sorry to hear about your leg sounds so painful! So is your leg plastered or something? When is your prom?
College for me finished some time ago just I have signed up on an Open university course this year to start my degree as I wanted to work and study - not easy but keeping myself focused seems to be the key to keeping me interested :)
Nope luckily she says it should heal itself in two weeks and if it doesn't i'm to got to my GP.
I'm hopinh to go onto uni after my college course.
What Degree you doing with the OU?
Childhood and Youth Studies through the OU
What degree would you like to go on to do?
And I hope that you foot gets better soon.x
So far so good first bit seems focused on social science and the essay that I will be doing in connected to evolution.
Not bad so far just finding the time in the day when not working to pick a book up doesn't happen every night :(
Have you decided on the uni you want to go to?
Sounds good have you already applied?
Nope cause my college course is a 2 year course. So i'll apply around 2011.
What are you currently studying?
I will be studying Higher History, Admin, Modern Studies and Int 2 English. Althrough it depends on my English mark when i get them back.
So did you just start you A Levels recently?
nope i'm doing them when i head to college
Oh so are you about to finish your gcses then? Having exams now?
We're different up in Scotland. But what i've just sat are a bit like GCSES (i think!) but i've finished those:D
I hardly know anything about the Scottish education system compared to the English one. I know one thing about Scotland that you don't pay for uni fees compared to England if I'm right?
Yeah you are they get paid for you up here. I'm useless when it comes to the education system in England. I sit there thinking eh? lol but i get some of it.
Lucky you to have that opportunity!
England should follow and make further education free also
If I had known years ago that the education system was free I would of moved up there as it seems to be a beautiful place and they seem to have the right idea on how things should be run.
Thanks for your kind words it does take some motivation I have been up since 2am studying now I'm having the rest of the day to myself :)
What did you or are you studying di marco?
So would you like to be on tv or working on the stage for theatre work? which one would you like to do?
i dont really have a clue yet lol! when i started i wanted to do tv/performance work, now i sort of wanna be a stage manager but the pay is really crap so i dunno. at least ive got another year to decide! or i could always do a pgce after cos i wouldnt mind being a primary school teacher maybe so i could have that to fall back on!
I'm interested as I have never known anyone to take on such a course. What made you choose this one?
Do you perform like sing, act and dance?
well it was my best subject at school along with maths (and all the maths open days were really boring and i couldnt see myself only doing maths for 3yrs!). and id been at my local dance and theatre school for about 12yrs since i was about 3 til it closed down so ive always liked doing it. and as i didnt know what i wanted to do i thought id choose something that i enjoyed and that i was good at. well i dance and act, my singings not bad but im not really that good so i dont really sing that much
I hope that it works out for you :)
I'm sure that you will do fine.
I bet the industry that your in is pretty competitive as so many people around want to break into tv and acting
That much. In some ways that isn't too bad as most average paid jobs pay around that wage. But I suppose with anything if you start from the bottom you have to start off at a low wage before you hit the big time!
£1000 starting out in any industry is not bad - to go into something expecting more and you haven't got the skills yet is a bit dreamy.
With something like that it could mean living at home for a bit longer and saving or risk getting into serious debt.
how can £1000 not be bad when you can earn 8 times that on minimum wage? the reason its so low is cos most of the time you will be out of work. unless you were completely relying on your parents for rent/bills/food/transport. tbh i dont think you could find anyone who would be happy earning that a year and could honestly say they could live off it
If I was living at home still and I was earning that I wouldn't be upset or I may have to take on a 2nd job.
thats what im saying, you would need a second job, which wouldnt be easy if you had to keep taking time off for auditions/acting work. if it was a normal job earning that for even only working 2 days a week you would be being severely underpaid for that doesnt even work out half of the minimum wage for 2 days a week work on minimum wage (which you would get at least £2500 for). £1000 might seem a lot but when you compare it to minimum wage which is what everyone should be getting if they are working, you see that actually it is a lot lot less in comparison. and thats what most actors would be earning their whole life each year from acting as its only around 1% that get a big break. so yeh actings not really worth it lol!
I was never aware that the acting world would be so under paid as I mentioned earlier in the post I have never known anyone that has got into this industry whether it be from the top or the bottom. I just assumed like with any job if you start out then you had to expect that the money wouldn't be much. But if this is how it was going to be for numerous years before I hit the big time if it was me then I would possibly have to choose a different career. As you have to survive and it would be hard to do so by what you said.
