Emmerdale fans can expect gripping scenes this week as Declan Macey hatches a new plan to kill his deceitful wife Charity.
Last night (September 22), a surprise storyline twist saw Declan confirmed as the mystery culprit who had poisoned Charity's wine, wanting revenge after discovering that she has been lying about suffering a miscarriage.
From tonight's episode onwards, the action moves to a remote cottage after Declan (Jason Merrells) fooled Charity (Emma Atkins) by suggesting that they should get away for a holiday.
With nobody around to help her, Declan is now planning to get rid of Charity once and for all, setting the stage for one of the most dramatic Emmerdale weeks of the year.
Show bosses had kept quiet about the huge storyline to avoid exposing Declan's guilt ahead of transmission, but new details can now be revealed about the big drama ahead.
As Charity remains blissfully unaware of what Declan has in store for her, tonight's hour-long episode (September 23) sees him secretly remove the spark plugs from their car so she has no way of escape from their remote country retreat.
Charity's lack of phone signal also doesn't bode well for her as she struggles to get in touch with anyone back home.
Declan initially believes that he has plenty of time to do the deed, but there is a new sense of urgency when he learns that Charity left the cottage's address with her daughter Debbie, who is tempted to visit out of concern for her mum.
The ruthless businessman also has to worry about his sister Megan, who has realised that he was behind the poisoning scandal and wants to track him down before he does the unthinkable.
As the tension builds, Charity overhears Declan answering a phone call from a frantic Megan and is horrified to learn what he is planning - but does she have any hope of getting away before it's too late?
Emmerdale continues with an hour-long episode tonight from 7pm on ITV.
