answer to one of the biggest soap whodunnits ever.
My wife's sisters cousin heard someone in town who knows a man whose brother once watched Eastenders and he told his Uncle that the killer was Mr Pappadopolous.
So Im off to Peter Barlows bookies to stick a monkey on the Pony to win
Ben Mitchell has become the surprise favourite to be revealed as Archie Mitchell's killer in tonight's live episode of EastEnders.
The unlikely suspect, played by young actor Charlie Jones, now has odds of 11/4 with William Hill following strong support from punters over the past 24 hours.
Yesterday's favourite Sean Slater (Rob Kazinsky) follows closely behind at 7/2. The troubled character being unveiled as the murderer would also be a shock as he has been absent from screens since January 2009.
Jean Slater (5/1) and Becca Swanson (6/1) are the next two biggest suspects in the betting.
Meanwhile, Ronnie Mitchell's first love Joel Reynolds has now made a late appearance in the market with one gambler placing a substantial bet on the character at 33/1. Since the bet, William Hill have slashed his odds to 7/1.
In other news, Dot Branning, Heather Trott, Minty Peterson and Ian and Jane Beale are currently the main outsiders, with each being available for bets at 100/1.
EastEnders Live airs tonight at 8pm on BBC One.
My final decision is Ronnie killed Archie and I'm sticking too it. I think she'll confess to Roxy tonight.
You sure you will not change your mind, Davey?? :D
Diederick Santer has also said that it would be a surprise, which is why I don't think it's someone obvious like Ronnie or Janine. I think it may be Roxy, as that would be surprising, and Jack would cover up for her, but then again she's one of the only characters who hasn't been angry.
Stacey also fits the bill, but I don't think she'd let Bradley suffer as he has been.
Ronnie and Bradley and Janine are way too obvious
I think its Jack no Roxy no Peggy - roll on the live episode
phil, ronnie and janine are too obvious,my money is on Ryan.
