Pop star Simpson 'has first baby'
Pop singer Ashlee Simpson has given birth to a baby boy, People magazine has reported.
Bronx Mowgli Wentz was born on Thursday night weighing 7lbs 11oz (3.5kg) and was 20.5 inches long.
"Ashlee, Pete and baby Bronx are all healthy and happy, and thank everyone for their well wishes!" a spokesperson told People.
It is the first child for the 24-year-old and her husband, Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz, who married in May.
The pair announced the singer's pregnancy a few weeks after their Alice In Wonderland-themed wedding at Simpson's family home in California.
"I would love to have a big family one day," Simpson told People at the time.
Wentz had dismissed rumours of the pregnancy as "crazy" a month earlier.
The couple have been together since 2006.

Glitter appeals against court order
Gary Glitter has launched an appeal against the court order that requires him to notify police if he intends to leave the country.
The convicted paedophile, real name Paul Gadd, was given the order after serving three years in a Vietnamese jail for sex crimes against two girls.
The current order does not prevent him from travelling abroad but requires that he inform police if he intends to stay away for more than three days.
In September, the singer was stopped by Kent police as he tried to leave the country.
He was previously placed on the sex offenders' register after being jailed in 1999 for possessing images of child abuse.
Angelina not pregnant again
Angelina Jolie has denied that she is pregnant again following American tabloid reports that she is expecting her seventh child. In Touch magazine, who broke the news that the actress was pregnant with twins earlier this year, said that Jolie announced her latest pregnancy to a waiter in a London restaurant when he tried to pour her an alcoholic drink. Despite this latest denial, the couple have made no secret that they would like to expand their family. "It's chaos in our house, but it's so much fun. We'll definitely have more," Angelina said earlier this month. SOURCE: DAILY MAIL
Bookmakers slash odds on Bruce Forsyth receiving a knighthood
The move follows a wave of bets on the 80-year-old television presenter, who has achieved renewed success on the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing, being named in the New Year Honours list.
Forsyth is now 2/1 odds-on favourite to be named a knight, down from 33/1 earlier this year. It is thought the current odds are the shortest ever price for a potential a knighthood.
William Hill has announced it will not take any more bets on Forsyth becoming Sir Bruce, reportedly fearing that insider information about the list, which will be published at the end of the month, could have led to large bets being placed.
Graham Sharpe, a spokesman for the bookmaker, told The Sun: "We fear some people in the know are trying to sting us. But if he gets the knighthood we will be first to say 'Didn't he do well?'"
David Williams, of Ladbrokes, told the newspaper: "A knighthood would be a rich reward for his incredible career, but the sight of Sir Brucie at Buckingham Palace would make us wince. Punters have been falling over themselves all weekend to back him. The industry could be facing a £1million payout."
A petition on the Downing Street website calling for the honour has attracted more than 5,000 names.

Jennifer Hudson's brother-in-law has been arrested in connection with the murder of the actress's mother, brother and nephew, reports say.

The bodies of Jennifer Hudson's mother, Darnell Hudson Donerson, and brother, Jason Hudson, were discovered on October 24 at the family's home on the South Side of Chicago. The body of Hudson's nephew, seven-year-old Julian King, was found three days later in a sport utility vehicle. All three had been shot.

Boy George guilty of false imprisonment
Boy George has been found guilty of falsely imprisoning a male escort.
The former Culture Club singer, tried under his real name George O'Dowd, was accused by Norwegian Auden Carlsen of handcuffing him in his London home and beating him with a chain.
O'Dowd, who denied one count of false imprisonment, said that Carlsen had hacked into his laptop and stolen photographs. He told police that he had handcuffed the escort to the bed while he investigated the laptop tampering.
Carlsen, 29, told Snaresbrook Crown Court that O'Dowd had fabricated the story about the laptop so that he could punish him for not having sex when they first met.
"I think he couldn't handle the refusal - me not having sex with him," he said.
O'Dowd did not give evidence during the trial. He will be sentenced on January 16.

Jolie hints at Pitt marriage
Angelina Jolie has sparked speculation that she may be about to marry partner Brad Pitt.
The couple have previously been reluctant to exchange vows, but Jolie has now said she may look to make Pitt her husband if it helps their future adoption plans.
"Brad and I aren't married, so as a technically single woman there are lots of countries I can't adopt from. And as a technically single man, most countries wouldn't allow Brad to adopt at all," Jolie told Now magazine.
Changeling star Jolie also revealed that there is some pressure on her and Pitt in balancing work with raising a family. She added: "Brad and I are trying to balance our lives so that we're there for our kids and can also make sure we're fulfilled as people."

Over 5,000 members voted the three-week-old son of Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson as having the worst male moniker of 2008.
The worst celebrity baby girl name of the year was awarded to Jagger Joseph Blue Goldberg, the nine-month-old daughter of Punk'd creator Jason Goldberg and former Punky Brewster star Soleil Moon Frye.
Other names to make the list included Sophocles Iraia Clement (Jermaine Clement and Miranda Manasiadis), Barnaby Borstein Douglas (Alex Borstein and Jackson Douglas) and Atalanta Baez (Carolina Herrera and Miguel Baez).

Ten Things You Never Knew About Peter Kay
Whether it's playing wheelchair-bound club owner Brian Potter or transsexual Irish warbler Geraldine McQueen, Peter Kay has been one of the most loved and successful comics of the last decade. With a bumper selection of mega-selling DVDs and a permanent fixture on the chatshow circuit, it wasn't surprising to hear that the Northerner recently beat Ricky Gervais and Frank Skinner to the title of the UK's favourite comedian. Read below to find out ten teasing facts about the standup.
1. Kay was born on July 2 in Bolton, Lancashire. His mum originates from County Tyrone, Northern Ireland.
2. Peter left Mount St. Joesph school with a single GCSE in Art and went on to work at a Netto supermarket, a cash and carry, a bingo hall and a toilet roll factory.
3. One of Peter's first standup gigs saw him triumphing over fellow Northern funnyman Johnny Vegas at the Northwest Comedian Of The Year in 1997. Coincidentally, the gig was hosted by his future Phoenix Nights co-star Dave Spikey.
4. Liam Gallagher is still angry with Kay for mocking the big white fur coat he wore at the NME Awards. According to brother Noel, the Oasis singer wouldn't stop swearing when someone played Kay's DVD on the band's tour bus.
5. Kay has had a more successful pop career than many musicians, working on four top ten singles. He could make it five if Geradline McQueen tops the charts with 'Once Upon A Christmas Song'.
6. Kay's favourite job as a youngster was working in a cinema. "I got to see all the movies for free, got free sweets and I told people endings of films as they were going in, like 'I didn't know Al Pacino was in Ghost'," he said.
7. Despite doing numerous promotions for John Smiths, Kay doesn't actually drink. The comic's father Mick died as a result of alcoholism in 1999, aged 59.
8. Kay's popularity with musicians means that he has ended up on stage at Live 8, Leeds Festival, V Festival, the Reebok Stadium with Elton John and at the MEN Arena with Queen.
9. The roly-poly funnyman is only 5ft 8in tall.
10. The comic's TV debut came on the 25-minute Granada film Two Minutes. The project co-starred Alexei Sayle and Hi-De-Hi!'s Paul Shane.
