wooooo good luck cornet:P i had to get my eyes done aswell driving is well addictive was cool didnt expect to drive at all on first lesson but did wooooo cant wait for next sat! good luck to anyone taking there test
hope i got this in the right catogorey. ive been really annoyed with my drinving instructor lately and thought id have a rant about it. what it is is ive been learnign to drive since january. ive had 30 lessons and took my theory in april. well i introduced my friend to him and she is now one of his pupils too. well she started a good month if not two after me and took her theory the last thursday. She hasnt had 30 lesson just yet and were both doing exactly the same things on our lessons. well so we thought. He told her on friday the day after her theory that she could go ahead and book her practical because the wait is so long that by the time it comes to it shell be ready. Everyone seems to think its just me being impaitent but the thing is im not. he told both of us that the nadverage person would need at least 40 lessons before a practical but he seems to keeping my back. i mean ive had 30 lessons and only done 3 point turns and reversing round a corner which ive done sooo many times i can do it in my sleep!:wall: its really bugging me and my friends the one that pointed the fact that shes not had as many lessons as me and that i should see if hes forgotten about my theory.
i just wondered if anyone else had any proplems or advise to help me. its not that im not pleased for my friend i mena ive waited so long for it and i just want to drive now and to be held back its like a big kick in the teeth as if hes telling me im no good and hopeless but my mate is far better.
Any help or advice or anything would be much appreaciated!
I wish I could help, but the only thing I can think of is that she has picked it up quicker (and thats nothing to be ashamed at if you don't, everyone is different) so she may just be ready quicker. He may see things that you and your friend aren't aware of.
I can't think of any reason why he would keep you back unless he thought you just may need a bit longer to be sure that you don't waste your money on the test until you are definately ready.
Ask him when he thinks it would be best for you to book it, and see what he thinks you need more work on.
I hope you do pass soon, Good luck!
change your instructor he sounds like no good
I think if you have had 30 lessons you should be able to book your test now
Ask him if he thinks your ready or when you can book it and see what he says..
you say you have done reversing round corners and 3 point turns but have you done parallel parking..
My sister has just booked her test and the earliest date she can get is the 25th of august..
Yeah it is a long wait, I passed my theory after about 27 lessons but then had to wait a while before we test so i did about 33 lessons before my test. But then i failed lol, for a really stupid reason i was kicking my self and now i have to wait over a month for my next test, so that means at least another 4 lessons.
Cooolio!! :p I found this on the AA site.. it's like a example theory test!! I will be practising this till im 17!! I need to see if they give like a full thing though.. (If I'm allowed to post this, go here to take it :p) x
thanks for ur advise. he cancelled my lesson today as well. the lesson where iwas goign to ask him about the test and how i go about bookign it because of contacting him before i do it. i havent even touched the parrell parking where as the lesson my friend had the next day she started the parraell parking. hoping iwould i droped hints about my lesson but he just stuck me on those dreaded reversing round the corner. now knowing my luck when/ if i finally book it i bet reversing round a corner doesnt even come up.
anyway ive decied im goign to give him two more lessons and if nothings said about booking my test with me asking about it then im getting rid of him! but ill let you know. thanks again.
I can confirm that the drivinbg age for taking tests is NOT going up. Thank the lord! Panic over!
However my driving instructor said the following may come into play:
Limits on energy power for first car before 21... ie boy racers cant have sports cars
Curfues on times that you can drive a car
oh yes and in regards to child car seats, from September if you kid is under 12or under 139cm then they MUST have a booster seat. IT IS THE LAW!!!
What a fantastic idea - although maybe is should be more like everyone is restricted for the first couple of years, not just young people. Too many people pass their test, buy a Gold GTi, Saxo SXi etc and go out driving up and down the seafronts (of which I have seen and experienced) or jump on the motorway having never driven on the motorway before and end up cutting people up or not seeing what is happening ahead on the road etc, racing people at traffic lights. Until they are used to the handling of the vehicle and have learnt to drive (I always consider you are learning to pass your test, not learning to drive) properly and sensibly then they should be restricted on engine size and bhp/torque. The points thing hasn't made a difference, so maybe the actual power of the car will. And this goes for everyone who passes their tests (as I mentioned) not just 17/18 year olds who have just passed but all ages should be included in this (as I can personally vouch for me not being a slow driver, but after 13 years experience behind the wheel and not racing anyone or speeding in built up areas and having eyes in my backside as well as everywhere else, I'm not that bad, especially in comparison to some people)
I think thats a great idea making it safer fir Drivers and other people on the road. I sat in my mums car and i cant reach the pedals. Got my eye appointment so next job on the list is to book my lessons with the driving school on my road. I was going to go with my uncle but he shouts to much so i m going to the nearest one,
Thank god for that!! I'm really looking forward to driving as well!! :cheer:Quote:

Curfews are no good - if you are going to drive like a pratt (no matter what age you are) it doesn't matter whether its daytime or night time, you will still drive like a pratt.
The height is more important than the age Spicy, due to the positioning of adult belts if you are shorter than that. If you are shorter than 139cm than the seat belt is positioned in such a way that it will cause more damage to you because of the positioning, so its safer to be in a booster seat if you are below this height.Quote:

my driving thing is all sorted out now. i turned my mobile on this morning ot find a text from my instructor askign if i can do a lesson tonight where he gave me all the information i wanted about my test. and it turned out hed forgotten id taken my theory. so now all i need to do is rememebr the website i had to book my theory nd book my practical. so now that little episode is over i can go on to worry about hte actualy thing! thatsnk for all your help.
Snap, i did the same, i found it quite easy but i had practised alot.Quote:

Under 12s who are smaller than 4ft 5ins (135cm) will have to use car booster seats under rules coming in next month.Quote:

The government wants kids and adults to be ready for the ruling, which comes into force on 18 September.
Many parents use car seats and boosters for younger kids, but research shows that many children are using regular seat belts by the age of seven.
Boosters lift kids up and make sure the belt is in the right position, meaning they are less likely to get hurt.
Experts say the new rules could save 2,000 lives every year.
They also apply to your younger brothers and sisters as all under threes will only be allowed to travel in a car seat.
A government spokesman said the new rules will mean that children are "properly secured".
He added: "Most people make sure that children use some kind of restraint, but it is important to use the right one for the size of the child and to take time to fit it properly."
i got my theory next monday i do alright on hazard preceptions aint failed that for ages but theory i pass then fail then pass then fail haha wish me luckkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
i did my theory in september and my instructor thinks i'm ready for my practical test, but i keep putting it off! i'm so scared, the thought of sitting in silence with an examiner, while trying to concentrate on my driving terrifies me!
also, one of my best friends failed her test a couple of weeks ago and she is a much more confident driver than me!
i would be grateful if anybody has any good tips for extreme nerves?!?!?
Goodluck with your theroy testQuote:

I failed my practical test yesterday. I got 14 minors and 2 serious! I'm gonna try and get it booked again for March 15th.
aww no, im sure yourll pass next time. My mate hadsomething simular to that when he failed, he past second time though. It was the roundabout with him, he waited to long, and was to hesitant.
ive had 2 practical tests now and my tird was due on 8th feb but the snow cancled it have to wait untill 27th march for it now. thing that winds me up is i booked the third test for the 9th but forgot to put my instuctors details in so i had to cancel and do it the day before! i was kicking myself!!!!! i faild my 1st one on not looking over my sholder on the 3 point turn adn my second one because i kinda nearly crashed into a parkd car! but it was worth it just to see the sheer terror in the examiners face!!! hahaha
i cudnt find this thread i past my theory couple weeks ago got my practical in april wooo bring it on
I've got my first lesson on Tuesday at 8am. I'm slightly nervous but looking forward to it. What happens on your first lesson?
It all depends on your instructor, some sit you down and talk you trough everything, how it will pan out, what everything does in your car etc. Some get you driving straight away, but dont worry it will only be going trough 1st and 2nd gear and turning corners in a quiet resedential area. dont worry, relax, and it should be fine :)
yeah mine friend did a hill start on her first lesson she was well shocked. The instructor also locked the doors when they got onto the estate by my house incase anything got stolen. That didnt fill her full of confidence.
yeah like Bry says dont worry about it and then it will be easier as you will be more relaxed.
Hill start... I'm so pleased there aren't any hills round here.
How much did you pay for lessons? I'm paying £160 for a course of ten. Some schools round my area charge up to £20 an hour.
My first lesson went great. She said I had good control and I only made one big mistake, mounting the kerb when doing a left turn. Went though to fourth gear. Did left and right turns, most of my friends were only allowed to do lefty on their first lesson, did left turns off a few roundabout.
I'm really pleased and I can't wait for next week.
Passed my practical Driving Test today!! I only got one minor, because I didn't check my mirrors when I left a roundabout.
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
Congratulations rob :) one minor that was really good..
i passed my practical on wednesday!!! finally only taken me 4 times! i got 8 minors and they were for slight things. lol i faild my third for speeding!!!! how annoying but i finally passed im sooo happy!!!!!!! just trying to find a car and decent insurence rates.
