Michelle Connor is about to get a big shock as she realises there is plenty to learn about her new partner Robert Preston in Coronation Street. But as she discovers the truth about his dark and shady past after a stabbing occurs in the Bistro, will she stand by her man?
Robert’s former ‘friend’, Rich, has been threatening to expose his secrets to Michelle unless he helps him launder money through the premises but when Robert refuses to bow to his blackmail, he lashes out with a broken bottle and Chesney Brown ends up injured in the melee.
As Chesney is rushed to hospital, Robert admits to Michelle that Rich has been threatening him but what else is he about to reveal about what has gone on in years gone by? Michelle is left reeling by the confession but she seems set to support the man she loves as she hugs him while he fights back the tears.
In the wake of the accident, Robert is gutted by how his first day as sole owner of the bistro has ended and he contacts Rich to say that he is prepared to do one deal for him. Luring Rich to a car park, he tells him that he wants to buy some coke.
But is he genuinely wanting to do a deal with Rich or does he have a risky plan in mind that could land him in serious danger?

I bet Robert was high in the chain of drug barrens
Coronation Street's Robert Preston has confessed his dark past to Michelle Connor – but she still doesn't know the half of it.
Robert was left horrified in Monday night's double bill (July 3) as his dodgy old acquaintance Rich accidentally stabbed Chesney Brown during a terrifying showdown at the Bistro.
Rich lost it after Robert refused to help him out by laundering drugs money through the Bistro, and it was Chesney who paid the price when he got caught in the crossfire in dramatic scenes.
As Rich fled from the scene of the crime and Chesney was rushed to hospital, an under-pressure Robert was left to face questions from police and from his suspicious girlfriend Michelle.
Coming clean about Rich's identity during a moment alone, Robert told Michelle: "He's a dealer. He used to be my dealer. Coke mostly, when we were in kitchens together, working all hours. That was a long time ago.
"He's here because he thinks I'm still the same as I was back then. He's mixed up in something. He asked me to launder money through the Bistro. I said no, of course."
Michelle wanted to know why Robert hadn't made the police aware of this – and the reason is that there's even more to the dark story which he fears Rich could still expose.
Earlier on in Monday's episodes, Rich had made reference to a mysterious person called "Catherine", and while we didn't find out who she was, it was clear that she was central to Robert's biggest secret.
Who is Catherine and what happened to her? We'll find out on Wednesday, when Robert reluctantly tells Michelle everything...

Would be an interesting twist. Anyway restuarants have insurance so why did not Robert go through insurance so Chesney could have got proper compensation. Thta is what insurance is for.
Coronation Street star Tristan Gemmill has ditched the hair dye, and nobody's more impressed than his co-star Kym Marsh.
Having only just dazzled us with his posh accent, the 50-year-old Robert Preston actor unveiled a new silver fox hairdo at the TV Choice Awards earlier this month. Needless to say, his new look is getting rave reviews from fans and on-screen love Kym.

In her latest OK! Magazine column, Kym credited her co-star with embracing the ageing process in an industry that often unfairly values youth over all else.
"We've become really close since working together so it was good to catch up as we've both been off for a lot of the summer," Kym wrote. "He's ditched the dye and I love his new hair!
"It's liberating that he's decided against dyeing his hair again, especially in our industry where there's pressure to look a certain way. His silver locks will have to be referenced on the show, but that's him now, the grey's here to stay!"
Life seems much happier for the pair off-screen, since they've been embroiled in the Michelle Connor stalking storyline over the last several weeks in the ITV soap.
Gemmill arrived on the cobbles as Robert Preston back in 2015, having taken over the role from '90s and early 2000s cast member Julian Kay.

Says the woman who used Dulux black gloss paint for her hair in the past. And she still dyes it. What a hypocrite.
Robert Peston is to be diagnosed with testicular cancer in upcoming storyline according to online rumours
Coronation Street's Robert Preston will be diagnosed with testicular cancer in an upcoming storyline.
Robert, played by Tristan Gemmill, will receive the worrying news later in the autumn – sparking a major new plot for him and his partner Michelle Connor.
The Bistro boss will be left with a major decision to make when he's told that he needs an operation to remove one of his testicles as part of his treatment, according to The Sun.
It's thought that an anxious Robert will have some doubts about the potentially life-saving surgery, leaving Michelle (Kym Marsh) with a tough battle on her hands to convince him that it's his best option.
A Coronation Street spokesperson told Digital Spy: "We don't comment on storyline speculation."
According to statistics on the NHS website, around 2,200 men are diagnosed with testicular cancer each year in the UK.
It tends to mostly affect men between 15 and 49 years of age and is one of the most treatable types of cancer.
Robert is currently in prison after brutally attacking his dangerous old acquaintance Rich Collis when he thought that Rich was terrorising Michelle.
Michelle has since discovered that her old flame Will Chatterton was the real culprit, but he was also arrested and charged after finally being caught out earlier this week.

Coronation Street has confirmed a forthcoming steroid abuse storyline for Robert Preston.
Tristan Gemmill, who plays the Bistro owner in the ITV soap, has revealed that Robert will start using steroids as he trains for a charity boxing match and takes his exercise regime too far by turning to the performance-enhancing drugs.
It comes after the character's fight with testicular cancer, as soap bosses continue to shine a spotlight on male mental health struggles.
"It's an interesting storyline from a psychological point of view," Tristan told Radio Times.
"It's not outlandish to think that an alpha-male bloke like Robert who's recently had testicular cancer will feel pretty shaken by an episode like that.
"He's trying to seize the day and make the most of the reprieve he's been given, but he ends up overdoing the exercising. That's why he gets into these muddy waters."
He added: "It feels topical for Coronation Street to be covering an issue like this.
"Especially when we see everything that's going on in the wider world about what established male behaviour has been in the past and what it perhaps should be aspiring towards in the future.
"We're trying to hold a mirror up to what's gong on and I think the producers have timed it pretty well."

I wonder will this storyline also be made all about Michelle and rushed just like his cancer storyline
adam and billy on pain pills, bethany on diet pills and now robbie on steroids, whose the street dealer :p
FWIW, my only experience of taking steroids was during treatment for breast cancer. Whilst nowhere near as awful as chemotherapy, if I hadn't had chemotherapy, I'd probably have classed steroids as pretty damn awful, and feel sympathy for anyone who becomes hooked on them. Suspect there may be different types of steroids though.
he has a heart attack from the steroids
