Minogue proud of 'X Factor' performance
Dannii Minogue has insisted that she is proud of her performance as a mentor on The X Factor this year.
The Aussie popstar guided Leon Jackson and Rhydian Roberts to the top two spots on last year's series, but she became the first judge to lose all three of her acts as Ruth Lorenzo was eliminated last night.
Speaking afterwards on The Xtra Factor, Minogue revealed that keeping the Over 25s category intact until week six of the competition had been a record for the show.
She explained: "It wasn't a bad run. It's the longest the Over 25s have stayed in the competition."
Minogue was also backed by her co-stars Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell, who praised her for helping Lorenzo to exceed expectations on the programme.
Walsh told show host Holly Willoughby: "Don't give her a hard time. She worked so hard with Ruth."
Cowell added: "I've got to say, I think Dannii did a great job with Ruth and vice versa. I wasn't expecting her to stay this long at the beginning. But she proved that she's a really, really great singer [and] a great performer. We're going to miss her, really."
Minogue lost Daniel Evans in week six of the competition and saw Rachel Hylton being sent home last weekend.
Lorenzo backs Burke for 'X Factor' win
Ruth Lorenzo has revealed that she is backing Alexandra Burke to win The X Factor following her own departure from the show.
The Spanish singer was voted off last night after picking up the lowest number of viewer votes in the latest live round.
Speaking on The Xtra Factor, Burke described Lorenzo as her "best friend" and admitted that she was devastated to see her leaving.
Discussing their friendship later, Lorenzo confirmed: "I'm moving in with this one. She's going to win, even though I love you all."
She then joked: "And I'm not going to pay rent!"
Lorenzo also insisted that there was "no way" she had been eliminated from the ITV1 talent show before her time.
Her mentor Dannii Minogue added: "Since the first show, every show she came and said to me: 'I'm going tonight'. It just shows how humble she is about her talent. It's been a big challenge to come to the country and do the competition."
Burke, Eoghan Quigg, Diana Vickers and boyband JLS will now compete in the show's semi-final next weekend.
Louis Walsh: 'My job is not safe'
Louis Walsh reportedly believes that his job on The X Factor is under threat.
The 56-year-old is said to fear that his row with Dannii Minogue last week could result in his dismissal at the end of the series.
"He wouldn't be surprised if Dannii stays and he goes. He's sure it's got to be one of them," a source told The Mirror.
"Louis is worried about next year. He denies he bullied Dannii, but admits they'll never be able to get on."
The insider added: "He knows that Simon [Cowell] and Cheryl [Cole] are the only two whose seats on the panel are assured. He is well aware the rest are indispensable."
Walsh's final act JLS made it through to the semi-final on last night's show, while Minogue's last singer Ruth Lorenzo was voted off by the public.
Noooo, he can't go, he must stay. I like him
