Great chapter. Everyone makes Stuart out to be evil and although I think that there's something not quite right about him, I don't think he's evil
Aww, very sweet, Stuart was so nice and understanding. Hope she tells him soon, bless Phil for thinking that Stuart and Sam were holding hands because they were still going out. Stuart was very reasonable even though it's even on the telly box he don't like Phil.
only another short entry im sorry, but i'm in college and should really be doin some work - enjoy!
Sam had been watching Phil from across the room for several minutes, before she glanced over at Stuart, who gave her a reassuring nod.
No time like the present, she thought, getting up from her desk and making her way over to Phil’s desk.
“Hey”, she greeted him.
Phil looked up from his desk, and although he looked a little surprised, he smiled and said “Hi.”
What do I say? She asked herself, sorry I’ve been rejecting you for the last two years, but hey, that’s all in the past, do you want to go out for a drink?
Phil, upon noticing her hesitation and apparent discomfort, asked, “Sam, are you ok? Need some help on a case or something?”
Jolted out of her thoughts, Sam tried to regain her composure a little, stuttering a bit as she explained. “Um . . . no, not really. Phil, I was just wondering . . . can we talk? Later I mean? Not here?”
Totally confused, but intrigued at the same time, Phil said, “Of course, anytime.”
Sam visually relaxed. “Good, ok, well, I have to go out for a bit now. I have a doctor’s appointment in half an hour, but when I get back, you want to grab a coffee or something?”
Phil nodded. “Sam, is everything ok?”
Touched by his concern, she simply nodded.
“I mean with the doctors?”
“Oh, yeah, it’s just a check-up for my high blood pressure. No lack of stress in this job. I have to go every 6 months. I won’t be long.”
“Ok, then, well, good luck and I’ll see you when you get back.”
“See you later.”
Another good episode - cant wait for sam to tell him - it will be interesting how she phrases it!:)
great chapter. i'm suspicious about the blood pressure thing.... can't wait for next update.

love this story, can't wait for sam to tell phil how she feels
ooooo, looking good can't wait for the next part but the doctors thing seems a little fishy, I was thinking that she might be pregnant but then it'd be Stuart's!!!! Omg. :O I can imagine Phil being pleased about that! Anyway whatever you write it'll no doubt be good. Looking forward to next part.
Im very suspicious of the doctors appointment too. maybe this will be your twist then?
i didnt think of that possibility!!!that would be bad - interesting though to see what phils reaction would be.
“How did the doctor’s go then Sam?” Phil asked, on her return to the office.
Walking over to her desk, she placed her bag on the back of her chair and looked up at Phil.
“Erm . . . oh, it was fine”, she lied. Really, she wasn’t sure what to think. Everything had been normal, until the doctor had asked her to take part in some extra test thingies.
It’s just new procedure, the doctor had told her, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong.
“Are you sure? You seem a little flustered. You know you can tell me anything, don’t you Sam.”
Looking up into those huge brown eyes, which were currently filled with concern, made Sam’s heart melt, and she realised, that what she was about to do was the right thing. “You busy?” she asked, her nagging doubts about the doctors already forgotten, as she led him out of the office.
Once outside the front of Sun Hill Police Station, Sam lent on the railings, facing the station, while Phil stood, somewhat uncertain, a few feet away.
“Phil, there’s something I need to tell you and I need you to understand that if you want nothing to do with it, I completely understand.”
“Huh?’ Phil frowned.
“It’s just . . . “
“Sam, you’re starting to scare me”, he joked. “Just spit it out will you?”
“Stuart and I have broken up”, she blurted.
Phil was taken aback slightly, “Oh.” Then he released that Sam must be upset, “Sam, I’m sorry, he’s an idiot.”
“I ended it Phil . . . there’s someone else.”
Phil tried to keep his voice as casual as he could as he asked, “Who?”
She looked at him, straight in the eyes, and watched as a wave of shock came over his handsome features, closely followed by confusion.
“I just, I liked Stuart, I really did, but even he noticed that we have . . . something!” she said, searching for the right word and unable to find one. “I know I’ve said some pretty nasty things to you in the past, but I think I was . . . scared!” That’s not a thing she liked to admit to.
Phil had watched Sam throughout her explanation, which wide eyes and an open mouth.
“If you want nothing to do with me, I understand. You gave me enough chances.” Sam was scared he was about to reject her, repaying all the kindness she’d shown him in the past, whenever he’d tried to ask her out. Looking at the floor, she could feel her heart beating, as the moments silence, seemed to last a lifetime, as she prepared herself for the worst.
“Are you kidding me?” Sam was still looking at the floor, and couldn’t see the huge grin that was spreading over his face.
Thinking he was being serious, Sam nodded and said, “I’m sorry, I’ll go.”
As she began to walk away, Phil grabbed her arm and said, “Don’t you dare Nixon”, before pulling her close and covering her soft lips with his own.
Sam, a little resistant at first, had melted into the kiss within seconds, wrapping her arms around his neck, while he placed his hands on her slim waist.
awww great update! Yay!! they kissed! hope the doctors stuff isnt too serious (although it does sound it)
Wow, looking goooood. I'm excited to read the rest, suspicious about the doctors thing though, ekk! Hope she's ok.

anyways, i hope you all enjoy!
“Zain, quick, come here”, Jo tried to whisper to her fellow DC, who sat at his desk, next to hers.
Looking more than a little confused, he got up out of his seat and made his way over to the window, where she stood looking out onto the car park. What?”
Glancing in the direction of where she was pointing, Zain couldn’t help but gasp at what he saw. “Phil and Sam?”
Jo just stood there, watching and grinning.
“Guess he finally broke her then”, he commented.
“Oi”, Jo belittled him, “Sam does not need . . . breaking! She just needs . . . “
“Phil?”
Jo nodded, the insanely huge grin returning to her face once again.
__________________________________________________ ________________________________________
Mustering up all of her strength, Sam pulled away from Phil, gasping a little.
“Phil, we can’t, people will talk.” Looking up at the huge window of CID, which overlooked the car park, Sam felt her heart stop.
Apparently noticing too, Phil replied, “Looks like it’s a bit late for that now anyway. Let ‘em talk.” At her unconvinced smile, a thought suddenly occurred to him, “You’re not ashamed of me are you?”
“No, Phil of course not, it’s just . . . “ She trailed off, her gaze wandering back up to the second storey window, where Jo and Zain stood, apparently enjoying the show, from the grins plastered across both their faces.
“Well then”, Phil began, in a somewhat mischievous tone, “Let’s give them something to really talk about.”
“Phil? What do you . . .?”
But she never got a chance to finish her question, as he silenced her with a kiss, not quite as intense as the first had been, but still enough to make her heart do a little jump.
Temporarily forgetting the audience they had acquired, she was just getting into the kiss, when she felt Phil pull away, bend down, slide his arms behind her back and under her legs and sweep her off her feet, all in one fluid motion.
Sam couldn’t stop laughing as Phil walked towards the Main Entrance, carrying her in his strong arms. She felt a rush of love for him; it was this exact thing that made her like him so much. She loved his crazy little stunts and his unpredictability and the way he could always make her laugh, no matter how dire the situation was. In that moment, she was so happy; she couldn’t have cared less if the whole world was watching them.
It was somewhat of a struggle to get her through the door, having to crab walk sideways through the double doors, as a couple walked out tin the opposite direction, pausing to give Sam and Phil a disapproving look as they left the station.
“Phil”, Sam was still laughing, “Phil, you have to put me down. Quick, before someone see’s us.”
“DS Hunter, DS Nixon, what do you think you’re doing?”
“Oops, too late”, she whispered, still feeling a little giddy from her unusual mode of transport into the building.
Finally, placing Sam on her feet, she and Phil turned to find Superintendent Okaro coming towards them. “What on earth is going on here? DS Nixon, are you hurt?”
Sam felt guilty, as she saw genuine concern in her Super’s eyes. She had always admired Adam and felt bad that she had been caught messing around, while on duty. “Erm . . . not really Sir. I’m sorry, we were just . . . “
She glanced at Phil, willing his to come up with some reasonable excuse. She knew she would be disappointed, but still, she had to give him points for effort. “Actually, Sir, I’m afraid it’s my fault. I got a little carried away and I . . . “
“It appeared that it was Miss Nixon who was being carried away.”
It was taking all of Adam’s control not to burst out laughing at Sam’s expression of horror, at thinking she was in serious trouble, and Phil’s expression, trying his best to suppress a grin, looking like a naughty schoolboy who’d been caught sneaking an extra biscuit at dinnertime.
After a couple of moments, he could maintain his pretence no longer and let out a little giggle. At both Sam and Phil’s confused faces, he burst out in fully-fledged laughter.
Trying to regain some control over himself, he took a deep breath and addressed the two Sergeants more formally. “Please, in the future, try not to make your little show of affections in the front office.”
“Sir”, they answered in union, looking up at their commanding officer.
Walking away, they heard him mutter, “No matter how entertaining they are.”
Sam turned to shoot Phil a confused look, but while Phil was still staring after the Super, only he noticed the wink Adam gave him as he turned to go up the stairs.
Phil smiled and turning back to Sam, told her, “I think that went rather well.”
Sam didn’t know whether she wanted to hit him or hug him, so she decided to do neither, and with an exaggerated sigh, followed the direction in which the Super had gone, up to the ranks of CID, with Phil in close pursuit, asking “What?” the entire way. Sam’s only response was a smile.
that was really good - it made me laugh!!!i really want to know the news though!!!!
hehe, that chapter was quite funny, and sweet
Very cool, loved it, was so funny. Adam made me laugh, want to find out the news though, waiting in anticipation here.

anyway, hope you enjoy
“What a day”, Sam complained, as she dropped down into her seat at her desk. She had been working with Phil all day on a case, involving a robbery, and two very reluctant witnesses. It turned out that the mother of a young teenage boy was actually her moth-in-law, who incidentally he hated, and so he’d broken into his own house and stolen all her jewellery and stuff to try and scare her away. In the end, no charges had been made and Phil and Sam had ended up working as a couple of social workers, instead of the trained Detectives that they were. Sam did not like to have her time wasted, running around of a wild goose chase.
Phil, who had followed her into CID came up behind her and began massaging the tense muscles in her shoulders. Sam looked around the office self-consciously; they had already been caught once today. The Super had been understanding, even happy, but she knew any more would be taking the Michael.
However, upon looking around, she saw not another soul in CID.
And it has been a hard day, she told herself.
Closing her eyes, she leant her head back on her chair and let Phil work his magic; he was pretty good. Just as she felt the knots in her muscles being rubbed out, Phil’s voice invaded her thoughts.
“You know what you need?”
Sam, who couldn’t force herself to open her eyes, replied, “Another one of you, I can put in my bag for when I’m stressed?”
Phil chose to ignore the comment, although he did smile. “A drink. Fancy going to the pub after work?”
“Sure”, Sam said, a little dreamily.
Noticing Sam was leaning back on her chair, with her eyes still firmly shut, Phil leant down over the top of her head and planted a sweet kiss on her lips. Surprised at first, Sam opened her eyes to see Phil’s upside down smile, as he leant over from behind her.
Placing a hand on the back of his neck, she pulled his closely until their lips met again, and again.
Obviously pre-occupied, neither Sam nor Phil had noticed Jo enter. Walking over to her desk with a roll of her eyes, she sat down, telling the couple to “Get a room”. Jumping apart like someone had fired a gun, Sam went an immediate shade of red.
“You shouldn’t sneak up on people like that”, Sam told her.
“Hey, there was no sneaking on my part Sarge. It’s you two”, she informed them, motioning around the otherwise empty room to emphasise her point. “Look, you’ve scared everyone else away.”
“Ha ha, DC Masters, very funny”, Sam said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Don’t you have work to be doing?”
“Hey, my fingers are working overtime here.”
Sam smiled at her, before the young DC turned back around to her desk.
Phil, who had watched the encounter between the two women in silence, kissed Sam on the forehead, before moving back off to his own desk. “I’ll pick you up at 8, ok?”
Sam nodded, “Fine”.
“Listen, I have to go out for a bit, but I’ll see you later”.
“Bye.”
Walking out of the office, Phil walked past Jo, who had her back turned to wards him, so he didn’t see the huge grin spread out across the DC’s face, as she turned to watch him exit CID.
Oooooo, what's Phil up to? Good thing hopefully. And what's the whole doctor's thing? Is it a bad thing or good thing at all or maybe it'll be making you think it's really bad or something then it's wonderful. Well, superm update hun.

“Gin and tonic?” Phil asked as he took his jacket off and placed it next to Sam at the only empty table left in the pub.
Taking her own jacket off, Sam nodded, “Please.”
As he made his way over to the bar, Sam couldn’t help but notice how good he looked tonight. In his burgundy, muscle hugging shirt (and my, those were good muscles), and jeans, she realised he didn’t look that different to the way he did everyday at work. It was more like, she was seeing him properly for the first time – and she liked what she saw. He turned round to smile and her, and realising she was string, she smiled back and made a show of getting her phone out of her little handbag, intending to text Abi and let her daughter know where she was.
Standing at the bar, waiting to get served. Phil couldn’t help but feel a little like he was mixed up in some sort of dream. Turning round to see her sitting at their table waiting for him, he thought, ‘Well, she’s still here at least’. He had been waiting for this opportunity for so long and he didn’t intend wasting it. He found his mind wandering to how good Sam looked tonight. Not that she didn’t always look good to him, but in her strappy baby pink top, light blue jeans and pink flip flops, she looked very different to the suit-clad Sam he was accustomed to.
After paying for their drinks, Phil made his way back over to where Sam sat, placing the drinks in front of her.
There was an awkward silence for a couple of minutes, before they both started to talk at exactly the same time.
Laughing it off, Phil told Sam, “You go first.”
“Oh, it wasn’t important, I was just going to ask if you’ve seen Maddie or Alfie recently?” Seeming to realise what se had said, she tried to amend “Not that they’re not important. I Just meant you know, it wasn’t a matter of life or death that I asked you right this second. Of course they’re important. I’m sorry.”
Phil smiled at her little outburst. “I know what you meant. I spoke to Kate last week and she said Alfie’s doing great. As for Maddie, I haven’t spoken to her for a couple of months now, but last time I did she was ok.”
Seeing a pained expression come over his handsome features, she realised what an idiot she was – she had brought up the single most painful subject Phil could talk about.
Way to go Nixon, she told herself.
“I’m sorry Phil, I didn’t mean to pry. I just . . .”
“It’s alright Sam, I know you meant well.”
Feeling the need to change the subject, Sam asked, “What were you going to say, then?”
“Oh, nothing. It doesn’t matter.”
Sam noticed his cheeks redden a little. “Come on Phil, what was it?”
“Really, Sam, it doesn’t matter. I was just being stupid as usual.”
Her raised eyebrows said it all, and Phil was just about to tell her what was on his mind when the doors to the pub burst open and half of the Metropolitan Police walked in.
Jo Masters was in the lead, visually searching the pub. Upon spotting Sam and Phil sat in the corner, she motioned for the other to follow, as she made her way towards them.
The cheekiest grin Sam had ever seen plastered all over the DC’s face, she went for sarcasm, “Fancy seeing you two here.”
only a short one i know, but i didn't realise it was this short - sorry! it's a short but sweet chapter.

Great update, can't wait to read more
A couple e of hours later, everyone sat around a huge table, Sam sat next to Phil with her legs draped over his own.
Jo sat beside her, currently proving her lack of knowledge on all tings football, as she tried to explain the offside rule to Suzie, who was even less knowing and didn’t even realise there was an offside rule. Phil looked over at Zain, who rolled his eyes to the heavens, sighed and asked, “How can you not know what the offside rule is?”
“Well, I think there are more important things in life than a bunch of men running around a muddy filed chasing a bag of air”, Suzie replied, in her usual, straight to the point, no-nonsense tone.
“Well yeah”, Sam agreed. Who had been playing with Phil’s hands on her lap, in an attempt to stop him poking her, “But I can’t argue about the men part”, she continued with a slight gleam in her eye as she turned to wink at Jo.
“Hey, Phil protested, resuming his poking of her in the side, knowing she was ticklish. Sam let out a little squeal, wriggling about to try and get away.
“God you two, get a room, would ya?” Gina told the couple.
“Speaking off”, Sam began, looking down at her watch, “I should really get going.”
“Can’t you stay for one more?” Jo asked, as Sam rose to her feet, her arm trailing behind her as Phil kept tight hold of her hand.
“Abi’s staying out tonight and she said she would call me later. I haven’t seen her for a while, so I don’t really want to miss her call.”
Jo smiled, she was very fond of Sam’s daughter. “She still having fun at Uni?”
“Yeah, she loves it.”
“Come on then you, I’ll take you home”, Phil told her.
“See you all tomorrow”, Sam told them.
“Bye”, Phil followed suit, downing the rest of his pint and getting to his feet. Putting his arm over Sam’s shoulder, they made their way towards the door.
“You two behave”, Jo called, suppressing a little giggle, as she watched Sam usher her boyfriend out of the pub, before anyone else noticed her cheeks had turned a scarlet colour.
Outside the smoky pub, the cold wind hit Sam suddenly, causing her to shiver involuntarily. Before she could refuse, she felt Sam’s jacket around her shoulders, before he moved away to flag a taxi.
__
Paying the driver, Phil escorted Sam all the way to her front door.
“You want to come in for coffee?” she asked with a smile.
Phil’s grin said it all and she opened the door and let him follow her in. She checked the phone for messages on her way to the kitchen to find none.
Putting her bag on the side and flicking the kettle on, she turned to find Phil standing in the doorway. Leaning against the frame.
“You come in you know”, she told him, as she went to get two mugs out of the cupboard. “Sit down.”
“Yes Serge”, he mocked with a smile as he sat down at the table in the centre of her kitchen.
“Sam, can I ask you something?”
Sam was a bit sceptical at his suddenly serious voice and acknowledged the frown on his face with one of her own. “Yeah?”
“What made you change your mind? About us? Well, me really?”
Sam had known this question would come, but tried to push it to the back of her mind. As if it would make the question go away, she got up from the table and turning her back on him, went back to making the coffee. “I never did”, she all but whispered.
“Sorry?”
Sam briefly looked back at him to see the confused expression on his face. Trying to explain, she began, “I never did. I always felt something for you. I was just scared. You weren’t exactly renown for your faithfulness and respect of women.”
“I know, I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be”, she told him. “I’m not saying I likes who you were, but that’s in the past.” She took his hand across the table. “I wasn’t exactly perfect in the past either. We’re here now and all that matters s how much I love you.”
“You what?” Phil could not believe what he was hearing. “Did you mean that?” He had to be sure.
“More than anything.”
“Do you realise how long I have wanted to here you say that?” he asked, as he came up behind her, sliding his hands around her waist and nuzzling her neck with his chin.
Sam nodded. “I’m sorry I was . . .”
Phil leaned around her, to cut her off with a kiss. Breaking away, he told her, “I love you too.”
Turning fully around, Sam placed her arms around Phil’s neck. “You really mean that?”
Phil bent over a little to smother Sam’s lips with his own in a gentle kiss. Pulling away ever so slightly, Sam whispered, “I’ll take that as a yes then.”
Pulling his face closer to hers once more, this time their lips met with a passion, as Sam felt Phil push her up against the counter. The passion they had kept bottled up for so long erupted as hands roamed, their lips meeting again and again.
After several moments, Sam pulled back, gasping for breath.
She grabbed Phil’s hand, leading him to wards the door.
Realising where she was going Phil felt a little thrill inside, but he had to check. “Are you sure about this?”
Leaning in close again, she whispered “More than anything in my life.”
She resumed in leading Phil out of the kitchen and up the stairs, the coffee already forgotten.

Oooooooooooh, that's so sweet. Can't wait to find out what happends next. :D Please update as soon as you can, but not so soon that it's preassuring for you.
Phil woke to find himself alone in Sam’s huge, floral print, king-sized bed. As the events of the previous night came flooding back to him, he couldn’t help a little grin, even as he felt worry grip his heart at the fact Sam was nowhere to be seen.
Rubbing his eyes open properly, he called out “Sam?”, as he made his way downstairs.
His only answer was silence as he walked into Sam’s spotless kitchen. The forgotten coffee mugs from last night were laid on the draining board beside the sink, along with a cereal bowl and spoon, where Sam had obviously had her breakfast and washed up before she left.
Moving further into the room, Phil noticed a piece of paper on the table, leant against the fruit bowl. Picking it up, he read Sam’s neat handwriting: -
Morning sleepyhead,
I tried to wake you up but you wouldn’t budge – kept muttering and rolling back over. Guess I must have worn you out :P
Anyway, sorry I had to get up early but I totally forgot about a meeting I have in like, oops, 20 minutes.
Help yourself to whatever you want – breads in the basket, cereal in the top cupboard and milks in the fridge (where else would it be?)
Oops, I’m, gonna be late,
See you later
Love Sam
Xxxxxxxxxx
Phil smiled, thinking about how much he really did love this woman he used to find any excuse to hurt.
Putting the note back on the table, he went to make himself a cup of coffee, before getting ready for work.
Walking back into CID having just finished her meeting with the new superintentdant, Jack and Neil, Sam heard her phone ringing. “DS Nixon”, she answered.
“Miss Nixon, this is Doctor Butler. I was just wondering if you could come into the surgery today?”
“Today?” she asked, unable to keep the shrill tone out of her voice.
“I know it’s short notice, but there’s something I need to discuss with you as soon as possible.”
Sam’s appointment at the surgery a couple of days ago came rushing back to her: the extra tests, the uneasy feeling she had had afterwards. But then she had become so distracted she had completely forgotten the whole thing.
Swallowing a big lump in her throat, she asked, “Is it bad?”
She didn’t like the hesitation on the other end of the phone, before the doctor replied, “I would prefer to talk to you in person if you don’t mind Miss Nixon. I have a free appointment space at 10.30, can you make that?”
“Erm . . “Sam stalled, glancing around the office: it wasn’t exactly bust around the place this morning. “Yeah ok, I’ll be there.”
Putting the phone back down, Sam pushed all her worries to the back of her mind as she went to see if Jack was in his office.
It’s probably just routine, she told herself, although she knew in her heart that something was very wrong.
“Morning Guv”, Phil greeting his DCI on his way into CID a couple of hours later.
“Morning Phil.”
Breezing into CID like he owned the place, Zain came up beside him, “Someone looks very happy with themselves this morning.”
Glancing around the office to find Sam once again nowhere to be seen, he turned back to Zain, ‘Have you seen Sam?”
With a little glint in his eye, Zain smiled, “ahhhh.”
“Ahhhh what?” Phil demanded, although he was feeling far to good to convey any anger in his voice.
“Nothing Serge”, Zain replied, still smiling. “Sam left about half an hour ago. Something about an appointment.”
“With who?”
“Dunno Serge, sorry.”
Phil shrugged, walked over to his desk and began shifting through some of his overdue paperwork, waiting for her to return to him.
I've just read it all, and i like it a lot!! how could you leave it there?! lol please update soon...!
