Emmerdale's Chas Dingle has another big crisis to deal with in the coming days as she is targeted by a mystery stalker.

Chas's ordeal begins with a sudden burst of silent phone calls, but the situation soon gets far worse and leaves her utterly terrified…

Here, Lucy Pargeter - who plays Chas - reveals the full details of the storyline.

How does Chas feel now that she's a free woman again?
"It's mixed emotions, really. Chas is ecstatic to be in the clear, but she still thinks that she was responsible, so the guilt and the hurt haven't gone away. She's also scared to be back in the village because of the repercussions of everything that's happened.

"As she works in The Woolpack, she's at the focal point of the village and of course she's going to have to face everybody and go through all kinds of different emotions. She's got a lot of catching up to do!"

Chas also ends up alone as Cameron heads off to Jersey, doesn't he?
"Yeah, Chas wants to go with him, but she doesn't because of Bernice. There's an onslaught from Bernice and she says that Chas really ought to leave, as nobody wants her around. So Chas decides to stay around to protect and hold onto her territory!"

Does Chas not have any inkling that something isn't right with Cameron after his latest murder?
"Not really. Chas can see that Cameron is a bit upset, but he tells her that it's because his son is ill and he needs to get to Jersey. Having been through everything with Aaron, Chas encourages him to go. She can see that he's a bit uptight about something, but she has no idea what he's actually done!"

Bernice is quick to blame Chas for punters avoiding the pub and the takings being down. Does she have a point?
"Bernice does have a point, but it's after Christmas and I think most places go through a lull at that time anyway. But Chas does start to think that it's got something to do with her. Chas and Bernice are at each other's throats, and it's also likely to kick off whenever the Dingles are at the pub, so people are avoiding those situations."

Is Chas tempted when Bernice keeps encouraging her to sell her share of the pub?
"She is tempted because things get so bad, and she starts getting these prank calls too. Chas has no idea where they're from and she starts to feel uneasy. She feels that if she did sell up and go, it'd be a lot easier for her family and she wouldn't have to deal with everybody. But then she thinks otherwise because the pub is one of the only things she has left."

Can you tell us more about the stalking?
"It begins with the first prank call in The Woolpack. Chas is working and somebody calls, but there's nobody there. Then it happens again and Jimmy is there, and he suggests that she should try 1471, but it's a withheld number.

"Then Chas gets even more calls, and she also senses that people might be watching her, especially when she goes to Carl's grave with Jimmy. There are also stones thrown at her window, and at one point she goes outside and there's a photograph of her and Carl which has been left for her…"

Is Chas being paranoid or is someone really watching her?
"She's not paranoid! There is genuinely someone watching her."
Does Chas have any suspicions over who the stalker might be?
"She starts to think that it could be Bernice, because she wants the pub. Then she thinks it's Cain or Debbie. After that, she gets another photograph delivered at The Woolpack with her eyes scratched out. She also gets a call from someone playing Carl's answering machine message, which is very creepy.

"Chas is already on edge because of everything that's happened, and the thought that someone is targeting her makes it even worse. It's the not knowing which is the worst thing. It could be the Dingles, it could be someone else, it could be anybody and that's what's the most unnerving thing."

What happens when Chas accuses Cain of being the stalker?
"He denies it point blank, but he says, 'I'd like to know who it is, so I could congratulate them!' So it's not nice that he's supporting what's happening. Chas suggests to him that maybe it's Debbie, but he tells her it's not as she's too busy with Sarah."

How frightened is Chas over the stalker's antics?
"I think she's most frightened when there's a bottle thrown at her and it cuts her face. If they're willing to throw something at her, it's a bit more than just threatening behaviour!"

Chas eventually manages to catch out the stalker. How does she feel about his or her identity?
"It is a shock, but there is a reason behind it and she fully understands why they did it. When she finds out who it is, it's yet another thing for her to deal with…"

Emmerdale pub landlady Chas Dingle faces a terrifying ordeal next week as her niece Debbie holds her at gunpoint and threatens to pull the trigger.

Chas is horrified as she finds herself at the mercy of a crazed Debbie (Charley Webb), who is still hell-bent on revenge after her aunt's affair with Cameron Murray.

Here, Lucy Pargeter - who plays Chas - reveals how her character copes in the frightening situation.

Does Chas still feel guilty about her relationship with Cameron after all this time?
"Chas feels guilty about what happened because of the repercussions with Debbie, Sarah and the rest of the Dingle family. However, the guilt about being with Cameron has gone, because they're now quite a solid couple who are dealing with the issues in the village.

"Chas does feel a bit guilty about the fallout of everything. But so much time has passed, so Chas is now getting to the point where she thinks, 'Come on guys - enough is enough'."

This new twist for Chas and Debbie proves that it's far from over! Would Chas ever have imagined that Debbie would want to kill her?
"I think Chas feels that if Debbie was going to do anything, she would have done it by now. However, the situation does start upping a gear, and the threats from Debbie are happening again.

"But Chas is Chas - she thinks Debbie can give a good bit of verbal, but if she were to take her on physically, I'd put money on Chas! I certainly don't think Chas thinks Debbie would go so far as to kill her."


As next week's episodes begin, Debbie lures Chas into a false sense of security by being nice to her. Is Chas suspicious?
"Yeah, Chas is suspicious over the reasons behind Debbie's change in attitude. It was only the week before that Debbie was still causing trouble and giving her dirty looks in The Woolpack. She's also got a little lapdog now in Robbie.

"When Debbie says, 'Let's be friends and sort this out', Chas wonders what's going on, but she is willing to give it a go. Chas is very much on the back foot, though!"

What goes through Chas's mind when they're on their way to a Dingle family meal and Debbie suddenly produces a gun?
"Chas thinks that Debbie has completely lost the plot, basically! It's definitely taking a bit of a turn!

"At first, Chas thinks that Debbie isn't going to use the gun, because she's never been into firearms or gone down a dark route before. She thinks Debbie is just going to scare her, give her a good talking to and leave her in the middle of nowhere to think about what she's done."


As Debbie is holding her captive in an abandoned barn, does Chas's take on the situation change?
"Yes, eventually Chas does think that she's going to die, because Debbie is very, very close to pulling the trigger. Chas can see the look in Debbie's eye and she's completely devoid of any emotion, any family ties or any love for Chas at all. She seems very likely to pull the trigger."

It's Cain and Charity who realise what Debbie is up to and try to stop her. How do those two feel about Chas at the moment?
"Charity is still very much on Debbie's side. With Cain, he's mellowed and they're talking a little bit, but he'd still choose his daughter over his sister any day. They do both turn up and things go, in Chas's eyes, from bad to worse…"

What was your reaction to the story taking such a dramatic twist?
"I think it had to come to an end. This won't necessarily be the absolute end of it, but it had to come to a massive crescendo to really give it justice."

Do you think there's even a slight possibility that Chas and Debbie could get their friendship back?
"I don't know if they ever will get it back. Personally, I don't know if I ever could forgive someone fully for doing that to me. Hopefully things can lead to a bit more normality.

"I don't think they'll ever have the same aunty-niece relationship. However, the Dingles have always got some sort of bother between them, but they're family and that's what pulls them through.

Emmerdale's Chas Dingle has more tough times ahead in the next fortnight as she realises that Cameron Murray's behaviour is becoming increasingly strange.

Killer Cameron (Dominic Power) is secretly in turmoil as he knows that Alex Moss's body is in danger of being uncovered due to a planned development on the land where he is buried.

With no idea of what her partner is going through, Chas fears that Cameron might be having an affair - but he soon has another cover story up his sleeve…

Here, Lucy Pargeter - who plays Chas - teases the twists and turns ahead as her feisty character attempts to get to the bottom of things.

How is Chas feeling about Cameron at the moment?
"Chas is still completely in love with Cameron, but he starts to behave quite strangely out of the blue. He starts disappearing, doesn't come back when he says he will, he's short with her and he's just not his usual self. Chas does totally trust Cameron at this point in time, but she does think it's a bit strange that he's being so moody."

So Chas doesn't suspect that Cameron is having an affair at first?
"No, not initially! She doesn't think Cameron is having an affair until Gennie comes up with the idea that he might be!"

Chas starts following Cameron to get answers. What is she expecting to discover?
"Chas is quite worried about what she might discover. Cameron packs her off to a spa for the night with Gennie, and the last time he made sure someone was out of the area, it was when he sent Debbie off to Paris so that he could be with Chas for a little while.

"Just as Chas and Gennie are about to leave for the spa, they see Cameron heading off in his van. Chas thinks that's a bit weird, because he's supposed to be looking after the pub."

Chas and Gennie follow Cameron


Chas doesn't see anything suspicious, but a few days later, Cameron starts threatening to leave the village. How does Chas react?
"Chas's initial thought is that it's because she's starting to doubt him and pressure him. Cameron tells her that he knows she was following him. When Cameron threatens to leave, Chas thinks that she's pushed him too far. She has no idea that it's because of his worry over Alex."

Cameron then sits Chas down and warns that he's about to tell her something important - but then Gennie walks in and interrupts! Was Cameron about to confess all?
"I think Cameron is preparing himself to possibly tell Chas what's been going on. The appearance of Gennie completely scuppers that, and they end up having a bit of an argument. Cameron loses the plot again, so Chas ends up staying at Gennie's house.

"When Chas gets back in the morning, she questions Cameron and says that she knows he was going to tell her something big. However, Cameron completely clams up again and denies it."

Cameron is aggressive towards Chas and Gennie


Later, Cameron threatens Gennie for her interference in his relationship, but Gennie soon tells Chas about the encounter. Does Chas believe Gennie?
"Well, for Chas this all comes quite out of the blue. By this point, Cameron has come up with a cover story and told Chas that he has depression, so she just puts it down to that.

"Chas is surprised to hear that Cameron has depression, but I don't think she doubts him. She's just looking for anything but the bad explanation for Cameron's behaviour. Compared to him having an affair, depression is a lot easier for her to deal with."

The viewers are probably going to be shouting at the TV over Chas being in the dark!
"Jeepers, they already are! Chas is being very blinkered, bless her! She even approaches Zak and asks him to speak to Cameron, as he's had depression recently too. Chas knows that she isn't naturally good at dealing with things like this, so she naturally calls Zak in so he can have a man-to-man chat with Cameron."

Cameron shows Gennie a menacing side


As the week continues, Cameron apologises to Gennie for threatening her, and even vows to make amends by organising a fundraiser in aid of Brenda's hospital. Does Chas think this is a bit strange?
"Well, Chas has had so much going through her mind - first of all the thought that Cameron could be having an affair, and then Gennie saying that he's threatened her.

"When Cameron comes up with the fundraising idea, the blinkers come back on for Chas and she's pleased that Cameron is being nice. She just wants to believe him as much as possible, rather than having to face the fact he's doing something behind her back."

The truth about the murders has to come out at some point, so how would Chas cope with that?
"It's mammoth - Cameron is a killer, he's been deceptive and he's let her take the blame for what happened to Carl. It's massive and I don't know how she's going to deal with it. Let's just see what the writers come up with!"

Do you think there's a danger of Cameron killing Chas?
"Yeah, I think there's definitely the possibility there of Cameron killing Chas. He's capable of killing anyone!"

Have you had much viewer response to this storyline?
"It's been fantastic. People are shouting at their tellies and they're shouting at me, telling me not to trust Cameron! It seems that they're all on Chas's side at the moment."

Lucy Pargeter has teased that producers are planning a huge storyline that will air around the show's anniversary in October.

Pargeter, who plays Chas Dingle, revealed that it will be as big as last year's live episode which earned them a prize at the British Soap Awards over the weekend.

Speaking to the Daily Star, she said: "There's going to be more complications, more heartache, more trauma – it's a brilliant summer coming up.

"And I know there's something massive coming around our anniversary time in October as well. We have to follow up with last year with something as big this year."

Viewers will know that Pargeter's character Chas is currently unaware that she's dating a murderer.

Cameron Murray (Dominic Power) has already claimed two victims and he is rumoured to kill a third later on this year.

So Cameron's storyline will run until nearly Christmas this year, damn

Emmerdale star Lucy Pargeter has spoken to Digital Spy about the heartbreak ahead for her character Chas Dingle.

Chas is in for a nasty shock in upcoming episodes as her fiancé Cameron Murray (Dominic Power) has decided that he wants to be with his ex-partner Debbie (Charley Webb) rather than her.

Cameron and Debbie will both be distracted by the aftermath of Gennie's death in the immediate future, but it's only a matter of time before Chas discovers that they are back together.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Pargeter explained: "She's going to be gutted, absolutely gutted, but you know what? It's tit for tat. It's even stevens. She did it to Debbie, what leg has she got to stand on?"

Hinting that Chas may have to back down, she added: "How far can she take it without going, 'Enough is enough - fine, you have him'?"

The actress told us that she knows the ultimate outcome of the storyline, which is expected to run until at least October.

Chas learns the truth at the funeral of her half-sister Gennie, and is later stunned as Cameron (Dominic Power) declares that he never really loved her.

Here, Lucy Pargeter - who plays Chas - reveals how her character will react to the shocking news.

How is Chas feeling in the wake of Gennie's death? Does she have any suspicions over Cameron yet?
"Chas is absolutely devastated by what's happened. She also feels quite guilty because of the argument she had with Gennie before her death.

"Chas is now so consumed with her grief for Gennie that she still doesn't think anything untoward is going on with Cameron. He's acting weird, but Chas thinks it's just because he still has depression. There's absolutely nothing for Chas to be suspicious about, given the information that she's got at the moment."

Next week is when Chas does start to become suspicious. What starts that off?
"Well, first of all Brenda goes missing on the morning of Gennie's funeral and Chas decides to go looking for her. Cameron is determined to stay there in the pub, which Chas thinks is a bit weird. Once they find Brenda and they're walking back up to The Woolpack, Chas thinks that she sees Cameron at Debbie's house, which is bizarre, because why would he be there?

"When Chas later asks Cameron about this, he blatantly brushes over it and says that he was in the pub cellar. Gennie's words of warning about Cameron start to ring in Chas's ears. It's very quick, but all of a sudden, Chas knows the truth!"

Chas confronts Cameron in the middle of Gennie's funeral, doesn't she?
"Yes, she does. She quietly asks Cameron whether he really loves her and he says yes. However, then Chas says, 'Do you say that to Debbie? And would that be before or after you've slept with her?' He then admits that it's been going on for a few weeks, so Chas is absolutely fuming and devastated."

Given that she's in the middle of attending a funeral, how does Chas react?
"Chas does have to give a eulogy for Gennie, so she wants to do that and then deal with Cameron later. She stands up and starts to talk about Gennie, but then the speech moves on, and it looks like she's about to expose both Cameron and Debbie.

"However, Chas does then remember why she is there. She sees confusion on Nikhil and Brenda's faces, so she pulls herself together and finishes off the eulogy. Afterwards, she runs out of the church because she can't keep her mouth shut."

Is this the end for Chas and Cameron?
"Yes, I think it is. It's a strange one, as it's payback for Chas. She did it to Debbie, and now Debbie has done it to her. Chas thought she was going to be happily married with Cameron, so it is the ultimate betrayal. At the same time, she's not surprised that he did it to her, as he did it to Debbie and he also did it to his wife before that."

Does Chas want to get revenge against Cameron?
"Chas is absolutely furious with him and she does lash out at him. She shouts and screams at both Cameron and Debbie. But afterwards, she tells Debbie that she doesn't want to fight with her anymore or hurt her, as it's tit for tat. Chas doesn't want Debbie to be part of her life, but she's got more to deal with at the moment."

How does Cain find out?
"Cain gathers at the funeral that something must be going on, and then he asks Chas at the pub what Cameron has done. Chas replies, 'He's done Debbie!', so that's how Cain finds out!"

Cain later takes Cameron to a quarry and prepares to kill him… Would Chas like to see Cameron dead?
"I think Chas couldn't care less what happens to Cameron, but she is worried about Cain getting into trouble for killing him. Chas has told Cain that it'd be better if Cameron wasn't around anymore, so she's kind of given him the go-ahead to do it. She's gobsmacked that Cain has taken her to her word!

"Chas is worried for both Cain and Cameron. If Cameron accidentally tripped over a cliff, Chas would deal with it, but she would be worried if Cain was involved."

Where does Chas go from here?

Emmerdale's Chas Dingle faces fresh heartbreak next week as she discovers that her fiancé Cameron Murray has been sleeping with his ex Debbie.

Chas learns the truth at the funeral of her half-sister Gennie, and is later stunned as Cameron (Dominic Power) declares that he never really loved her.

Here, Lucy Pargeter - who plays Chas - reveals how her character will react to the shocking news.

How is Chas feeling in the wake of Gennie's death? Does she have any suspicions over Cameron yet?
"Chas is absolutely devastated by what's happened. She also feels quite guilty because of the argument she had with Gennie before her death.

"Chas is now so consumed with her grief for Gennie that she still doesn't think anything untoward is going on with Cameron. He's acting weird, but Chas thinks it's just because he still has depression. There's absolutely nothing for Chas to be suspicious about, given the information that she's got at the moment."

Next week is when Chas does start to become suspicious. What starts that off?
"Well, first of all Brenda goes missing on the morning of Gennie's funeral and Chas decides to go looking for her. Cameron is determined to stay there in the pub, which Chas thinks is a bit weird. Once they find Brenda and they're walking back up to The Woolpack, Chas thinks that she sees Cameron at Debbie's house, which is bizarre, because why would he be there?

"When Chas later asks Cameron about this, he blatantly brushes over it and says that he was in the pub cellar. Gennie's words of warning about Cameron start to ring in Chas's ears. It's very quick, but all of a sudden, Chas knows the truth!"

Chas confronts Cameron in the middle of Gennie's funeral, doesn't she?
"Yes, she does. She quietly asks Cameron whether he really loves her and he says yes. However, then Chas says, 'Do you say that to Debbie? And would that be before or after you've slept with her?' He then admits that it's been going on for a few weeks, so Chas is absolutely fuming and devastated."

Given that she's in the middle of attending a funeral, how does Chas react?
"Chas does have to give a eulogy for Gennie, so she wants to do that and then deal with Cameron later. She stands up and starts to talk about Gennie, but then the speech moves on, and it looks like she's about to expose both Cameron and Debbie.

"However, Chas does then remember why she is there. She sees confusion on Nikhil and Brenda's faces, so she pulls herself together and finishes off the eulogy. Afterwards, she runs out of the church because she can't keep her mouth shut."

Is this the end for Chas and Cameron?
"Yes, I think it is. It's a strange one, as it's payback for Chas. She did it to Debbie, and now Debbie has done it to her. Chas thought she was going to be happily married with Cameron, so it is the ultimate betrayal. At the same time, she's not surprised that he did it to her, as he did it to Debbie and he also did it to his wife before that."

Does Chas want to get revenge against Cameron?
"Chas is absolutely furious with him and she does lash out at him. She shouts and screams at both Cameron and Debbie. But afterwards, she tells Debbie that she doesn't want to fight with her anymore or hurt her, as it's tit for tat. Chas doesn't want Debbie to be part of her life, but she's got more to deal with at the moment."

How does Cain find out?
"Cain gathers at the funeral that something must be going on, and then he asks Chas at the pub what Cameron has done. Chas replies, 'He's done Debbie!', so that's how Cain finds out!"

Cain later takes Cameron to a quarry and prepares to kill him… Would Chas like to see Cameron dead?
"I think Chas couldn't care less what happens to Cameron, but she is worried about Cain getting into trouble for killing him. Chas has told Cain that it'd be better if Cameron wasn't around anymore, so she's kind of given him the go-ahead to do it. She's gobsmacked that Cain has taken her to her word!

"Chas is worried for both Cain and Cameron. If Cameron accidentally tripped over a cliff, Chas would deal with it, but she would be worried if Cain was involved."

Where does Chas go from here?

Emmerdale airs another must-see moment next week as Chas and Debbie Dingle finally discover exactly what Cameron Murray is capable of.

Debbie (Charley Webb) is devastated when she gets her hands on Gennie Sharma's Dictaphone and hears a damning audio file which reveals that she was killed by Cameron.

When a distraught Debbie turns to Chas for help, they head straight to the police to report Cameron - but the dramas involving the serial killer aren't over yet…

Here, Lucy Pargeter - who plays Chas - reveals her character's reaction to the shocking developments.

How would you say Chas has been coping since Gennie's death?
"It's been hard for her. Not only has she had that to deal with, she's now got the fact that Cameron is with Debbie. So she's been betrayed by Cameron, she's been betrayed by Debbie and she's lost her sister so it's been pretty horrendous for her, to be quite honest with you."

Does Chas miss Cameron?
"Yeah, I think she does, but there's also hatred of him and for him. It's kind of explained a lot of things for her, but it's also brought on sadness because Gennie knew. Gennie knew everything and Chas has got massive regret for not making it up with her sister and believing her sister because she was right about him."

What are Chas's feelings towards Debbie at this point?
"Chas is very angry with Debbie and she is furious, but she's also kind of like, 'Tit for tat, I've done it to you, you've done it to me, I'm not going to come revengeful like you did by taking me hostage at gunpoint'. There's just no point and she's like, 'Okay, you're welcome to him'. But I think she's really, really hurt."

Next week, Debbie plays Gennie's Dictaphone recording which reveals that Cameron killed her, not the car crash. How does Chas react when Debbie comes over and says they need to talk?
"At first, Chas has got no idea about the Dictaphone - she's got no idea about anything. When Debbie says she needs to talk, Chas says, 'No, not now, haven't got time for you, couldn't give less of a care for you'. Then Debbie says, 'You couldn't care more about this thing ever', so she lets her in. Chas is quite prepared to just stand there, let Debbie say her piece and properly chuck her out again, but that's not what happens."

How does Chas feel when Debbie starts to show her this Dictaphone and what's on it?
"Chas's reaction is that it's not what Debbie says it is. Debbie is saying it's proof that Gennie was alive after the crash, but you don't automatically think, 'Yeah that's right, he killed her'. Chas looks for another explanation like Gennie was probably in pain, she was saying 'Don't move me, don't touch me, please don't hurt me any more than you have to'.

"It's not until Debbie brings up the fact that Cameron killed Carl that Chas starts to believe everything that Debbie's saying."

What is Chas's reaction when she realises that she didn't kill Carl? She's thought for nearly a year that she has.
"Yeah there is that, but then I think what takes over is that she doesn't know when Debbie found out. Chas thinks Debbie found out the night that he did it and she's been keeping it from her ever since. So she starts to think, 'How long have you known, Debbie? You let me go to prison'. She starts picking on Debbie and thinking that Debbie's known all along.

"Eventually she goes, 'Okay, I believe you, but how can you let me go through this? This is even more of a betrayal that you've kept it. You were protecting him and you knew he was a murderer. You know now he killed Gennie and you're still protecting him. We're going to have to do something about this. You've got no choice about it - we're going to the police'."

Unfortunately, the police say there's still not enough evidence against Cameron, so Debbie will need to have cameras in her house while she tries to get a confession. Does Chas think that's a good idea, given the danger involved?
"Yeah, Chas is all for it. If Debbie's in danger, then she's in danger. What she's kept from her and what Cameron's done is far more important. Debbie has betrayed her far too much, so basically Chas is prepared to let Debbie do whatever she has to do to get this out and to get a confession, because she's deleted the confession from the Dictaphone."

What are her feelings for Debbie at this point? Is she still angry with her or do they move on from that now?
"No, Chas is still furious with Debbie. They're not friends and I don't think they'll be friends for an awful long time. Debbie has kept something from her - a really important thing as Chas thought she'd killed Carl, and Debbie knew for however long that she hadn't done it and she could've put her out of her misery sooner."

Does Chas have any strong feelings on how Cameron should be dealt with?
"I think as Chas now knows he's a killer, she'd be more wary about how she dealt with it. The Carl thing is bad enough and to let her go to prison, but to kill her sister… if she had a gun in her hands she'd probably blow his brains out. She's determined to get in court and for him to see justice, really."

So Chas and Debbie aren't some sort of crack team together on this?
"No, Debbie has no choice. Chas is like, 'You're doing it. I don't care - you are doing it'. They're still rowing and there's no kind of camaraderie. So it would've been better if they were thick as thieves, but they're not!"

Are either of them scared of the consequences?
"I think Debbie is. I think she's scared about Jack and Sarah, and she's scared that it's come to this. She realises that she's actually going to lose him and she's going to have to try to frame him and get him to confess. So I think it's harder for Debbie because I think she thought she'd got a whole kind of family unit back and the love of her life, but no, Chas and Debbie are not going to see eye to eye over this."

Does Chas feel foolish for not realising what sort of man Cameron was?
"No, there's no kind of, 'Oh gosh, what a fool I've been'. I don't think anybody could see a serial killer if they were going out with them. All the clues were there, but you don't think that, do you?"

Does Chas want revenge on Cameron?
"I think revenge to her would be seeing him go down and to be punished. I think death or anything that she could do, or Cain could do, would be far too quick. She wants him to be seen as the person that he is by Brenda, by the village, by Debbie, by her family, by everybody and to get her name cleared as well."

Do you think there's any chance that Chas and Debbie can unite again, or is that a bit of a way off?
"A bit of a way off. I think the Gennie thing is going to stay around for a long time because even though she knew that Cameron was a murderer, she said she wanted to be with him and she had the choice to get in that car and to chase Gennie.

"Whether Cameron killed Gennie or not, Debbie was still in the car that chased her and kind of led to her death by having the crash as well. So I think there's an awful lot to forgive there. I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon."

Are you excited about what's in the pipeline?
"If I knew what the pipeline was then I'd be very excited, but we still don't know about the pipeline very much! But yes, what I hear in rumours I'm very excited about."

"But then Sarah goes missing, which is a bit sinister and worrying. The police tell her not to go outside. Then halfway through Priya's hen do, she has a thought and says, 'I'm putting the pub in lockdown. There's no way I'm having him drop in, so let's just make sure that we're safe'."

How worried is Chas when she hears that Sarah has gone missing?
"It is concerning for Chas that Sarah has gone missing and she ultimately thinks Cameron might have something to do with it, but her main concern is why Cameron has escaped prison."

Are there police around?
"Although there is a policeman positioned outside the front of the pub, there are no armed guards or anything. So Chas takes it upon herself to bolt the front door, bolt the back door, and bolt up the cellar so she thinks there is no way anyone can get in anywhere."

At this point, the residents are also experiencing the worst weather the village has seen in a long time.
"Exactly, so why would anybody want to go outside anyway? So Chas is bolting everyone in the pub, and says, 'That's it, we're having a lockdown, it's nasty out there, let's just all be safe and have a lock-in in the pub'. Who wants to be out in such an horrendous storm anyway?!"

"Chas goes to check on the cellar and it is starting to fill up with water. She bolts the cellar doors and comes upstairs and Marlon is there and gives her a fright. Then she goes through to The Woolpack, and Debbie's basically saying, 'I'm getting out, I'm gonna find Sarah'.

"Chas tries to stop her and all of a sudden Cameron appears with a gun. They are locked in, there is no way out, and they have no idea how he's got in in the first place. That is it, they are trapped. There are police outside but there is nowhere to go. Cameron's in the pub looking menacing and Chas is petrified. It is Priya's hen party so there's a lot of people in The Woolpack. It's very frightening for them all."

Is the atmosphere fraught?
"It is very fraught. Everyone knows what Cameron has done, and everyone knows he has escaped and he has a gun, but some people might think he is there purely for Debbie and Chas."

What is his behaviour like?
"At this point Cameron is quite calm with the situation, but that makes it sinister. He very clearly says he has taken care of the police. He's very clear that he wants Debbie to go with him. It's clear, concise - that's his goal, that's what he wants. He's come for Debbie."

But Chas makes a move, doesn't she?
"Yes, she tries to distract him, whack him with a chair, basically. She tries to get the gun off him, as do many people who try to talk him down with the gun."

The floodwaters in the cellar have been rising, so the production team built a set at Pinewood Studios with a tank for the underwater scenes. Can you tell us a bit about that?
"We went to Pinewood and used their underwater stage and built the largest and heaviest set they've ever constructed. The stage has seen everything from Bond to Dark Shadows, but ours was the largest set that has been built on that stage. We recreated the cellar on a massive scale and hovered it above the tank. Instead of the water rising, day-by-day we lowered the set into the tank."

Was it memorable?
"I will remember that week we filmed at Pinewood forever for various different reasons. Firstly, the chance to work at Pinewood, and the chance to work with Mike Valentine, who has shot everything you can think of. He was the number one underwater cameraman for all the Bond films.

"But also for seeing all our crew in their swimming kit! We had a laugh about how strange it all was to be wading around in water for a week, to learning a new skill from the amazing team of divers we had there. In fact, I have decided I want to learn how to scuba dive properly. It was thrilling, exciting, scary and even claustrophobic, but you felt safe at all times.

"We had divers everywhere making sure we were alright. The costume department gave us hot water bottles and towels because we had to keep getting out of the water. Everyone pulled together and it was just the most amazing week."

How will this compare to last year's live episode?
"In a way, it is bigger. The live was just such a manic thing. This may look bigger to an audience, but it is always hard to know how big stunts look to an audience. They feel completely different to how they come across on camera. I hope this one comes across exactly as it was.

"The live show was ridiculous because everyone knew it was live and anything could go wrong, but this was a completely different and unique situation. It was definitely on a par with the live show. We only used the stunt doubles to line up some of the shots so that we weren't underwater the whole time. We did all our own stunts, which we were so proud of."

How was it acting underwater?
"It is really hard to act underwater. You can't see anything and everything's all a blur and it's hard to get your expressions right. Your instincts are to look after yourself so you have to remind yourself you're meant to be playing someone else acting scared, not just yourself."

Were you scared when you were filming underwater?
"There is slight apprehension when you're at the bottom of a ten-foot tank and you're pretending to be stuck. Plus you then have to take your air regulator out and your goggles off after they say, '3, 2, 1'.

"Whilst I was stuck underwater I had a spare regulator between my legs but there is still the fear that if you don't put it in properly or if you don't exhale and get all the water out, you could be in a situation. But we had divers standing by who were just amazing - they were there to pull us out at any moment."

Can you tell us a bit more about Pinewood itself?
"We've had to keep it all quiet. Helena Bonham Carter and Brad Pitt were there and Ridley Scott's new film was in production. At first we thought we would feel out of our territory, but we were pleasantly surprised to find that as we went around Pinewood, loads of crew and technicians said hello as they all watched Emmerdale - 'Hi Chas, you alright mate? Come and have a ride on my minibus and I'll show you around the studio'.

"Some people seemed more excited that we were down there than someone like Brad Pitt, which is absolutely ridiculous of course, but I guess they get used to those big movie stars."

Are you excited to see the episodes?
"I am, but as Charley and I are always highly critical of ourselves, I'm sure afterwards we will think we could have done an awful lot better. But with the time we had to film and the stuff we had to do, hopefully we did the best we could and I hope it will come across and make for amazing viewing.

"I am so proud of our production team and Kate Oates, our series producer. Everybody was saying, 'Let's do the best we can, it's Pinewood for God's sake'. The show is going so well and they're chucking everything at it at the moment. It's storyline after storyline after storyline - everything is being thrown at it.

"I've always been honoured to be part of the show, but I'm so delighted to be given something as massive as this and I want to do the production proud."

In fact, I have decided I want to learn how to scuba dive properly. It was thrilling, exciting, scary and even claustrophobic, but you felt safe at all times.

"We had divers everywhere making sure we were alright. The costume department gave us hot water bottles and towels because we had to keep getting out of the water. Everyone pulled together and it was just the most amazing week."

How will this compare to last year's live episode?
"In a way, it is bigger. The live was just such a manic thing. This may look bigger to an audience, but it is always hard to know how big stunts look to an audience. They feel completely different to how they come across on camera. I hope this one comes across exactly as it was.

"The live show was ridiculous because everyone knew it was live and anything could go wrong, but this was a completely different and unique situation. It was definitely on a par with the live show. We only used the stunt doubles to line up some of the shots so that we weren't underwater the whole time. We did all our own stunts, which we were so proud of."

How was it acting underwater?
"It is really hard to act underwater. You can't see anything and everything's all a blur and it's hard to get your expressions right. Your instincts are to look after yourself so you have to remind yourself you're meant to be playing someone else acting scared, not just yourself."

Were you scared when you were filming underwater?
"There is slight apprehension when you're at the bottom of a ten-foot tank and you're pretending to be stuck. Plus you then have to take your air regulator out and your goggles off after they say, '3, 2, 1'.

"Whilst I was stuck underwater I had a spare regulator between my legs but there is still the fear that if you don't put it in properly or if you don't exhale and get all the water out, you could be in a situation. But we had divers standing by who were just amazing - they were there to pull us out at any moment."

Can you tell us a bit more about Pinewood itself?
"We've had to keep it all quiet. Helena Bonham Carter and Brad Pitt were there and Ridley Scott's new film was in production. At first we thought we would feel out of our territory, but we were pleasantly surprised to find that as we went around Pinewood, loads of crew and technicians said hello as they all watched Emmerdale - 'Hi Chas, you alright mate? Come and have a ride on my minibus and I'll show you around the studio'.

"Some people seemed more excited that we were down there than someone like Brad Pitt, which is absolutely ridiculous of course, but I guess they get used to those big movie stars."

Are you excited to see the episodes?
"I am, but as Charley and I are always highly critical of ourselves, I'm sure afterwards we will think we could have done an awful lot better. But with the time we had to film and the stuff we had to do, hopefully we did the best we could and I hope it will come across and make for amazing viewing.

"I am so proud of our production team and Kate Oates, our series producer. Everybody was saying, 'Let's do the best we can, it's Pinewood for God's sake'. The show is going so well and they're chucking everything at it at the moment. It's storyline after storyline after storyline - everything is being thrown at it.

"I've always been honoured to be part of the show, but I'm so delighted to be given something as massive as this and I want to do the production proud."

Emmerdale star Lucy Pargeter has said that the hostage situation next week will have lasting consequences for her character Chas Dingle and niece Debbie.

Viewers will know that there is an on-going feud between Chas and Debbie (Charley Webb) due to their relationships with Cameron, and more recently over Debbie's involvement in Gennie's death.

Speaking at an Emmerdale press conference yesterday, Pargeter said: "This is the way to plaster them together or the way to pull them apart forever. It is an experience that they go through together and it is with the man that they both love or have loved.

"I think this will either rip them apart or pull them together and hopefully that will be either the end of their relationship, or the end of their feud. It will be nice for it to have a conclusion either way."

Webb added: "I hope they do sort it out. The two of them were so close and they both depend on each other so much. It would be nice to have them reunited."

Emmerdale star Lucy Pargeter has reaffirmed her commitment to the soap as she prepares to take part in I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

The actress, best known for playing Chas Dingle in the ITV drama, is one of ten contestants who have today (November 13) been officially confirmed for the reality show's latest series.

Speaking of her involvement for the first time, Pargeter insisted that she won't be looking for a new career direction after her stint in the high-profile programme.

She confirmed: "I am not doing it for those reasons. I have got a job and I am not doing it to further my career. When I come out of the show, I will go back to Emmerdale. For me, it's more of a personal challenge."

The 36-year-old admitted that she agreed to take part "on the spur of the moment" after being approached by the jungle show's bosses.

"I am bricking myself now about going into the jungle," she said. "You start thinking 'Why am I doing it? Why am I putting myself through it?'

"I do tend to make all my decisions in life on the spur of the moment. I don't really think about it. But at the same time, there comes a time where it's good to make myself do something I would not normally do.

"I am 36, I don't challenge myself, I don't do anything out of the ordinary. I am very happy with the routine of my life I have got."

Pargeter added that the biggest challenges will be appearing out of character and being involved in Bushtucker Trials.

She explained: "I have always been able to hide behind my character. People will see me as me, which is weird to get your head around. That is the most worrying part, really. I am most scared of the fear of people not liking you.

"But I want to give everything a go. The challenges are not there for you to enjoy. They are there to cause you grief and make people laugh!"
