EastEnders fans, rejoice - there could be some happier times ahead for viewer favourite Jay Brown.
Jamie Borthwick appeared on ITV's This Morning today (May 26) and hinted that his character will be forgiven by the Mitchell family before too long, despite being cast out by them a few weeks ago.
Poor Jay became public enemy number one on Albert Square last month when it was revealed that his girlfriend Star 'Linzi' Bragg was an underage schoolgirl. Jay had no idea of this while they were together, but he still struggled to convince the local residents that he'd done nothing wrong.
Speaking about the Mitchells' reaction today, Borthwick laughed: "They've kicked me out at the minute, but I'm really hoping that I shall be back in soon. I can't imagine I'll be out for that long."
Asked how difficult the storyline was to film, Borthwick replied: "Not really, I have to say. Everyone has approached me... when they're saying about it, they're kind of saying it in a bit of a negative: 'Oh, it must have been hard, I don't like that'.
"For me as an actor, it's great to go in and do, so I'm just looking at it like that, really.
"That's just what the show does so well. To be involved in it was brilliant. I was obviously happy that it was something that everyone was talking about."
Borthwick also paid tribute to Barbara Windsor following her emotional exit last week, revealing that she's a "massive" influence on his own career.
He said: "Her husband is my agent, so getting to know her really closely as of late is just lovely. She's a massive influence and she's brilliant and I'm really sad that she's gone."

drug addiction now after drug seller dealer
I really do not know anything about drug dealing and being an addict but from the way a dealer is portrayed in films and tv shows I thought dealers are always clean which is why they make so much money ... although some might start taking drugs themselves though, I guess

If only you didn't live hundreds of miles away... :D
Poor Jay he has no one, how could Ben just leave him there
Actor Jamie Borthwick may have only recently returned to EastEnders, but he's wasting no time in letting spoilers slip.
Borthwick's homeless character Jay Brown previously left the Square after his relationship with underage Linzi Bragg was discovered. However, a chance encounter with Pam Coker at a shelter persuaded him to come back.
Looking ahead, the 22-year-old actor is already filming this year's Christmas episodes and he teased to the Radio Times: "It's not how it usually is this Christmas."
"Expect a bit of a shock. It's a mixture of happy and low-key," he added.
Though we'll miss the explosive festive episodes of yesteryear, we're excited to see this new direction for the soap.
Since Sean O'Connor came on board the series as executive producer earlier this year, EastEnders has taken a more back-to-basics approach, and it appears that will spill over into the holiday season.

Discussing the devastating scenes ahead, Jamie Borthwick, who plays Jay, said: "There is an accident at the house and after that, Jay just cannot cope anymore. He needs to get away from Walford because being around there is just causing nothing but carnage.
"He tries to persuade Gina to come with him to Margate ? he wants to go back there because him and Lola had spent some time there together.
"Gina says she is going to go, but doesn't end up coming. So, on a whim and under the influence, he drives to Margate, but it doesn't quite go to plan."
Jay doesn't reply to Nadine immediately, instead confiding in Gina Knight, who advises him to find out what Nadine wants.
When Jay meets her, Nadine drops the bombshell that she?s pregnant with his baby.
Understandably overwhelmed, Jay rushes off and later struggles to process the news that Nadine is pregnant.
jamie suspended for a comment made on strictly
Jamie Borthwick has been suspended by the BBC after using a slur against people with disabilities on the set of Strictly Come Dancing.
The offensive remark was made last November during filming for the BBC dance show’s flagship Blackpool week,*the Sun on Sunday reported.
The BBC said his language was “entirely unacceptable and in no way reflects the values or standards we hold and expect”.
The newspaper said that Borthwick, who plays Jay Brown - a key long-running character on the soap - apologised for "any offence and upset".
