I really enjoyed watching the BAFTA TV awards last night, shows how much good drama we have had over the last year that's for sure.

Please for Oliiva Colman, she stole the show! 3 I think she got up for in total. Hate the EE get it every year though I think on reflection Corrie has been better this year. But oh well that's just my personal taste,

I can't understand by what definition Eastenders was the "best continuing drama", but the whole event seemed to be based on the premise that "the BBC are putting this event out on TV, so how many BAFTA's can we award to BBC programmes without looking biased"! Epic Fail!!

exactly! that's what I thought its definitely cause it is the BBC. I think that's why I though the Paralympics winning the sports broadcasting award was so much sweeter! you could tell by there reaction that even they were shocked!

EastEnders has received the most nominations on the soaps shortlist for the 2013 TVChoice Awards.

The BBC soap leads the way with six nominations in the four serial drama categories ahead of this year's ceremony at The Dorchester in London on September 9.

Shane Richie will defend his 'Best Soap Actor' title against Coronation Street's Alan Halsall (Tyrone Dobbs), Emmerdale's Jeff Hordley (Cain Dingle) and former Hollyoaks star Emmett J Scanlan (Brendan Brady).

Meanwhile, Charlie Brooks has been nominated for her performance as Janine Butcher on the soap alongside Jean Slater actress Gillian Wright.

Coronation Street's Michelle Keegan (Tina McIntyre) and Hollyoaks' Claire Cooper (Jacqui McQueen) are also nominated for 'Best Soap Actress'.

David Witts is pitted against EastEnders co-star Khali Best, Emmerdale's Laura Norton and Marc Baylis of Coronation Street for 'Best Soap Newcomer'.

The four nominated programmes will contest the 'Best Soap' category, which was won by EastEnders in 2012.

Viewers have until July 12 to cast their votes on the TVChoice website.

the baftas and also rts awards judge the continuing drama on a particular episode which the tv networks submit. although eastenders has not been consistently good, it does have stand out episodes and that is why eastenders won the bafta for best continuing drama.

if the award was for cheer enjoyment and entertainment then hollyoaks would have won the award!

The Specsavers Crime Thriller Awards 2013

The glittering Specsavers Crime Thriller Awards celebrate the very best of British and international crime fiction and drama.

Hosted by Bradley Walsh, the awards are the culmination of the six-week Crime Thriller Club series on ITV, a studio-based show focused on crime fiction and television with high-profile guests, quizzes, bluffer's guides and peeks behind the scenes of popular dramas.

Among the 13 awards up for grabs at the Grosvenor House Hotel are Daggers for the Best UK and International Crime Series, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Film, alongside prestigious Crime Writers’ Association awards including Gold Dagger for the Best Crime Novel of the Year, and the New Blood Dagger for the Best New Crime Writer of the Year.

Nominees for awards this year include David Tennant for ITV’s Broadchurch along with Damian Lewis for Channel 4’s Homeland and Idris Elba for BBC One’s Luther in Best Actor; Olivia Colman for Broadchurch alongside Sofie Grabol for BBC Four’s The Killing 3 and Claire Danes for Homeland in Best Actress; Skyfall, Jack Reacher and Killing Them Softly in the Film Dagger; Broadchurch, Luther and The Bletchley Circle for the TV Dagger; Homeland and Boardwalk Empire for the International TV Dagger; and thriller authors like Belinda Bauer, Lauren Beukes, Derek B Miller, Hanna Jameson, Roger Hobbs and Stuart Neville for CWA Daggers.

Hollyoaks and Casualty have both been nominated for the UK Sexual Health Awards 2014.

The shows have been shortlisted for the Sexual Health Media Campaign/Storyline of the Year. Casualty is in the running following it's episode 'Unsilenced', which focused on doctor Zoe helping a victim of female genital mutilation.

Hollyoaks has been nominated for its portrayal of 'sexting' in a story which examined the aftermath of school girl Holly Cunningham sending a revealing photograph of herself to her boyfriend.

Amanda Clapham, who plays the student, said: "I was incredibly privileged to have taken on this storyline so soon after joining the cast of Hollyoaks. Sexting is a very current issue and I hope that the storyline reached out to young people that may have found themselves feeling similar to Holly."

She added: "We also had support from the NSPCC, who produced an online video with the four of us involved in the storyline for the new Zipit app. This is a brilliant device if ever someone feels uncomfortable when asked for a photo of themselves."

The app is full of tips and advice about how to stay in control while texting. It features a flirting guide and images to help with responses.

The award's winner will be announced on March 14.

Coronation Street, Broadchurch's Olivia Colman and Luther actor Idris Elba were the big winners at the Royal Television Society Programme Awards on Tuesday (March 18) at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

Broadchurch won the award for Drama Serial, with Colman picking up the Female Actor prize. Educating Yorkshire won Best Documentary Series as star Michael Steer hit out at Education Secretary Michael Gove in his acceptance speech.

Corrie, which was nominated alongside Casualty and Emmerdale, followed its previous Best Soap wins this year at the NTAs, Broadcast and TRIC Awards with the Soap and Continuing Drama gong.

Other winners on the night included Elba taking the Male Actor award for his role in Luther, Brendan O'Carroll for Comedy Performance for Mrs Brown's Boys and PLEBS for Scripted Comedy.

Game of Thrones claimed the International Award, Alan Carr won the prize for Entertainment Performance for Chatty Man and Stephen Fry received the Presenter award for Stephen Fry - Out There.

Gary Neville won the gong for Sports Presenter, Commentator or Pundit for his role on Sky Sports.

The RTS Awards are determined by a panel of judges to honour excellence in television over the last year.

The full longlist for the Inside Soap Awards 2014 has been announced today (July 29), and stars fromCoronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks will battle it out in a number of categories.

Daytime soaps Doctors, Home and Away and Neighbours are also up for gongs, as are dramas Casualty, Holby City and Waterloo Road.

The shortlist for the Inside Soap Awards 2014 has been announced today (September 23) ahead of next week's ceremony.

Soap fans spent weeks voting after the longlist was released in July and the most popular nominees from each of the categories have now been revealed.

Kate Ford, who plays Tracy, was crowned Best Bitch ahead of Emmerdale's Emma Atkins (Charity Macey) and Hollyoaks duo Anna Passey (Sienna Blake) and Tamara Wall (Grace Black).

Speaking to Daily Star Sunday, Inside Soap editor Steven Murphy described Tracy as a "soap legend".

"It was really close in the Best Bitch *category but there's no denying how much of a soap legend Tracy Barlow has become, which is all down to Kate," Murphy said.

"We can't wait to hand out the awards to soap's baddest, biggest, fittest and most fantastic on Wednesday night.

"The competition has been tougher than ever this year as all the soaps have been on top form."

Ford's co-star Natalie Gumede picked up the Best Bitch award during last year's ceremony for her portrayal of Kirsty Soames.

Other categories at this year's Inside Soap Awards include Best Family, Best Bad Boy, Best Storyline and Best Soap.

Hollyoaks leads the way with 15 nominations in total, followed by EastEnders with 14, Emmerdale with 12 and Coronation Street with 11.

I don't get how anyone could think that Danny Dyer is a better actor than David Neilson. That's not an insult to Danny, it's just that David's acting is a class apart.

However, part of me is glad that Danny won because I do think he's excellent in EE and he was really pleased to have won it. He said something along the lines that he's found his niche in life, which encourages me to think that he's planning to hang around in EE for the foreseeable.

I remember Danny saying on This Morning, (I think) that he intends to stay as long as the producer will have him. I know he is a good actor but I think it is wrong for him to be voted as best actor in a soap he has not actually been in that long ... I agree with you, David Neilson sure would have deserved the Best Actor award for continuous great performances, especially with the Hayley storyline

Fortnightly soap magazine All About Soap has announced its Best Soap Moments Of 2014 awards, which will invite fans to vote for the best storylines and scenes of the past 12 months.

Each of the big four soaps has seven nominations in the voting, while Australian soaps Neighbours and Home and Away have two each.

Corrie's nominations include Tina McIntyre's murder, Hayley Cropper's tragic death, Rob Donovan and Tracy Barlow's dramatic wedding and bad boy Callum Logan ruining the Platt family's Christmas Day.

EastEnders' nods include Lucy Beale's murder, Ronnie Mitchell's recent car accident, the shock return of Nick Cotton and Alfie Moon saving his wife Kat from a house fire after he committed arson.

One of Neighbours' nods is for the shock tornado that hit Erinsborough last year, while Casey Braxton's Home and Away death has also been recognised.

The full list of 32 nominations will be revealed in the next issue of All About Soap, which goes on sale on Tuesday (January 13).

Voting will also launch on Tuesday via the All About Soap website and will remain open until Friday, February 6. The top 10 moments as voted for by fans will be revealed in a future issue.

The 21st Screen Actors Guild Awards were aired on Sunday (January 25) on TNT and TBS, honouring the top casts in film and television.

Voting for the All About Soap Awards has been extended following a close battle in the viewer poll.

Fans of Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks, Neighbours and Home and Away have spent the past few weeks voting for their favourite moment of 2014.

The reader poll was due to close today but will now remain open until Monday (February 9) to give viewers a final chance to have their say.

Voting is thought to be close following strong support from all soap fans, meaning that the contest is still wide open for the coveted title of Best Soap Moment.

Each of the big four soaps has seven nominations in the voting, while Australian shows Neighbours and Home and Away have two each.

Corrie's nominations include Tina McIntyre's murder, Hayley Cropper's tragic death, Rob Donovan and Tracy Barlow's dramatic wedding and bad boy Callum Logan ruining the Platt family's Christmas Day.

EastEnders' nods include Lucy Beale's murder, Ronnie Mitchell's recent car accident, the shock return of Nick Cotton and Alfie Moon saving his wife Kat from a house fire after he committed arson.

As Emmerdale and Doctors were not even nominated which is very odd imo they can give it to a t**t in a hat for all i care. Oh they did :D

Just once I`d like to see someone other than Ant and Dec to win an Entertainment Programme award.
Sorry, but I just can`t see what`s so special about them both. They`re likeable enough lads, but it`s time someone else got an award.
