EastEnders newcomer Eddie Moon will be left "devastated" when an arson attack leads to him losing his livelihood in a forthcoming storyline, reports have revealed.
In dramatic scenes which air next week, Eddie decides to make a fresh start by bringing his antiques business to Walford when he finds new work premises in the area.
However, the charmer's dreams go up in smoke when one resident decides to set all of his stock alight. Despite his sons Tyler and Anthony trying to fight the blaze, Eddie is left with nothing.
In the aftermath of the mystery attack, Eddie decides that his estranged son Michael must have been responsible due to their long-running feud.
"Tyler and Anthony try to help but nothing can be done - everything is destroyed," an Albert Square source told The Sun. "Eddie looks on devastated, his whole life appears to have gone up in flames.
i'm quite liking Eddie's character, he obviously had a lot to do when he first came in but now they've actually let him settle in and start to get to know a few people.
Ah poor Eddie, he's got a pathetic son (Michael) no woman in his life (can't call Carol a love interest, she is such a moan)
now they do this, lets hope he finds a valuable antique worth thousands so he can rebuild.
Nice to have a "good nic" over 50's fella thats not a hook!!
HOw awful that you think anyone over 50 can't snog!
Do you think then all over 50's should not have a love life, or maybe you think that they should only show over 50's on Enders as ugly wicked infirm people?
Fact the biggest part of the population are over 50, so it is good that Enders show over 50's are valuble to society even if it means young ignorant people seem to think that the world is purely for them!
I think it would be good to show that the over 50's do indeed like to be inlove and the problmes they face trying to love each other without the luxury of a young body.
Oh dear does this offend you too, need to get mature then and see how you feel when your older
Ok I am 61 my boy toy is 52 we snog every day and all the time,, and if you young ones don't like it then avert your eyes and look else where, and keep what you think to yourselves because down the road you also will be OLD, God forbid if snogging and having sex had a shelf life .. and a cut off date, the world DOES NOT revolve around you young skinny folks .. what is wrong with people still loving each other at a certain age,, is love and romance only for the young ??? I can not believe how SHALLOW some people are out there and so small minded..The Characters Eddie, Carol and Jean all deserve to be loved too and yes to play tongue hockey too,,I do not like Eddie and Carol together cos Eddie is a more outgoing guy,, Carol is just gloom and doom and moans all the time,,I would love to see Eddie paired up with Jean,,she just sparkles around him .. shes such a cutie ...
Eddie is one of the better new character additions to EE in a long time imo
I would like to see him with Jean also she is funny with her crush on him
I dont think Michael will be the arsonist he is too obvious
'EastEnders' star promises "shocking" Eddie scene
Steve John Shepherd has predicted that EastEnders fans will be shocked when they get a glimpse of Eddie Moon's darker side later this month.
Next week's episodes of the BBC soap see Shepherd's character Michael Moon face the wrath of his father after all of the stock from Eddie's antiques emporium is set on fire in mysterious circumstances.
Although fans will see that mischievous newcomer Lola Pearce is responsible for the blaze, Eddie is convinced that Michael is to blame and goes on the warpath.
"Eddie pins Michael up against the wall at the B&B and lets rip," Shepherd told Soaplife. "It's really powerful and was quite frightening to film.
"David Essex, who plays Eddie, pulled out all the stops. His character's so refined and relaxed that it's shocking to see that other side of him."
After Eddie continues his vengeful behaviour, Michael sets to work on his own payback - deciding that his dad's growing connection to Carol Jackson (Lindsey Coulson) could work to his advantage.
Shepherd added: "He's torn. Part of him would like to see his dad happy - but another part is using his involvement with Carol as a vehicle for something else. He's going to go into some very dark places."
Next week's episodes also see Matt Lapinskas make his debut as Anthony Moon.
With a tour lined up we all knew David Essex would be departing Walford soon and David has tonight confirmed that he finishes filming this month.
Eddie Moon will be on screen until October and while a return is unlikely he hasnt ruled it out completely.
With Michael planning his revenge will he be the one to drive Eddie out of Walford?

already??? he only got here
He is touring for 6 months, I hope he will come back after the tour, he fits well into Albert Square
I hope Tyler and Anthony decide to stay on :D
I am sure they will :)
Seriously what is the point in brining in characters sometimes
I wonder if he was only brought in to bring in the secret brother that none of them know of yet. I'm assuming that's what his letter was about. I'm not surprised that he is leaving so soon to be honest, he was going to play Honey's dad but then pulled out because of other commitments. I'm thinking maybe they're working round him now in terms of the character he got/storylines to get a big name into the show.
He is one of the best new characters in a long time shame he is leaving already I hope he returns
This is a great pity David is a genuine nice guy and cares bout his family, and not bad looking for an oldie!!
lets hope he will return, his boys are nice but typical of soaps,
don't forget the viewers over 40, not everyone who watches is in their teens/early 20's!!!
lets have more good looking chappies for us older ladies!!!
He may have company. He may have to take Alfie with him as I think Mr Ritchie may get the boot soon.
EastEnders star David Essex has promised that there are big storylines on the way for his character Eddie Moon before he makes his departure from the soap.
As revealed when the actor first took on the role, Eddie will be leaving screens in October as Essex is going on tour with the play All the Fun of the Fair. Whether the antiques dealer will be back in Walford at a later date is currently unclear.
Speaking of his time at EastEnders, Essex told This Morning today: "It's been wonderful - really, really challenging, intimidating and it does take over your life, but I've been blessed because I've worked with wonderful actors - my boys Tony Discipline, Matt Lapinskas and Steve John Shepherd, Zöe Lucker and Lindsey Coulson, and of course Shane and Jessie.
"That was my circle that I worked with, and the level of performance from those actors and the pressure we're at, it's just incredible. All the way down from the top to the bottom, there's this kind of galvanised quality of a family under pressure! And it works - I really enjoy it."
Discussing Eddie's future, he continued: "All I can tell you is that Eddie's storylines from now until October are phenomenal. They're so powerful."
Essex said that he has embraced the air of mystery surrounding Eddie, whose past is currently being explored on screen as his son Michael does some detective work.
"I've tried to play him slightly ambiguous, with a certain darkness, so you don't quite know what he's like," he explained. "I've really enjoyed it, it was a challenge and I'm so pleased it went so well."
Meanwhile, asked whether he will return to EastEnders, Essex replied: "It's tricky. I'd like to go back, but it's time, really. And I do feel blessed that I seem to be able to work in so many different mediums."
EastEnders fans will be introduced to Craig Moon - another of Eddie's sons - in the coming weeks.
The Moons are like the Mitchells and the Slaters. The daft producers just invent new ones to tie in with their latest fantasy storyline.Quote:

DAVID Essex is quitting EastEnders after just five months - and aims to cash in on his telly fame with a new album.
The Seventies pop heart-throb said his character, Eddie Moon, will make an explosive exit in mid-October.
David, 64, said: "Being on EastEnders has been wonderful, challenging and intimidating and it does take over your life.
"But I've been blessed to work with wonderful actors. I've really enjoyed it and I'm pleased it went so well."
He said bosses had "left the door ajar" for him to return to Albert Square - adding: "Eddie's storylines from now until October are incredible, so powerful."
He is now working on an acoustic album to be released in time for Christmas. David, who had 23 Top 30 singles in his heyday, said: "It's got a lot of my previous hits and some new songs. I'm very pleased how it's going."
From next month he will also be touring in a new musical called All The Fun Of The Fair.
As Alfie Moon's uncle, he first got housewives' hearts fluttering in June. Fans have seen him battle with son Michael, lose his antiques business in flames and romance dowdy Carol Jackson.
A BBC1 spokeswoman said the star was only taken on for a brief stint.
