Good point. Money has always allowed
the wealthy to buy a way out of problems.
Wonder if further down storyline- it will
happen again in this case.

Lachlan clearly has history before, his Mum has doubted him ever since, even on the day it happened. But oh no, she'll have head over heels loyalty for him now. I love soap laws. What a muppet.
What I don't understand is-that Lachlan's mom knows his son's past and his stalking history. She was even browsing through the pictures of Alicia on his phone-but believed straight away his explanation of the book, and when he said that Alicia is his girlfriend(yeah right! in his head!! creep :D ) I think Chrissie comes out as one of these posh parents who wants to deny the problems and keep the image of good squeaky clean family going..And trying to score points from her son. I love my kids, but if they had past like that, I would express my doubts in front of police too.

As a parent you can't be their friend, you must behave like a parent even when it's not easy-only that way you can help your kids, not by brushing the problem under the carpet.
I think when people or their family have
made a lot of money and created a certain
lifestyle - they are frightened of losing
it-so normal morals desert them and
they will "believe"or pretend to-almost
anything in order to preserve the facade
I dont think its just a facet of soap storylines
-families including Mothers do cover up
serious crimes inc murder in real life- and
remain undetected.
But I agree with Mariba that once over the
shock/disbelief stage -most would do the
right thing-well I hope so!

I've watched last week's Emmerdale omnibus thanks to Tammy and Perdita. I've never watched Emmerdale regularly though I have given it a go on a couple of occasions but never got into it. I'm going to keep watching for a couple of weeks to see if I get hooked on it. I kind of hope I don't in a way though lol.
The Alicia/Lachlan storyline interests me because I've been concerned for a while about the effect of the ready availability of hardcore porn on youngsters growing up nowadays. Boys and girls are being given a totally twisted view of sex and relationships from watching it.
Maidmarian and I've spoken several times on other threads about the worrying rise of young girls getting into abusive relationships and I believe porn has a lot to do with this. Girls are often expected to be submissive during sex and always ready to please their boyfriends. Even more worrying, the girls themselves often think that this is how they should behave in a relationship to keep their boyfriends.
I'm very concerned as the grandmother of a new baby girl. :(
I don't think young kids with little sexual knowledge would have understood anything really. Alicia's description to the police officer of waking up to feel him "internally" was plenty descriptive to me though.
I expected her to at least have some secret doubts but it didn't appear that way at all. Very unrealistic given the way she'd been fretting about his behaviour all week.
What makes the attack even worse is that it was totally premeditated. He couldn't have known she'd pass out but from what I can remember (I didn't have my full attention on it because I was caring for the baby at the time) he knew she'd be partying and drinking and planned to get her on her own. That's extremely twisted!
Good points about depression Perdy. I've described depression as being like intense grief before and feel they're often nearly indistinguishable from one another, although you can be grief-stricken without feeling suicidal of course. They're very closely interlinked.
From my own experience I know that you forget about your loved ones when very depressed. That's how so many people commit suicide and leave behind people they love. They're called selfish by the ignorant, but depression is like a black cloud blocking the sun and you just can't feel love (or any other positive emotions) when your enmired in it (and you truly believe that anyone who cares for you would be better off without you anyway). Luckily, that cloud can (and usually does) pass.
i was willing david in hit chrissie she was horrid to alicia and daddy lawerene offering money to get rid of problem at least him and robert have doubts how can anyone believe alicia would be a pedo
Exactly. If Chrissie thinks Alicia is a pedo then she needs to ask herself why would Alicia call the Police if she was the perpetrator. She can't exactly use the excuse Lachlan turned her down as he admitted he thought she was his girlfriend and wanted it. Chrissie should have more sense.
