Ledger 'died of accidental overdose'
Heath Ledger died accidentally from an overdose of six different types of prescription medication, it has been revealed.
The New York City Medical Examiner's Office announced that the actor suffered "acute intoxication'' from the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine.
The Brokeback Mountain star was found dead at his Manhattan apartment on January 22. He was naked in his bed, with a variety of sleeping pills nearby. Anti-anxiety drugs were also found in the apartment.
His ex-fiancée Michelle Williams arrived in his home city of Perth with the couple's two-year-old daughter earlier today to prepare for his funeral.
Hammond 'may take Richard & Judy slot'
Richard Hammond is making a pilot for Channel 4 seen as a possible replacement for Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan at teatime.
It is reportedly one of several programmes, but the only chatshow, hoping to get the slot when the veteran pair depart in the summer. A not-for-broadcast pilot will be made this month by So Television.
The Top Gear presenter fronted Richard Hammond's Five O'Clock Show for ITV1 in 2006 but it struggled to attract viewers. He has also hosted Brainiac for Sky One and a documentary about Evel Knievel.
A Channel 4 spokeswoman said: "We are doing a number of pilots for daytime slots and this Richard Hammond show is one of them."
When will ITV and C4 realise that chat shows don't get ratings in the 5pm slot?
Lacey Turner 'punched in car park'
EastEnders star Lacey Turner was punched in a supermarket car park after a night out clubbing, say reports.
According to The Sun, the soap star was on her way home from the Destiny club in Watford when she was knocked to the floor by a gang of men.
Turner, who plays Stacey Slater, was reportedly with her co-star Aaron Sidwell (Steven Beale) when the attack occurred.
A witness said: "They’d been having a really good night, but you could see she wasn’t happy. I left at around the same time and saw her and Aaron walking across a nearby supermarket car park when the group of men approached them.
"There were a few words exchanged and suddenly one of the blokes lashed out. He hit her with a very powerful punch - it knocked her right to the ground. She looked really shaken up and had to be helped to her feet.
"Everyone stopped. They couldn’t believe what had happened. A couple of people helped her into a car and she went home."
However, a friend of Turner has denied reports of a fight, insisting that she was "accidentally clipped" and that she stumbled onto the floor.
The friend added: "Lacey walked past a fight. She was lucky not to be hurt, but was enjoying a scheduled day off yesterday. She is fine and will return to filming today.
Gascoigne detained under Mental Health Act
Paul Gascoigne has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act.
The former England footballer was detained following an incident at the Hilton Hotel in his hometown of Gateshead last night.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "Police attended the Hilton Hotel in Gateshead yesterday evening after we received a report of concern for a 40-year-old man staying at the hotel. The man was detained under the Mental Health Act and no one was injured during the incident."
A Hilton Hotels representative said Gascoigne had been staying at the establishment for just a day and had not been seen making trouble.
She told the Guardian: "He checked in on Wednesday morning. The call actually came in from the police so it was not from the Hilton.
"There was nothing that happened at the hotel to make us think that there was anything wrong and once the police arrived that evening, he was escorted peacefully away. It's a very sensitive situation."
Gascoigne has been treated for stress, depression and alcohol addiction on several occasions during the last decade.
Last November, he was banned from boarding a plane in Malta because he was deemed to be too drunk. He had left rehab in Arizona the previous month.
Hammond admits to suffering depression
Richard Hammond has admitted that he suffered from "depression" after his near-fatal car crash in 2006.
He revealed that he struggled to deal with the range of emotions that he felt after the accident because of damage to his brain and confessed that he still struggles with memory loss.
Hammond told The Sunday Times: "I damaged all the complicated bits of the brain to do with processing and emotional control.
"[I was] prey to every single emotion that swept over me and I couldn't deal with it. I had to relearn things from scratch.
"I'll still have a week when I'm freaking out about something and I'll realise it's because I'm encountering a new emotional state and I have to evolve a new strategy to cope with it.
"My memory is a lot better but the other day I forgot the PIN numbers to all my cards. All of them. Completely gone."
The Top Gear presenter crashed a jet-powered dragster while driving at 288mph at an airfield near York 18 months ago.
He was expected to spend 15 months in hospital but left after just a few weeks.

Katona is quoted as saying: "Britney needs to sort herself out so she can try and get her kids back.
"If she doesn't, I'll adopt the children and look after them. Mind you, I've got enough as it is."
