"Really?" Jake said, the panic clear in his voice.
"Well, were you scared?" Chrissie asked.
"Yes of course I was bloody scared!" He yelled.
"Good. Now times how scared you were just then by about a million and you'll know how I felt when you wouldn't phone me." She shouted and stormed off upstairs.

Jake was in the kitchen. Why couldn't she understand? He pulled his mobile out of his pocket and listened to his voicemail. All of his messages were from Chrissie. He listened to each one not really paying attention until he got to the last one.
"Jake please phone me. I'm going out of my mind. I just don't know what to do. If you are alright and nothing's happened to you, then I want you to know how much I don't want you working. I mean we're having a baby, and I want you to be here with me more than anything. And if you're not ok then.." There was a long pause and Jake thought he could hear her crying.
"Then, I don't know what I'm gonna do without you. I just love you so much and I wouldn't be able to bear living a life without you. Just please phone me. I love you Jake. And I don't want to lose you."

He knelt beside the bed, next to Chrissie.
"I'm so sorry. I've been a prat." He whispered.
She opened her eyes.
"I never meant to hurt you." He said.
"It doesn't matter." She said, turning away.
"Yes it does." He paused. "I love you more than anything else in the world."
He stroked her cheek.
"I won't work anymore."
"Thankyou." She whispered.
He climbed on to the bed and took his jacket off. And they just slept there. He didn't get changed. He didn't even get under the quilt. He just wrapped his arms around her and slept there with her.

"I'm so so so sorry." Jake said, wrapping his arms around Chrissie's waist.
"For the forty-seventh time today, it's ok." She said, trying to unlock his arms from around her. "Can you let me go?"
"No. I just want to stay like this."
"Jake, I need to get dressed."
"Oh alright then, if I can watch." He said, a cheeky grin forming across his face.
"Jake. Out." She said.
"I need to get dressed too."
"No you don't. I just watched you get dressed." She laughed.
"Well then. It's only fair."
She pulled him close and kissed him passionately.
"Why don't we just have a day in here?" She purred, walking over to the bed.
"Well I suppose I have got some making up to do." He said, still smiling.
"Yes of course you have." She said, beckoning him over. "And you know your just going to have to get undressed now."
"Oh. What a shame, so are you."
He sat on the bed and pulled her on to his lap.
"You are amazing, do you know that?" He whispered.
Before she could answer, he kissed her. He kissed her like her lips were the way to salvation.
