There was something on the news earlier about the first one without underlying health problems dying.
My Dad is convinced I have it. He asked me what symptoms I have and how long I'e had my cold for... it's only a cold! I'll be fine!.. My Dad doesn't understand this though.
It is scary though to think that there's nothing to be done.. it's spreading and that's that :(
my mum is the same kirsty, if i say oh ive got a headache, its swine flu! i sneeze its swine flu, anything the kids have its swine flu!
god help me if one of us actually did get it, it would be I TOLD YOU SO!!!!!
she keeps telling me to be careful and avoid anyone who may have it and avoid place i can catch it! If im going to get it im going to get it, theres nothing i can do to stop it!
my gran said yesterday that she was on the bus and some woman got on and announced to the whole bus that she was gonna open all the windows cos she didnt wanna catch swine flu off of anyone and then proceeded to lean across people to open all the windows! some people are so stupid!
Its flu........
People without underlying health problems die of "normal" flu every year (36,000 in the US and 5,000 in the UK roughly)
This is just different because its prevalent in pigs - its still flu
It is getting rather ridiculas as i keep saying it is a flu. Like jojo says lots of people die from flu every year.
Micah Richards the City defender caught it on Holiday so is confined in Cyprus and cant go back for pre season training. I found that quite amusing as he is getting more scared about the stick he will receive when it gets back to the team than the actual flu.
Apparently my old high school have it
The post-mortem of a GP who died after contracting swine flu has revealed that he died of natural causes.
Dr Michael Day, 64, who was a GP from Dunstable, died on Saturday after contracting the H1N1 virus.
Bedfordshire Police said that as a result there would not be an inquest into his death, as it was not caused by swine flu.
A post-mortem is still due for Chloe Buckley, six, from north west London who died after contracting swine flu.
Dr Day, who worked at the Priory Gardens health centre in Dunstable, died on Saturday in Luton and Dunstable Hospital.
Chloe, who died on Thursday at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, central London, had contracted the virus in the UK.
She attended St Catherine's School in West Drayton, north west London.
The school has closed early for the summer break following her death.
Her parents, Michael and Jacinta, released a statement saying they were satisfied with the medical care Chloe had received and asked to be left alone to grieve.
"We are obviously very distressed at the loss of our fun-loving baby girl.
"Nothing can replace her in our lives and we would plead with you to allow us to deal with our loss in private and without further intrusion.
"We are satisfied that the medical care Chloe received at all times was appropriate, and are disappointed with the stories that have been printed that suggest otherwise."
First case of swine flu in my town today.
Oh wow Davey have they been abroad. I'm worried about my neice catching it rather than anyone else in the family as she has underline health problems.
People with health problems will get the vaccine first. :)
Someone my dad knows told him her son has swine flu - two roads away from us. :ninja: The family are meant to be going to the Caribbean in a few days, Dr says if he is up to it he can go. I wouldn't want to be on that plane. :p
i think almost 100 people where i live have it!
9 confirmed cases in my school/sixth form :| I just thought it was all rumours :(
Theres a confirmed case in my school too. And other schools in the area.
...I bet I blimming have it now!
one of our family friends has it! the weird thing is her mum works at the same school has my mum and shes allowed to still go into work even though shes obviously been in close contact with her and is around kids all day!
No way really there isn't anyone in Edinburgh who has been diagnosed with it since it was first arrived in Britain. There was a couple who were on the same flight as the honeymoon couple from Falkirk the first people to catch it but they were confined to there home and since then all the cases are in the west of Scotland.
I am not sure how many are in Ireland. tried to google it and I only got 13 case in Northern Ireland and Possibly 1 in Republic...
My mum has said to me 'you better not have swine flu' cos my bad throat and coughing and feeling like utter rubbish.
You see its been in our town for like 2 weeks now and I mean like really close, someone from my old high school got it and thats only less than a 5 min walk. I live in a pretty small place so you know
Can you be more specific where you are so we can all give the place as wide a berth as possible please
I have just heard on the radio that Cherie Blair has got swine flu
http://www.newscientist.com/article/...swine-flu.html
AS IF people struggling with obesity did not have enough to worry about, they now face a new health hazard. According to statistics from the US, overweight people appear more likely to die of swine flu.
Most of the people who have died from H1N1 swine flu have had an underlying health problem that weakened their ability to fight off the virus. Among the conditions recognised as increasing the risk from flu are hypertension, diabetes, chronic lung obstruction and coronary disease. Now it may be time to add obesity to the list.
a kid at one of the playschools my sis volunteers at has swine flu though luckily he doesnt go the day she helps there. the manager phoned her just now to let her know and said that 5 other kids and one of the people who works there has also been sick all throughout the night and today. my sis has been sick a lot this morning as well but hopefully cos nothing else is wrong with any of them its just a sickness bug thats going around there
I was speaking to my friend who works in New Look earlier and she was saying that the staff in there have to wash their hands every few minutes and if they use the phone they have to wipe the handset after use.
washing your hands every few minutes seems a bit excessive! i could understand washing them after they coughed/sneezed and can understand the wiping of the phone but it seems a bit extreme just having to wash them all the time
At dancing tonight everyone commented on how I looked tired and pale and stuff and I was like yeah I feel ill now and then and one of girls knows somone who has swine flu and was like oooo...thats how it all starts out
Let us know if you grow a snout and trots for feet and we'll put in quarantine on the DS forum. Only joking honey hope you're okay have you phoned NHS 24 to check your symptoms.
Yeah but this is New Look... loads of girls... it was bound to happen haha.
Oh dear Abbie :/ stay away form the mud! Don't get tempted :p
My Nan rang the doctors about me the other day because my Mum and Dad were convinced I had Swine Flu.. the symptoms were like a fever, blocked nose (the whole flu shabam) and diarrhoea, all of which I had, apart from diarrhoea, but I'm feeling better, not 100% but i'm still ok.. so I obv. don't have it :p
they said on the radio that a 6yr old boy had died from it but they didnt know whereabouts, my dad just said it was where we live!
On the radio it just said Kent.
I'm getting scared of it now, but so many people die of normal flu and colds.. I don't know what the difference is between Swine Flu and Flu?
I reckon you need to get tested to find out for sure :searchme:
