First of all, Billy, who comes to the show as a nice sweet vicar, is found, after all, to have a dark past, and is eventually revealed to have been instrumental in the death of - of all people - Susan, who, at the time he didn't know and was just a random person as far as he was concerned. He comes to live on Coronation Street amongst a whole gang of Barlows. He gets into a fight with - of all people - Susan's brother, Peter. Peter decides to accompany him to court to plead on his behalf. They come out of court together and a quite random fight takes place just where they happen to be walking, during which Billy gets knifed quite randomly. He then sits with Peter in the cab while he loses lots of blood and blabs out his story.
It's a good job no coincidences were used in the making of this story.
