Coronation Street star Sair Khan has teased a big new turn for her character Alya Nazir on the soap.
Alya has been at the centre of many notable storylines over the years, most recently brother Zeedan's money laundering plot.
Sair has now revealed that the soap is "taking things in a really different direction" for her character in an upcoming plotline *? though remained tight-lipped on specific details of what will occur.
"Well my dream storyline, actually, I think it might just be about to happen!" she told the Daily Star. "I had a chat with the producer last week and we're taking things in a really different direction.
"Something really unexpected happens and it changes Alya's perspective on everything, so it's a future that wasn't expected but I'm really excited about it."
Teasing things further, the actress noted that people have "demons", suggesting some secrets may be about to come to the fore for Alya.
What could we be about to learn?
"Everyone's got secrets, haven't they? Everyone's got a few demons in the closet," Sair continued.
"The great thing about our producer Iain [MacLeod] and his wife Verity [assistant producer at Coronation Street] is they love to speak to you about your character, they love hearing your ideas.
"I'm all for demons and darkness!"
Sair has played Alya on the ITV soap since 2014, and has also appeared on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, appearing on the 2018 series of the show.
Dee-Dee has taken notice of Alya's aptitude for the legal system and, in upcoming scenes, will offer her a job as a legal secretary.
The lawyer offers to train up Alya in the process.

Congratulations are in order for Coronation Street star Sair Khan, who has announced that she is expecting her first baby.
The Alya Nazir actress revealed the happy news on Instagram, saying that her pregnancy comes after a "challenging" year for herself and partner Nathan Chilton.
"Hello? It?s been a little while since posting on here which has been a real mix of emotions," the star explained on a reel of photos, which include Sair showing her growing baby bump.
"With all that is happening in the world, it didn?t feel like the right time to share, but we also know it?s okay to keep hope and pray for peace whilst acknowledging that we feel blessed and grateful.
"Last year was a challenging time for us both, with Nathan?s chondroblastoma surgery on his pelvis. It?s been a long road to recovery and still has many obstacles ahead as we deal with the spread of the tumour to his lungs."
The actress continued: "Life can be difficult and there?ll always be challenges to face but there are also important lessons to be learnt and gifts to be cherished.
"We?re so excited for the arrival of Baby Chilton in spring 2024."
Sair has since received many congratulations in the comments, with fellow Corrie actor Adam Hussain (Aadi Alahan) writing: "Congratulations, you beautiful couple!"
Former show star Catherine Tyldesley (Eva Price) added: "Oh my love!!!! This is the best news. Congratulations guys", while Kym Marsh (Michelle Connor) said: "Oh this is beautiful news. Sending you both lots of love xxx".
Back in 2020, Sair was hilariously forced to deny that she was pregnant after posting a photo of herself cradling her stomach.
"OMG I'M NOT PREGNANT!!" she clarified at the time. "That was a terrible choice of picture to post. It was just a food baby but I thought I looked cute."
Sair further quipped: "Genuinely not [pregnant]. I just really enjoyed my fish and chips at lunch."
So, a quick relationship going to be introduced or will we see lots of shots with big coats and handbags in front of her?? :hmm:
will alya get pregnant, the actress pregnancy written in, one night with adam or back with ryan?
You can clearly see that she is fairly advanced in her pregnancy so will Ryan's return be part of her exit storyline to cover her maternity leave ???
Sair Khan has announced the birth of her child.
The actor, who has played Alya Nazir in Corrie since 2014, shared the wonderful news of her son's arrival on Instagram on Wednesday (May 9).

Coronation Street star Sair Khan has confirmed she's back at work after giving birth.
The actor, who plays Alya Nazir on the ITV soap, announced the birth of her baby boy in May, shortly after her temporary exit from Corrie aired as she began her break for maternity leave.
Taking to her Instagram Stories this week, Khan shared a photo of a script along with the caption "I am Backstreet", confirming that she is now back from maternity leave and officially returned to filming.
For her temporary exit from the soap, Khan's character Alya left Weatherfield to take a job in Dublin, though soap bosses hinted at revisiting the character's romantic spark with Adam Barlow when she returned.
In June, Khan shared an update with fans on her parenthood journey, saying she found the first few weeks "tough but beautiful".
"Navigating the ups and downs of the postnatal period with each day and night rolling into the next and countless challenges with latching and feeding," she wrote on Instagram.
The soap star continued: "With feeds keeping us busy around the clock, it?s been so easy for me to stay home for days on end, working my way through every season of Suits as that?s all my brain and body can manage.
"Gentle nudges from Nathan about getting fresh air hadn?t really worked, and the idea of using a spare half hour to catch up on sleep still win every time, but ultimately the promise of cake and baby appointments have been the only way to get me out of the house lately.
"I thought I?d be back to regular life straight after birth but the reality has been very different, so just taking it step by step and trying not to feel guilty!" she concluded.
Sorry parkerman, I know you have a soft spot for her but I have not missed her one little bit......

Coronation Street will introduce some big changes for Alya Nazir next week, as she returns to the cobbles following her time in Dublin.
Alya left Weatherfield in May to take a job in Ireland while actor Sair Khan was on maternity leave, but she will be back home next week.
Yasmeen Metcalfe is delighted to have her granddaughter back on the cobbles and is proud to find out that she is now shadowing a criminal solicitor, having been advancing her legal career over the past few months.
Alya's new role quickly takes a dramatic turn when Mason Radcliffe's troublesome brother, Matty, is brought into the police station for questioning over the attack on Carla Connor at the factory.
However, Alya is representing Matty and is on hand to corroborate his alibi. Could Alya's new job cause tensions between her and her neighbours?
Sair Khan, who returned to filming in September following the birth of her baby boy in May, has spoken about Alya's "unexpected" return, teasing that "where we find her is not where you expect her to be".
"That throws a spanner in the works at the very beginning," she added. "Dee-Dee is one of her best friends, so she will know what has been going on, but where Alya finds herself is in a very compromised situation of her own when she gets back."
Khan also confirmed that we will be seeing a new side to Alya following her time away, revealing that her character has "definitely had a complete revamp".
"I think getting away from the Street, really focusing on her career and where she wants to be, has ignited a new spark in her," she said. "She's changed lanes a little bit in terms of her work and what she wants to do, but she's putting her heart and soul and all of her passion into making her career a success and learning."
The actor added that Alya now has "a bit more money" and a "more elevated" fashion sense and has also "taken time out for herself".
"I think she's taken the opportunity to be a bit selfish, and I quite like that for her," she said.
Khan added that she "felt like I'd never been away" after returning to work from her maternity leave.
"It's just been nice to catch up with everyone and see how everyone's been getting on, and hearing about all the storylines that they've been involved in," she said.
Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday, November 25, and Wednesday, November 27.
