Hold that thought. I may be out of a job next year so I will have to keep my options open. I'm on chapter 4 now. You've become Branch Secetary and have moved building. What I'm enjoying about the book as I can see many similarities between some of the characters in your book and the college. We have many people who have been here for years and are set in their ways and won't change for anyone.
my day wasn't bad did quite a lot of college work
Eventually got round to buying your book Parkerman but as I live in Gib it will take about two weeks to get here, however, I'm sure it's worth waiting for!!
It is Mooney it's comical there are some great characters in it.
Well I did buy it for my husband but it sounds too good to miss Chloe!
Buy another one for him so you can have a copy each....:D
i hate revision!!!! That is all!
I am having an awesome day.. it is the last day of our audit and I have spent last 2 weeks arguing with auditors to reduce our defect findings... I have to get 98% to pass and it is looking like I will have 98.3% which is good.. Will know by end of the day!! I am so exhausted and looking forward to a relaxing night
Glad you're having a fab day at work Shiv. Congratulations on the Audit and a Huge Happy birthday Hug. When do you leave.
Good for you. Hope everything works out. I went to see Olly Murs and JLS Last night. Great concert. It was outside and the sun shined all day. That's two days of summer we've had this year. Hopefully I will be made full-time in a couple of weeks. My Associate Principal has to make a case to HR to increase my hours. I was full-time until 5 years ago the job I did was a fixed contract and when that ended I got a new job in the college but it was only part-time. Since then I have been trying to get full-time hours but not been lucky, but in the last year or two all the other faculty staff have all been made full-time, the faculty I work in is the only one with part-time staff yet I do as much if not more work than those on full-time hours do. So fingers crossed.
Hope it works out for you, I am keeping fingers and toes crossed for you :) xx
Thank you Perdy. I have been trying for ages to get full-time but always been refused due to lack of money in the budget, but at work there are 5 faculties. There used to be 6 but they merge 2 a couple of years ago. The structure was a full-time admin and a part-time clerical, but since last year all the other clerical's have been made fulll-time apart from me. Also my admin who is also my direct line manager can't do half the jobs he's supposed to so I have to do them. He suffered an illness a few years ago similar to meningitis. It has affected him memory, because of this I have to do my job and half of his but I don't get the credit for it, and they can't demote him. Management would rather bury their heads in the sand rather than admit he needs help and support. On top of this my work load has been increasing over the last couple of years. I had my yearly staff development review this week. I stated my case and my AP agreed with me so hopefully in the next few weeks I'll be able to have to few more coppers in my purse. If I don't get the extra hours there are a couple of other jobs coming up in the college so I may apply for one of them. I just think it's unfair that I do double the work than some staff, yet get half the pay.
You are absolutely right, you should get rewarded for all the extra work you are doing. Good luck hun x
Hope ye had a good birthday Shiv! that sucks about the audit though.
I had my birthday a while back which was very nice, i went sailing to Ireland delivering a boat which was in the tall ships festival, dont know if anyoneseen this. It was in Waterford for 4 days and i had a fantastic time. Then i have been up to the west coast of Ireland visiting the famly! and that has been great as well. Its nice to catch up evry once in a while. Very tired now and come crashing back to reality! Not been used to things like traffic or busy roads over there!
now just to find a job.
Today we had a mini monsoon in Edinburgh. Rained for a couple of hours and roads get flooded. Got good news everyone my request to have my hours increased was approved on Wednesday as from 15 August I will be working full-time 9 to 5 Monday to Friday. first time in 13 years I have worked full-time. I feel a Dolly Parton sing song coming on. :D
Fantastic Kath, brilliant news!
I am heading off to the West Highland Way for a few days, not doing it all, just a couple of sections. Doing the MoonWalk in Edinburgh really got me in the way of walking and it is supposed to be good for stress. Son number one is in Africa doing voluntary work, and son number two is getting wet at T in the Park so....FREEDOM! Went out last night, and the house was still tidy when I got back in! And the strawberries were still in the fridge... really weird!
Fantastic news Kath... glad you got your hours...
I hope you'll all be watching the history-making first race at Ascot this afternoon. It's almost 250 years since jockeys began wearing coloured silks to make them easily identifiable during the melee of a horse race, and in all that time the designs sported by riders have hardly changed – until now.
In an effort to bring jockeys' attire into the 21st century, Racing for Change – an initiative set up to broaden the appeal of the sport – has commissioned a series of revolutionary new designs from BA (Hons) Graphic Design students studying at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. The winning silks will be on show for the first time in the first race at Ascot this afternoon.
Oh, did I mention, my son was the project director for this?

Well done Kath
It would seem that results are out via email today. I assumed it was alphabetical so was prepared for quite a wait. Saw someone on my facebook with surname beginning with P had her results, so I think fine, won't be long then. Now someone with surname starting with T has hers and there's no sign of mine :hmm: Checked email and the results portal thing and nothing. Starting to wonder if S has been taken out of the alphabet
fingers crossed for me everyone.. found out one of the girls on my team is taking a year out and spoke to my boss about me working her role for that year while living in Germany.. he has to check if I can get a Germany manager to be my HR manager (something to do with tax laws, can't work for Ireland in Germany) and if yes, the job is mine.. This will be good for me as I will still have a job, can learn the language and after the year apply for a full time job with the same company I am currently in.
Good luck, Siobhan, I've got my fingers crossed.
Got my fingers and eyes crossed for you Shiv.
ive had a very good day! Mayo won the Gaelic connacht final and Darren Clarke won the golf! that means i had a successful day at the bookies!
Nice one, Katy :)
You're a bit of a hustler at this gambling lark Katy are you not :D. I had tea at my sisters then we put the wii on and played just dance. I'm knackered now.
Well screw it all... One big company and they can't make a simple transfer from country to country.. It is the most stupid... One country will only let me go as a contractor and the other will only take me on a full transfer.. neither will back down and it won't be approved by either... feck that... back to plan A, finish here on the 21st October and take a month off... damn office politics...
That is rubbish Shiv, I hope that you get it sorted out.
Sorry Shiv, hope you get something sorted x
hope you get someting sorted! if not plan a sounds good, have a month off, settle in and something wil turn up i am sure!
spent most my day in the pub! i really need a job, this is not good for my liver!
