I really dislike that we had a whole episode based around slut shaming Roxy which has caused her to feel she needs to take a step back from her own child. Her sexual behaviour can be self-destructive but it's no worse than many in the square - including her hypocritical accusers Jack, Kush and Martin. Even Ronnie didn't stick up for her sister about it!
Roxy's never been the best of mothers, but she's single and doesn't even live with her daughter so having a one night stand is nobody else's business (and it's certainly not her fault he lied about being married and his wife kicked him out!)
How dare Kush be so judge mental with Roxy, he is hardly a good role model. Its okay for a man to be a tart but not a woman. Kush and Martin at times are such .........
The Denise and Patrick scenes were so moving and very sad and as for Ian and Stacey. Comedy gold.
Patrick was great tonight with both Denise and Dot. I was very relieved we didn't have to wait to find out if Dot would have the eye treatment.
I suppose there's little chance that Denise will go through with the adoption what with the child being a Mitchell.
So Dot had wet maculars, its only very recently they have learnt to tackle that, if un diagnosed and untreated it will totally destroy the centre part of your vision, mines only partially gone and thats bad enough. Im glad that cleared that story line up.
My friends just had treatment for it. She said it was definitely worth having done .
I enjoyed the Dot/Patrick scenes. The Beale scenes tonight were enjoyable with Jane and Ian and I never thought I would say that. Don't care too much about the Shaki and Bexs storyline. Perhaps if they had better actors playing the roles I would.
All in all I enjoyed the episode, some real heart warming scenes without it being too sugary.
I think EastEnders is being made for a different audience now and I can honestly say I am enjoying the show much more under SOC than I did under DTC.
The community feel of EastEnders is coming across nicely, something lacking in both Emmerdale and Coronation Street. Soc's influences from the Archers rubbing off in Walford.
Really feel for Dot, sad times. Donna is such a brilliant character now and works so well with Roxy.
I agree, but her advice to Roxy tonight was terrible! The latter doesn't have a problem with Amy - in fact there's little doubt she loves her: Roxy's problem is with herself. I thought Donna was going to suggest therapy not adoption! Since Amy already lives with Ronnie and Jack, the only difference adoption would make would be to make the child feel even more rejected. :wall:
Ronnie and Jack aren't exactly parents of year anyway despite playing happy families at the moment. She barely looked at Matthew for the first year of his life, and he saw very little of Amy for years and only just met Richard for the first time! :wall:
The community centre scenes were really nice and atmospheric.
Really disappointing that Dot couldn't face her eye appointment. :(
" Splashy Switches on bore mode"
Dot only has age related macular degeneration in one eye, the others fine, she just needs treatment asap to keep good vision in the eye with wet maculars. Hence she can read normal print with the good eye.
So Martin cant take the afternoon off from his minimum wage job to watch Lilly .. it just breaks my heart .. not ...but then I dont have one o a soul :cartman::rotfl:
stacey was too nice to beales this is her repayment from Ebenezer ian beale cant wait for max revenge which better be good
Sharon and Stacey shone in tonight's offering. Carmel is getting on my wick a bit. The Mitchell scenes were good as were scenes with Mick and Jack, although these days there are many times I don't understand what Danny Dyer is saying. I think they let him ad lib here and there. Some of the cockney rhyming slang doesn't make sense.
Great episode, superb writing, some knock put performances from Steve McFadden and Letitia Dean and a nice supporting cast with Jamie Borthwick and Tilly Keeper. Quality stuff tonight. Can EastEnders keep this up, I doubt it?
Hopefully it'll remain superb quality as long as SOC is given free reign and the BBC don't listen to the vocal minority of moaners who prefer wall to wall sensationalism.
It was heartwarming to see Phil nearly back to his old self (something I never thought I'd say ) and looking forward to Christmas by the end of the episode.
if burglar is not jay or lee maybe roxy or stephen
poor billy he needs to catch a good break, one step up for him and always then a disaster

Enjoyed the Chris-tingle service. Sad about Dot. I found the stag amusing with the Christmas trees. You can see what is going to happen with Roxy. :(
is mick setting shrimpy up for the tree theft as max still away :p
Methinks that Monday's sentimental episode oozing with cheese was designed to lull us into a false sense that this year's Christmas in Albert Square is going to be a boring and drama free zone full of love and warmth. :p
Im confused re Dot .. I spent 4 hours today at the eye clinic, where they were calling patients in five at a time to get eye injections re wet age related maculars treatment.. did she go or did she lie that she went.
Additional.. what new eye surgery are they on about. The damage being done to the eye is in the back of it so I cant see how implanting a new lens would work? I mean it probably is correct just poorly described in the narrative.
Stealing the crimbo tree is up there with there with the famous footballer story line in corrie for being naff.
Oh ...thats not good.. I must say the representation of her vision also didnt match anything I know, but then unless you have it why would you know. But then Ive had the issue from birth so am used to it and compensate for it where as the likes of Dot are new to it.
I am one for sticking up for EastEnders and SOC but that epsidoe had more cheese than the deli at Sainsbury's, too much for me. In fact it was pretty awful if truth be told. Bar humbug. Glad there wasn't a duff duff though.
I wouldn't go as far as to say it was awful though it did make me cringe a few times. :D
I don't feel like it should be taken too seriously though. I may be very wrong and the whole of this year's EE Christmas will turn out to be sentimental tosh, but it all felt a bit tongue in cheek to me - as if SOC was poking fun at us viewers. :p
i wanna punch mick he is so grating on me
Well done Stacey, bex will never trust you again.
back to kathy beale, did i miss her divorce and remarry to dead pete
I still think Kathy's return has been a let down which is a shame as I liked the character and also Gillian the actress
Shakil looked liked a merry men from Robin Hood :D
The detective ( ex Hollyoaks Rick who played father of Gillian's character Sandy's twin boys) was quick to investigate a stolen Christmas tree maybe he should take over Max's wrongful imprisonment and subsequent cover up, perjury, blackmail, corruption and lies
I enjoyed tonight's episode. Linda was very funny tonight in the rehearsal scenes. I am going to miss Kelly Bright when she leaves. I like how they are having Denny fancying Louise. Martins's reaction to what happened to Bex was very natural. The only downside was Martin not knocking out that little git Shakil. I couldn't care less what Kathy calls herself. You are supposed to dead love. June Brown is just breaking my heart.
I thought Roxy's returned to be with Amy :searchme:
