Coronation Street stars Tina O'Brien and Sean Ward will have no room for nerves next week, as they've been asked to launch the show's dramatic live episode.
The pair's characters Sarah Platt and Callum Logan will share the opening moments of the special hour-long broadcast, which has been scheduled in to help celebrate 60 years of ITV.
Brand new images released by the soap see Sarah being confronted in the Platts' living room by her evil ex-lover, who is piling pressure on her family.

Callum visits Sarah at the Platt house
This is the final scene from next Monday's double bill (September 21) and the action in the live episode will pick up at exactly this point on the Wednesday.
Menacing Callum pays his visit to Sarah after issuing the Platts with a final demand for £20,000, warning that he will hurt them badly if they don't cough up the cash.
Little is known about what happens in the live episode itself, but producers have teased that Callum will close in on the terrified Platts and leave them with nowhere else to run.

Coronation Street airs its hour-long live episode on Wednesday, September 23 at 7.30pm on ITV.
How many more clues are the Corrie writers going to give us that Callum will die on Wednesday? There's Gail's manhole; everybody knowing Callum's on the run from both Denton and the police; he told Gemma he wouldn't see her again; he's taken his passport; David's at last decided to take action; Tony and Todd have decided to get to him before Jason does. Have I missed anything?
I really, really hope this is all a clever double bluff because Callum's death on Wednesday is now waaaay too predictable. It'll almost certainly be hugely anti-climactic if it happens - unless there's lots of twists and turns, and the writing and acting are of the highest standards.
Anyone feeling excited? I'm looking forward to it but when I compare how I feel to the excitement of EE's recent live episode, there's no comparison at all.
Viewers of Coronation Street's highly-anticipated live episode will be able to go behind the scenes as it is happening through an online stream.
The hour-long live episode, celebrating 60 years of ITV, will be accompanied by a second screen experience, whereby for the first time in the show's 55 year history the audience have the chance to watch what is going on behind the cameras as the episode goes out live.
Eleven hidden cameras have been rigged in and around the Manchester based set, which will allow viewers to see the cast and crew work during the episode which will air at 7.30pm on Wednesday.
The stream, hosted by Stephen Mulhern, will broadcast live, so while viewers watch the action unfold on ITV, they will also be able to watch it being made simultaneously on Facebook and itv.com via their laptop, mobile or tablet.
Soap bosses are allowing the audience to be a part of the action and see their choices reflected on screen.
One viewer will get their tweet or Facebook message written on the empty blackboard in the Rovers by the end of the episode, and viewers can choose the music at Lloyd Mullaney and Andrea Beckett's leaving party by playing along in an interactive poll on Facebook and Twitter.
The episode will feature the culmination of Callum's reign of terror over the Platt family, along with Lloyd and Andrea's leaving party in the Rovers, Roy Cropper and Cathy Matthews getting closer and Tim Metcalfe finding out about Sally Webster's secret kiss with her ex Kevin.
I think it'd be quite interesting to watch the behind the scenes footage, but not at the same time as the episode itself! Talk about ruining the tension.
Meanwhile, in other live episode news, Jack P Shepherd apparently called the live episode "grim" today on Good Morning Britain, and Paula Lane has said: "It's really dark. I don't think Corrie has ever had anything this dark." (Read more here.)
Make of that what you will Corrie fans... :hmm:
Apparently, Barbara Knox is fine and still poised to appear in the live episode according to one of Corrie's producers, Ella Kelly, this afternoon.
Kelly said fans could expect "lots of firsts" from Wednesday's live show and that they were being "a little bit daring". She also promised it would be "classic Corrie".

(I was going to reply to swmc66's comment on its original thread (Corrie Current Episode Discussion) but decided it would be better to put it in this thread.)
max or todd killing callum
it would be shocking and a first for Corrie if
a child ( Max) committed murder! But done
at a same time as the Bobby saga rumbles
on in EE- its a bit like copying.Personally
I hope not - as I like Max and hes proved
the point that some children can overcome
(so.far) a poor start in life.!
If it is Todd -theres been so many
murders over the years - and Todds
never been "nice" - even in the early
days-so it would be unpleasant but not
shocking!
Despite all the hype / flagging up etc Im
still.not 100% certain(but nearly)
that its Callum.- who will be murdered
-but not long to go now!!
dupl
Hopefully Corrie will have seen how unpopular the child murderer story has been over on EastEnders and not go there, though the reception would probably be different if they did. Lucy was sorting her life out and was growing to be quite responsible (running Ian's businesses and house when he did a runner) and Callum is an out and out baddie.
I read something that Stuart Blackburn had been fired rather than choosing to leave, for a series of bizarre plots. Maybe he suggested child murderer and that was another nail in his coffin so to speak.
re behind the scenes footage- I will be looking
at the actual episode - anything else to me
would be distracting- but perhaps thats the
intention??
Im not too concerned if anyone fluffs their
lines a bit -more interested in how the story
unfolds and how believable it is and how well
its acted!
Regarding grim/ dark and Corrie never done
anything like it before? comments.
It would have to be good and something
very unexpected to happen to be even half
as good as some of the stories /acting over
the years but we wont know til episode is
shown!!?
Max - no. Everyone would say Corrie was copying EE if they went there. Anyway, Gail's taken the kids to Audrey's and I think that's where they'll remain for the live episode.
I can definitely see Todd and/or Tony doing the deed though. Neither of them would have any qualms after what Callum did to Jason.
I don't think Bobby killing Lucy's been unpopular at all. Yes, a lot of people disapproved when it was revealed (I do a lot of reading around various sites and I'd estimate it was probably half and half loved/hated the idea - I loved it personally), but lots of them subsequently came round to the idea because of the huge fallout potential of the storyline.
Unfortunately, it hasn't completely lived up to its potential (and has been downright silly at times) but it has had moments of greatness (and I'm still optimistic for a few more). Tuesday's episode focused on Max was excellent.
I think it's aimed at people who can't seem to concentrate on one thing at a time and are constantly checking at their phones/tablets etc while watching TV. Like you, I'd find that way too distracting and wouldn't be able to follow anything.
Let's keep our fingers crossed we'll be pleasantly surprised. :)
I cant really picture Todd becoming a killer. He has done some pretty bad things but he is no killer. Acidentally killing Callum also doesn't seem like a storyline to go down with Todd.
My bet is Bethany or Gail. Gail will be involved as its possible the entire Platt family wont know the true events but I reckon Gail will know at the least.

If Callum ends up under her garage convertion .. could Gail sleep there ?? :hmm:
I agree, but he can be a nasty piece of work and, teamed up with Tony, I wouldn't put it past the pair of them. If they did kill Callum, I think it's more likely to be accidental than murder.
Gail won't be in the live episode. She's taken the kids to Audrey's for the night so none of the four will appear.
See my last reply. If it happens, Gail's unlikely to learn about it until the body's discovered.
He may be slightly biased after being hired by the show, but Stephen Mulhern is still doing a pretty good job of upping our excitement for Coronation Street Live.
The TV host is fronting backstage show Coronation Street Live: Uncovered tonight (September 23), so he's one of the few people who know the secrets of the special broadcast after watching the cast in rehearsals.
Speaking on ITV's Lorraine this morning, Mulhern predicted that Corrie fans will be shocked when they see the drama that unfolds tonight.
"What happens on this Street tonight you will not believe," he promised. "I've seen the run-through. They're going to do another one today which we're going to get to see. I love Corrie. I've been a fan of Corrie for years and years.
"But the first part, I would say is possibly the most explosive TV I've ever seen. If they don't get some awards for this, then there's something wrong."
Coronation Street Live will air on ITV from 7.30pm tonight and will explore an explosive evening for the Platt family as Callum Logan closes in on them.
Mulhern's backstage show will follow on ITV2 at 10pm.

Bits in bold: That's a lot of hype to live up to but I must admit I'm getting really excited now! I wonder if a major character will die as some of you have speculated?
Hope it is not going to turn out to be a damp squid but looking forward to it too :)
I don't want Callum killed off as it seems so obvious it is happening
Sarah or Bethany or David dying would be a shock
I think Jack hinted he hadn't signed a new contract but Corrie would be stupid to kill off David Platt
Is Eileen in live episode, could she kill Callum over Jason, perhaps her and Gail team up for once no street fighting :p
This is a picture of tonight's cast, although some of the people are hard to identify. Eileen's there but Gail isn't.

Few viewers can have failed to notice the advert for tonight’s live episode of Coronation Street. UTV and ITV have been airing it repeatedly practically every evening since the beginning of September.
Bat-faced squirt David Platt, his dumb sister Sarah-Louise and Kylie are shown being chased along the cobbles by drug dealer and all-round bad boy Callum when, thanks to a clever bit of CGI trickery, they suddenly find themselves teetering on a cliff.
It’s an apt image. Coronation Street has itself been close to falling off a cliff for ages now, pushed to the very edge by a combination of lousy characters, dodgy acting by some younger cast members and silly, tedious storylines that drag on interminably.
Look, for instance, how long it took Tracy Barlow to confess that she and not guilt-ridden Carla was the one who started the fire that killed two people.
Some of the recent plots involving even the best-loved characters have been less than believable. Hayley Cropper’s assisted-death scene last year was a profoundly moving piece of TV drama.
Written with brilliance and sensitively, and superbly acted by Julie Hesmondhalgh as Hayley and David Neilson as her husband Roy, it was one of the highlights of the television year.
Shunting Roy into a potentially romantic relationship with widow Cathy Matthews (Melanie Hill) so soon after feels forced: a cynical device to give him something to do now that he’s at a loose end.
It’s effectively a betrayal of an engagingly complex character that the writers and Neilson himself have worked hard to develop over the years.
The hour-long live episode — the soap’s first since its 50th anniversary in 2010 — is ostensibly to mark ITV’s 60th birthday, which falls today. Realistically, it looks more like a straw-grasping attempt to revive a flagging programme that’s been shedding viewers faster than Elizabeth Berkley shed her clothes Showgirls.
One episode last December, the month when the soaps are usually enjoying a pre-Christmas audience boost, was watched by just 4.9 million people in the UK.
Even allowing for the fact that soaps no longer generate the kind of telephone-number viewing figures they once did, this was still a disastrous performance by any measure.
It’s an indication of how bad things are at the moment that tonight’s episode pivots on the Platts — surely the most boring and irritating fictional family on television — being menaced by the world’s most useless criminal. Callum doesn’t look capable of dealing a hand of poker let alone hard drugs.
I’ll never understand why soaps need to do live episodes in the first place, given the potential for disaster. Props can fail to work, actors can fluff their lines (as a mortified Jo Joyner did in February’s live EastEnders), miss their cues or dry completely.
The video recording technology developed in the 1960s eliminated all those potential problems, so what’s the point of burdening the less experienced actors with extra pressure?
Preparations for the episode have been troubled. Some cast members were so terrified by the prospect of performing live, they simply pulled out. Corrie veteran Barbara Knox, who plays Rita, fell ill during rehearsals and had to be replaced by a stand-in.
There are reportedly worries in the ranks that the new producer, who takes over in January, will cull the cast.
Given how poor Coronation Street has been lately, someone bumping into the scenery might be the best bit of drama we see tonight.
Where did you get the above article Tammy? Whoever wrote it is no fan of Corrie... :D
I've been wondering if tonight's big shock will even be part of the Callum storyline? Perhaps the Rovers explodes with a full house of partygoers attending Lloyd and Andrea's leaving do, or perhaps someone gets mowed down in the street?
According to a few of the tabloids today, some of the last scenes in the episode are set away from the street. If true, I think that's likely to be the Callum storyline.
With the Corrie bosses desperate for a hit tonight I'm not ruling anything out (although I still think the most likely scenario is Callum's death).
Wow ... Kylie
some of the acting was awful very panto and ott
was hoping callum would kill sarah or kylie or would get back up

Coronation Street star Alan Halsall was on standby to save the day if the soap's live episode went wrong last night.
The actor's character Tyrone Dobbs didn't feature in Wednesday night's action-packed episode, as he was looking after the kids at home while his partner Fiz Stape attended Roy Cropper's birthday party.
Halsall didn't have the night off though, as he was waiting in the wings to suddenly appear on our screens if a technical fault hit any of the live scenes.
Terence Maynard, who plays Tony Stewart, revealed the behind-the-scenes secret on ITV2's Coronation Street Live: Uncovered last night.
"They had a standby live scene, that they could have cut to. It was Alan Halsall," he explained.
"So they would have cut to him in the garden, doing whatever it is he was going to be doing! So he had to learn all that kind of stuff and be ready."
Cast and crew also pre-recorded a dress rehearsal which could have been cut to as a last resort in the event of a total technical failure.
Maynard featured in a tricky scene of his own on the night, as Tony teamed up with Todd Grimshaw to blow up Callum Logan's car.
Revealing that the explosion itself couldn't be rehearsed before going live, Maynard laughed: "We could only blow up one car! We rehearsed it once before with a 'pop', but it wasn't like that!"
Thas why they were laughing so hard after the explosion!
I actually thought they were all brilliant in fact I also thought Jack P Shepherd (David) acted better than I've ever seen him -perhaps he's more suited to live theatre but it pays a lot less. Didn't anyone else think they did well?
