We are watching teenagers in a small village with little escapism... I believe a lot of young people then and now would benefit from what I remember as going to a youth club, you had to be of a certain age (14) but you were in a warm, dry and safe environment .. young people were able to socialise and usually the place was supervised by a youth worker so they had access to a listening ear.. Sadly, costs to keep a place open and employ someone to make sure they were safe and had a listening ear if needed meant closure to all that what was available at that time... Weatherfield.. what does it have to offer to teenagers.. nada.. zilch... I believe that recreational facilities for young people need to be made available with appropriate adults being able to give advice and support.. I like to think that there would be less crime committed .. just my opinion..

Depends what you mean by boring. Pretending to rob Dev's stealing cars, and Betsy's playing truant, drinking then getting shot is not exactly boring. If you mean they fit Soap's stereotype of troubled teens you are right.

How are soap actors paid in the UK? If they have more lines, do they get paid more? Or is it a seniority thing?

I'm sorry, there have been some ridiculous and unbelievable storylines in soap operas over the years, but this Lisa/Becky/Betsy storyline takes the absolute biscuit. It is definitely time for the fast finger forward.

I know this story is ridiculous and unlikely but I am quite enjoying this part of it. I cannot wait to see how it pans out. Will Betsy go to live with Becky? Will Lisa and Becky get back together? Or will all four of them live togher, happily ever after? I certainly am enjoying this story more than the Abi and Carl romance, that just bores and annoys me.

I know it's a different soap, but I just hope that Ulric Browne and Jane Slaughter are the highest paid soap actors. they deserve it!

The car might not be worth as much as we think, depending if has a high mileage. Larger cars do not always hold their value in the second hand market in the way that smaller/compact cars do, due to higher running costs, parts, tax and insurance etc. Motor mechanics often buy cheaper second hand cars because they have the means to keep them running cheaper than others could.

I have just read that William Roache earns over ?250,000 a year, making him one of the highest paid soap stars. Although he filed for bankruptcy in 2024, after problems with HMRC. That is a lot of money considering how often we have seen him recently.

There are a couple of soap actors in the US who make upwards of $1,000,000 a year. Although TPTB usually do NOT make the higher-paid actors' salaries public.

I see you're a bit behind.....

Who knew Bernie would be such a whizz at manipulating a PowerPoint presentation? In a matter of what, a couple of minutes at most, she managed to create a new well designed slide and insert it into the programme while keeping the title slide on the screen and all in front of people watching. It was especially impressive as she had to ask at the beginning how the presentation worked.
